@oddey
Well if project will be moved to UE3, then it won't be problem. UE3 supports blending animations, so animator can just blend animation of sitting and animation of waving for example :) |
Hey guys!
So i've been up to a lot of other things lately, Still need to get back in touch with Griever M3n. Just finished my school project, tuesday is the last day to work on it. after that I still have an external project to work on to bring in some cash to live from but I should be able to get more involved with the oddworld project once again. |
Hey Tim, before this goes off the edge just wondering if there's an update soon?
|
I "think" you can expect something from us in May.
I've been busy with a project for two months and thats ending the 1st of May so then its 100% back to our favorite world. :) |
I cannee wait Tim!
|
Do you need someone for voice / sfx work? I can pretty much do any of the Oddworld voices. Have studio set up at home. Let me know if you want any examples of Oddworld type voices.
|
Impablomations, look at the least time someone posted here. April, therefore I would recommend to you that you don't post. It'll help you get on here.
Also welcome to OWF |

No updates in almost 2 years...
Is this thing dead now, or what? |
No fucking shit sherlock.
|
It's bad manners to bump old threads asking about the state of the project. If you have to you can always PM the guy, although I haven't seen Tim around much lately.

Nowtun's project has been quiet lately too.
Fortunately JAW are working on an official remake of AO, so it's not that much of a big loss, but it's still a big, big shame that most fan projects go this way. I guess what people plan for is too ambitious for them to complete, or their lives change and they become too busy, so as a result they lose interest. I'm trying hard to avoid the same fate with my own project by having a list of tasks and ideas, allocating a minimum amount of my free time to it daily, and not planning anything that's too ambitious for me to complete. At the same time though, I'm an adult in my mid-20s and have the strong feeling that I should be doing something better and more important with my spare time, even though it's just as pointless as any other hobby and people will get some joy out of the finished project. Minecraft map making isn't true game design either. But you've gotta start somewhere, I guess. |
I wouldn't really see it as an issue. You're bonding with our somewhat unique community and making something that more people will enjoy that if you went hiking or something.

... but its coming along :-) |
Now that's awesome news. :) I'm very glad to hear that.
(BTW I seem to be getting good at getting ripped OW sound effects to sound almost like they do in-game, if you ever need help with that in your project, PM me.) |
will do, im not quite at that stage yet (im just wrapping up the modeling at the mo)
i'll PM you as soon as i need your help. |

I think people are being more edgy about this than they ought to be.
Yeah, it should be obvious that a project is dead when it hasn't been officially cancelled but not received updates in over a year, let alone 2 years, but so long as someone doesn't constantly resurrect every dead thread topic then it shouldn't be much of a problem. If it happens occasionally, sometimes it's nice to have a reason to review what could have been and generate conversation about it. It may even prompt the authors to resurrect a project. Who knows? :
Say, that's an idea for a new sub-forum that only mods can post in, listing finished projects or fangames and linking to their topics (the author would have to both state completion and prove it). That way, complete stuff wouldn't be forgotten. |
