@oddey

Well if project will be moved to UE3, then it won't be problem. UE3 supports blending animations, so animator can just blend animation of sitting and animation of waving for example :)

Software Bug 04-04-2010 11:43 AM

Hey guys!

So i've been up to a lot of other things lately, Still need to get back in touch with Griever M3n. Just finished my school project, tuesday is the last day to work on it. after that I still have an external project to work on to bring in some cash to live from but I should be able to get more involved with the oddworld project once again.

STM 04-27-2010 12:00 PM

Hey Tim, before this goes off the edge just wondering if there's an update soon?

Software Bug 04-27-2010 12:13 PM

I "think" you can expect something from us in May.
I've been busy with a project for two months and thats ending the 1st of May so then its 100% back to our favorite world. :)

STM 04-28-2010 09:56 AM

I cannee wait Tim!

impablomations 11-09-2010 09:53 AM

Do you need someone for voice / sfx work? I can pretty much do any of the Oddworld voices. Have studio set up at home. Let me know if you want any examples of Oddworld type voices.

STM 11-09-2010 11:15 AM

Impablomations, look at the least time someone posted here. April, therefore I would recommend to you that you don't post. It'll help you get on here.

Also welcome to OWF

Post your examples, I wanna hear! In your own thread though. But post long speeches, not just single words..

Fischkopf 07-01-2012 03:41 AM

No updates in almost 2 years...

Is this thing dead now, or what?

RoryF 07-01-2012 03:50 AM

No fucking shit sherlock.

Phylum 07-01-2012 04:05 PM

It's bad manners to bump old threads asking about the state of the project. If you have to you can always PM the guy, although I haven't seen Tim around much lately.

DarkHoodness 07-01-2012 11:23 PM

Nowtun's project has been quiet lately too.

Fortunately JAW are working on an official remake of AO, so it's not that much of a big loss, but it's still a big, big shame that most fan projects go this way. I guess what people plan for is too ambitious for them to complete, or their lives change and they become too busy, so as a result they lose interest.

I'm trying hard to avoid the same fate with my own project by having a list of tasks and ideas, allocating a minimum amount of my free time to it daily, and not planning anything that's too ambitious for me to complete.

At the same time though, I'm an adult in my mid-20s and have the strong feeling that I should be doing something better and more important with my spare time, even though it's just as pointless as any other hobby and people will get some joy out of the finished project. Minecraft map making isn't true game design either. But you've gotta start somewhere, I guess.

Phylum 07-02-2012 12:04 AM

I wouldn't really see it as an issue. You're bonding with our somewhat unique community and making something that more people will enjoy that if you went hiking or something.

Im still here, and I'm still working on the project, im just not showing you guys just yet :-P lol

... but its coming along :-)

DarkHoodness 07-05-2012 10:40 AM

Now that's awesome news. :) I'm very glad to hear that.

(BTW I seem to be getting good at getting ripped OW sound effects to sound almost like they do in-game, if you ever need help with that in your project, PM me.)

nowtun 07-05-2012 11:06 AM

will do, im not quite at that stage yet (im just wrapping up the modeling at the mo)

i'll PM you as soon as i need your help.

It's bad manners [...]

Oh really? Thanks for the advice, but i 'm old enough to know what i'm doing. Maybe there was a reason for me to bump this. There was no announcement of cancellation of this project, so i wondered. I didn't write a PM, because this way other people can answer me too. But what do YOU even care, you're not even a mod.

Obviously you're not.

No, there wasn't a reason.

:

It's called vapourware, if you were going to bump every single fangame project that didn't get finished and had no cancellation announcement, you'd bump at least 2 pages of threads.

:

I didn't write a PM, because this way other people can answer me too.
The only response you're going to get from those other people is that it's dead and don't bump it.

:

But what do YOU even care, you're not even a mod.
We care because by bumping up old, dead threads, you are possibly bumping off a current project which would get forgotten and become vapourware.

DarkHoodness 07-06-2012 08:31 AM

I think people are being more edgy about this than they ought to be.

Yeah, it should be obvious that a project is dead when it hasn't been officially cancelled but not received updates in over a year, let alone 2 years, but so long as someone doesn't constantly resurrect every dead thread topic then it shouldn't be much of a problem.

If it happens occasionally, sometimes it's nice to have a reason to review what could have been and generate conversation about it. It may even prompt the authors to resurrect a project. Who knows?

That's a silly concern. If it's "current", then it'd get updated by the author. If it's finished, people would still post in the topic to talk about it. Therefore it wouldn't drop off the bottom (you should have the forum set up to display old topics anyway, like I do, if you care about that).

Say, that's an idea for a new sub-forum that only mods can post in, listing finished projects or fangames and linking to their topics (the author would have to both state completion and prove it). That way, complete stuff wouldn't be forgotten.

Huh? Just because you or whoever don't like seeing what i'm posting, doesn't mean i'm not aware of what i'm doing. What kind of assumption is that at all?

:

()
No, there wasn't a reason.

Well for me there was. Why are you refering to you now? Do I have to take anything you say as a fact? You're now acting like your opinion is the only one that matters.

The point was that he said it's not a good thing to bump up clearly dead threads, you said you didn't need his advice when you obviously do or he wouldn't of had to tell you.

What do mean my opinion? You didn't have a proper reason to bump it up. It is a fact that because this thread hasn't had a post in two years, that makes your question/reason asking if it's dead when it clearly is, stupid.

Varrok 07-06-2012 10:08 AM

Yeah, argue more!

DarkHoodness 07-06-2012 10:26 AM

Love it when people don't listen to what I'm saying. :P

Varrok 07-06-2012 10:29 AM

Take that, Oddman360 and Fischkopf!

Alright, let's be friends now. ;)
