I saw the Oxford Murders last night. Don't think it's been released in the US yet. I enjoyed it, though I didn't think Elijah Wood was the best choice for the lead role.

OddjobAbe 10-17-2009 01:31 PM

I lost the little respect I had for him when he voiced Spyro in the relatively recent and most mediocre Spyro games. Just like how I lost all respect for Alexander Armstrong when he did a game show.

Man, X-men 3 is a strange movie. It feels like "Cyclops dies, Professor dies, then Bridge battle for two hours".

I dunno.

Mac Sirloin 10-17-2009 04:49 PM

I just got back from Where The Wild Things Are. It was astounding, I'm so glad I went to see it. Do yourself a favor and go see it right now.

Leto 10-17-2009 04:59 PM

stupid thing doesn't hit my shores for a bit

Mac Sirloin 10-17-2009 05:40 PM

I dunno.

Professor X didn't actually die. The look of extreme concentration on his face during his 'death' was due to him transferring his consciousness into his brain-dead twin brother, who he showed to the class/had a moral discussion about earlier in the film. It shows the end result after the credits roll. Duh.

Also, fuck cyclops.

That's because before Brett Ratner came on board, the bridge battle was meant to be in the middle of the movie and the climax was meant to be the mutant army marching on Washington. Ratner's response was "Oh but Magneto moving the bridge is the most spectactular special effect in the whole film; that has to be the climax! He essentially cut out the second half of the film and padded what was left to make it a 104 minute movie.

Wait, seriously? That explains a lot.

Mac Sirloin 10-17-2009 09:17 PM

I remember seeing a special for X-men 3 on the Space Channel, once. They showcased the entire 'magneto moving the bridge' scene and I was like 'WOW! If that's all they show in the trailers I can just imagine what they're saving for the movie!'
Yes, I was very naive.

The hilarious thing was how proud he was of that decision in the interview I read.

Strike Witch 10-18-2009 12:31 AM

It just didn't flow, a good movie is supposed to steadily rise in awesomeness, but going straight to that then just petering out into "I love you but I must kill you" was ugh.

I still liked the Juggernaut.

Josh 10-18-2009 02:37 AM

Storm will always be the best of the X-Men. So, did they actually film the part that would have saved the film? Or is it just a nice idea?

MeechMunchie 10-18-2009 03:08 AM

Pffft. Nightcrawler would kick Storm's lightning-burned arse. (Another Anglo-American spelling thing - 'Kiss my ass' or 'Kick your ass' looks better than 'Kiss my arse' or 'Kick your arse', but 'Can't be arsed' looks better than 'Can't be assed'. Probably 'cause the latter's a mainly British saying) I always thought Wolverine's 'Nooo' at the end was stupid, since when you go 'No' at someone's death, your'e implying that you can't belive it happened. But Wolverine just killed her with his own claws.

Wings of Fire 10-18-2009 02:06 PM

I saw the original Bill and Ted last night all the way through for the first time ever, it was fucking awesome and just what I needed to untense me after weeks of coursework and suchlike. Also...
Why is that so magical? It's gotta be one of the best scenes I've ever seen in a movie. It adds nothing to the plot or the characters but for no apparent reason it still affected me somehow D:.

Mac Sirloin 10-18-2009 04:07 PM

It's the music. that scene is stupid otherwise.

Nate 10-18-2009 04:41 PM

Was that Tom Baker in the phone box?

Josh 10-19-2009 06:49 AM

The Last King of Scotland. A good film. The part with the corpse was just sick.

You saw that last night didn't you? :)

Josh 10-19-2009 10:01 AM

Yup. I have a new favorite film. Next to 'Goldmember'.

It's bifurcated? Well, it is a movie about the devil, I suppose.

I don't recall any furry eroticism in that movie.

Wings of Fire 10-19-2009 10:20 AM

I don't recall any substance in that movie in the slightest.

Though in fairness I was about ten when I watched it.

Watch it again XD

OANST 10-19-2009 10:30 AM

Actually, don't. It's a pretty crappy movie.

shaman 10-19-2009 10:32 AM

I think you mean awesome.

OANST 10-19-2009 10:47 AM

I really don't. That was a really bad film. AND IT WAS MADE BY A PEDOPHILE.

used:) 10-19-2009 11:21 AM

I didn't think it was half bad. And no, I still don't recall any furry eroticism.

Pics/vids or it didn't happen.

OANST 10-19-2009 11:25 AM

People will excuse almost anything of a movie if it has Johnny Depp in it. Seriously, that movie was a fucking stinker.
