If the new formula didn't seem quite silly and ridiculous, I wouldn't mind, but it's just laughable. At least with the old ones, you got a laugh out of the rickety props and shit sets.

On last Saturday I watched 2012, I personally think that it's too much exaggerated, I mean the looming catastrophe on Earth... but I think that it leaves you thinking because it's a very sad story.

Of course it's exaggerated. It's Hollywood.

There was a documentary on last night about the supposed "End of the world". I was seeing red when one person said "many people will die and bad things will happen". I was like " yeah, that's called every day that has ever happened arsehole"

I watched 2012... Funny it didn't give me nightmares as I have a bit of a doomsday-phobia.

The movie was ok, but really unrealistic. Especially on the human nature part. *spoilers*
No way would the president have been so noble and stayed behind with everyone else, and no way would they all have turned around at the end because of "Adrian's(or what his name was) speech". But yea. It's yet another movie that sort of makes you hate humanity for a while >_< Also... it was friggin 3 hours long almost... with no breaks.. And I had to pee!!

I saw UP. You know what\s an amazingly stupendous movie? Not UP.

That's because UP is hands down pants shittingly extravagant hyper max turbo configuration excellent. Objectively, it is the best Pixar movie. Subjectively it's in my top 3. Watch it. Now. Watch it watch it watch it.


Also saw Hot Rod, it was funny in that "Andy Samberg and all those other funny fuckers" sort of way.

I fucking love Peep Show. The best comedy I've seen for a long time.

Last night, I watched Friday the 13th Part 3 in 3D. It was shit. It's a shit film anyway, but it's even worse when it all that's on, and even that's all blurry and shitty-looking.

Saw Paranormal Activity.

Predictably, not nearly as scary as the trailers make it out to be.
It wasn't terrible, considering they had a budget under $15,000 and shot the whole thing in a week. It had a few things going for it such as simplicity, the idea that seeing nothing is scarier than a guy in a big, cheesy demon suit tormenting this ugly couple. Points for sound effects and suspenseful build-up as well. There was one scene where the male protagonist covered the floor with talcum powder to see if the poltergeist left any footprints, sure enough it did, and not only do you see the footprints appear on camera, but they're three-toed demon feet as opposed to human footprints. Though this was corny, I thought it was a nice touch.

I think the degree of scariness of the films depends strongly on the viewer's constitution. During the film three people walked out, though not with any urgency, so I assume they were just bored as opposed to scared. If you find doors opening and closing and lights turning off and on by themselves, then this film is for you. Coming in at close to two hours in length (surprising right?), none of the really cool stuff happens until the last twenty minutes of the movie. Not unlike Cloverfield, you could probably save yourself time and money by just looking up a compilation of all the scary scenes on Youtube. Definitely not worth buying, and definitely not worth seeing more than maybe twice in your whole lifetime.

I'm being cruel of course, as it was a stalwart attempt by an amateur filmmaker at making horror (which is by far the hardest genre to work in as it's almost impossible to scare anyone these days). All in all it's passable, and it's all you've come to expect from such movies that have tried to capitalize on the shaky-handed camcorder style made famous by The Blair Witch Project.

Note: There are apparently multiple endings. Naturally, the mainstream theatrical release has the crappiest ending, which is the one I saw. The others are longer and a little more exciting.

I love low-budget horrors. The Texas Chain Saw Massacre will never be usurped as my favorite horror. I may see Paranormal Activity just to see how these folk have done.

TCSM had a very low budget, which is why the production was such a nightmare.
They couldn't afford prop carcasses, so all of the dead animals and animal parts you see in that film are real. Lemme tell ya, piles of animal corpses in a tiny house in the Texas heat? It did not smell pretty.

I remember reading about this. The production of the Chain Saw Massacre is unusually interesting. I enjoyed the story about Gunnar Hansen getting tired and agitated during the dinner scene, resulting in him cutting open Marilyn Burns' finger after the tape that fed false blood failed to work.

Yeah, the director tortured those actors. Because of the low budget, a lot of things had to be done "for real".

Cutting her finger was one. They didn't have stunt doubles, so all the scenes where the actors are running through the woods, having their clothes shredded by the dried up trees were real as well. I read somewhere that a few of the actors vowed that if they ever saw the director again, they'd kill him.

Said dinner scene took upwards from 24 hours to shoot.

I'm sure that I once read that in this scene, as they approached the house, Hansen slipped with the chain saw, fell over, and the saw landed only inches from his head. Don't know about you, but I'd be shitting myself.

Persepolis is a great film. It taught me a lot about Iranian history.

It was certainly, i did "guh" when the tween girlies in the audience gasped when one of the protagonists took his shirt off.

i enjoyed it on the same level that i enjoy reading trash magazines like Womans Weekly and Who (mainly which i read on the toilet to facilitate a smooth bowel movement). so it was nice enough, but i wouldn't go out of my way to see it nawm sayn

Yeah. Twilight was made into a movie purely for monetary reasons, not because it's a good story that needs to be told.
I won't give the filmmakers any of my money or an ounce of credit.
At least they kept true to the books in that the films are just as terrible.

Also, vampires are sposed to burst into flames when they're in the sun, not turn into David Bowie.
