lol
You'll just have to find out what happens next

Oddey 02-25-2010 12:03 PM

I sense a great deal of inspiration from Half-Life 2 again... Although, I could also pinpoint a good deal of this story to other games, but I believe a lot of it is coincidental or subconscious. At least it's inspiration from a good game and not a bad one.:D

I still feel a great deal of newfound mystery in this new installment. Where exactly is this... Hold on a minute... How do sligs wear pants? Regardless, where is this slig, what's so important in X16, what's in his suitcase, and who is he?

Slig75 02-25-2010 12:20 PM

We'll find out soon enough

Oddey 02-26-2010 12:53 PM

Even how they wear pants over their pants?

Slig75 02-27-2010 01:35 AM

I don't know really, even they have to keep their dignity sometimes

MeechMunchie 02-27-2010 06:39 AM

It sounds like a good idea to me. It would stop their legs seizing up with rust and dirt.

Slig75 02-28-2010 02:22 AM

hmm, I never really thought of that, but oh well

Chapter 2
The Lowlife (Part 1)

The people around Rigel did nothing but walk towards wherever they wanted to be. They made not a sound; like the beginning of a hopeless existence. Rigel looked around to find the cause of all of the quietness. A few soldiers were patrolling around the square and some of the streets surrounding it. This was the cause; an oppressive legion. The only sound was coming from a radio beside a window in an apartment room. It was playing a bossa nova genre tune. Rigel turned and headed down a small street. A few others walked down it as well but didn’t say anything to anybody. Rigel walked beside another person and tried to speak. “Look if we talk out here, we’ll both get into trouble” he said quickly and walked away. Rigel agreed quietly and didn’t say a word.

He looked towards what looked like a small café. There was a soldier standing outside in front of the door. Rigel walked over towards the door until the soldier stopped him. “You need retinal access” said the soldier pointing towards the retinal scanner attached to the wall by the door. He leant forward and rested his head against the scanner. It scanned his eyes and he leant back again. “Access denied” the retinal scanner showed on the screen below the scanner. The soldier didn’t look surprised about this. “Hold still” he said. But suddenly, he punched Rigel in the gut and then took out a small sized cylindrical retinal scanner from his pocket. Rigel fell to the ground back first. The soldier scanned Rigel’s eyes and then inserted the scanner into a hole in the bigger retinal scanner. It made a sort of recording sound to say that his access level was being stored. He pulled out the small scanner and put it back in his pocket. Rigel got up slowly but he felt seriously winded. “What the hell was that for?” asked Rigel painfully. “Hey, if you want get punched again, don’t ask me” replied the soldier, “now get your eyes scanned now or face being arrested”. Rigel walked towards the retinal scanner but gave a pissed off look at the soldier; he said nothing. Rigel leant forward and the scanner scanned his eyes. He then leant back again. The scanner made a beeping sound to show that access was granted. The door to the cafe opened. The soldier just stood at his post and didn’t turn again. Rigel entered the café but was only greeted by the emptiness of it.

All of the chairs were empty and there was no barman. There was a fridge on the other side of the counter with some graffiti on the door saying “Take what you want scavengers!” Rigel felt confused by this as he knew that from the graffiti and the dirtiness of the café, it was abandoned. He wondered why there was a soldier guarding the door. However, he felt intrigued by the graffiti and walked over towards the fridge. He opened the door and realised it was still running; he was lucky. Inside were a couple of portions of Slig Sushi, a bottle of Coke-a-Zade and a Scrab Cake. He took out the Scrab cake and the Coke-a-Zade and sat down at a bar stool by the counter.

He pulled the cap of the bottle and took a swig. The flavour fizzled in his mouth and made it cold as he swallowed it. He paused a bit and looked at the door. The soldier was still standing outside by the door. Then another person came to the soldier and asked for clearance. He leant to the retinal scanner and it scanned his eyes. It beeped in recognition and it opened the door. The stranger entered the café and sat down beside Rigel. He tapped his fingers on the counter while the door closed again. “Do you mind if I have that Scrab Cake?” the stranger asked. “Go for it, I’m not hungry” replied Rigel. The stranger reached over and took the Scrab Cake. He took a bite out of it and crunched on it slowly; he then finally swallowed. “By the way, my name is Valken” the stranger said. “Rigel” he replied. “Good to meet you” Valken replied. He finished off the rest of the Scrab cake while Rigel took another swig of the Coke-a-Zade. “Infact, why are we talking?” said Rigel, “We’ll both get into trouble”. “Because I know a place where we can” replied Valken. “Really” said Rigel sarcastically. “Yes” said Valken, “and if you have any second thoughts, keep them to yourself and follow me”. Valken stood up and walked over to the fridge; Rigel, intrigued by the new acquisition, followed behind.

Oddey 03-01-2010 10:26 AM

Interesting to have a guard outside a door of an abandoned café with a fridge sprayed with graffiti. How did the graffiti sprayer not get caught?

Perhaps there's a price to pay for entry to new places. Like a punch in the stomach if you go anywhere that you don't regularily go. It would generally help to reduce the number of places people went, therefore making them easier to find.

I can't wait to see how this will intertwine itself to Admeet and Co.

Slig75 03-01-2010 02:05 PM

You'll find out soon

AlexFili 03-02-2010 01:43 AM

Presumably the graffiti artist worked at night.

Lord Stanley 03-02-2010 03:40 AM

Yay, another story begins!!! I love fridges with free food & drink, don't you?

Slig75 03-02-2010 08:32 AM

Maybe

The Lowlife (Part 2)

“Get in the fridge” said Valken. “What?” said Rigel feeling surprised. “Look, if we want to do this quietly, as of not alerting the soldier, then do what I say. Get in the fridge!” replied Valken before shoving him into the fridge. He then jumped in the fridge and steadied himself; he closed the door. “Brace yourself” said Valken when suddenly, the inside of the fridge plummeted down a shaft. It was a short ride but the inside of the fridge hit the hard ground with a thud. Rigel fell out as soon as it hit the ground. Valken was still in the fridge. “That’s what happened the first time I used this” said Valken looking at Rigel face first on the ground. Rigel stood up and brushed of bits of dirt with his hands off his leather jacket. “This way” said Valken pointing to the right and jumping of the fridge. The two walked towards a dirty cement wall with a poster attached to it. “Nobody really goes down here” said Valken looking at the bits of piping on the ceiling, “Not much to see here except this poster”. The poster was showing a Vykker presenting its new product, “Credit Critters, credit crunch is their lunch”. He also noticed a vertical rip in the poster. Valken then opened a small power box and flipped a few wires to opposite sockets. The cement wall split in half and both sides moved horizontally in opposite directions. “Through here” said Valken entering the new passage. Rigel followed closely behind. However, the two didn’t notice the fridge travelling upwards back to the surface of the café.

“Have you heard of teleportation?” asked Valken. “I’ve heard of it in books but I haven’t actually seen it in real life” replied Rigel, “Why do you ask?” “Because you’ll see why” replied Valken approaching a keypad attached to a rusty metal panel. He typed the numbers 5 and 23. The panel opened to reveal a large, grey machine. “This is where teleportation becomes a reality” said Valken showing Rigel through. He felt impressed of this possible amazing achievement. “Impressive” he said looking at the many components that made up the machine. “This, my friend, is an organic mass transporter, you can just call it a teleport” said Valken. He immediately walked over to a blue drinks machine. He pushed a button and out popped a bottle of Coke-a-Zade. He pulled the cap of and took a swig. “Are there any others?” asked Rigel. “Yeah, they’re round the back” replied Valken pointing towards a back room by the teleport. Rigel walked through into the room while Valken followed behind. He overtook Rigel as soon as he stopped. The room was full of scrap metal and spare parts. “Hey guys” said Valken looking at the two Sligs on top of the piles of scrap metal. The two Sligs turned around and looked at the newcomer. “New here?” asked the first Slig. “Yes, and I must say it’s an impressive holdout here” replied Rigel. “Thank you” said the second Slig. “My name’s Rigel” the newcomer said. “I’m Vankor” replied the first Slig, “and this is Tarios”. “Hi” replied Tarios. Rigel shook hands with the two and they got back to finding what they wanted. “Hey Valken!” shouted Vankor, “have you seen a type 8 cog bracket anywhere?” “I think I may have come across one in that pile there” replied Valken pointing at the pile to the left of Vankor. Rigel left the two to find what they needed and sat down on a small, wooden chair. “You really need to think about sorting out that pile of scrap metal” said Rigel taking a swig out of the Coke-a-Zade bottle from the fridge. “Well, we are not hanging around here for long” replied Valken, “It won’t be long before the soldiers find out where we are hiding. We are just building the teleport so we can get out of here. Of course we need co-ordinates if we know where we are going. There’s a small hideout on the outskirts of this outpost where the people who resist the oppressive nature of the soldiers hold out. That’s where we are headed”. Then suddenly, an alarm shouted in the room they were in. “Damn, looks like they’ve already found us. Take this” said Valken taking a Walther SP22/M2 hand gun and giving it to Rigel, “You’ll need it. The soldiers will open fire on any resisting people” Rigel agreed and readied himself in front of the door. Valken, Vankor and Tarios did the same. The oppression and resistance was rising.

Oddey 03-05-2010 09:19 AM

Well... I don't have much to say, but at least the story is advancing.

Lord Stanley 03-05-2010 11:21 AM

Go resistance. Go Coke-a-Zade.

AlexFili 03-07-2010 08:10 AM

Are you going to put the picture here? :D

Slig75 03-07-2010 01:22 PM

Oh, yes.
For those of you who don't know, I requested AlexFili to draw a picture of Admeet in his dark form. Here's the attachment. All credit goes to AlexFili :)

AlexFili 03-08-2010 12:52 AM

That looks pretty good. I'm going to work with a friend of mine to make a new version of the Slig characters. Hopefully I can use these new graphics in any future drawings. Thanks again for the opportunity to test myself.

Slig75 03-08-2010 08:25 AM

That's OK :)

Lord Stanley 03-12-2010 02:53 PM

We need more story.

Slig75 03-12-2010 04:24 PM

Sorry, it's been a busy few weeks with coursework and exams, they are priority Lord Stanley

Lord Stanley 03-12-2010 06:20 PM

Oh, sorry I interrupted. Do well on exams...and then write more.

AlexFili 03-13-2010 12:59 AM

Good luck! I'm glad you like my picture ^_^

Slig75 03-13-2010 01:13 AM

Thankyou both :)

Lord Stanley 03-22-2010 10:53 AM

We need more story.

Slig75 03-22-2010 03:02 PM

Wait until Easter, then i'll see what I can do

Lord Stanley 03-22-2010 06:36 PM

Okay. Sorry if I sound impatient, I just would like to see more story.

Slig75 03-23-2010 12:29 AM

It's okay

Slig75 03-29-2010 08:25 AM

Sorry it's been so long, what with coursework and exam preparation. I managed to find some time and now here is chapter 3
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Chapter 3
Breaking and Entering

Rigel held the Walther in his hand with great steadiness. Vankor grabbed a Franchi SPAS-12 shotgun, without the folding stock, from a wooden, splintered table. Tarios also grabbed from the table a Heckler & Koch MP5. Then the walls started to shake. “What’s going on” Rigel shouted as bits of piping from the roof started to fall from their bearings. Bits of dirt from the white bricks also started to shake and fall. “Chopper 15 6, prepare to drop firework” said a voice behind the wall entrance. “Oh no” said Vankor, “Get down!” An explosion sounded and part of the ceiling fell down to the ground to reveal a large hole. Hovering above the hole was a large helicopter. The rubble littered the floor and buried the 4 Sligs alive. “Prepare to move in” said the voice again behind the wall entrance. The teleporter had fallen apart slightly in the cave-in. Strangely, blue and green particles started to leak out of one of the generators beside it. Then the wall entrance was starting to shake. A few bricks fell from it. Then it completely fell apart to reveal a squad of soldiers. “Go, go, go” shouted the squad leader. The other four squad members moved in and surrounded the trapped Sligs. The rubble started to move as the trapped Sligs started to work their way out. The helicopter released five ends of rope down to the soldiers below to help clear the rubble. The soldiers attached the ends to bits of large rubble and the helicopter lifted them off the ground. The green and blue particles then started to swirl around the area where Rigel lay. “What’s going on” said one of the soldiers looking at the particles. They had now driven under the rubble and engulfed Rigel just as Valken burst out. “Freeze” the soldier said pointing at Valken. Then there was a bright flash of light from Rigel’s position. Bits of debris above him fell into the hole he was in. He had disappeared. “Get them out of the rubble” said the squad leader. Without further a due, the soldiers started to dig the trapped Sligs out of the rubble. Valken tried to move himself onto his feet but was immediately knocked out by the butt of a M16 rifle to the head. Vankor burst out of the rubble quickly but then suffered the same bad sporting fate as Valken. “Looks all clear, get them out of here” said the squad leader, “Chopper 15 6, you are clear to move out. Meet us outside of the building entrance”. “Roger that” said the pilot in the chopper. The helicopter released the ropes and flew off away from the building. “Shackle them” said the squad leader. The others took some cuffs out of their belt pockets and shackled their hands together. “Alright, let’s go” said the squad leader. Each unconscious body was handled by two soldiers. The squad leader led them out of the building. “Damn, they’ve taken Vankor and Valken” thought Tarios, “and where’s Rigel? C’mon footsteps, disappear already!” They did disappear, and then Tarios started to dig his way out of the rubble. He had a long way to go, but this was just the beginning.

Lord Stanley 03-29-2010 08:47 AM

Action! Battles! Call of Duty stuff! Awesome! I just wonder who's fighting, and why...but that'll be explained later, I know. Yay for more chapters.

Slig75 03-29-2010 01:22 PM

Thankyou :)

Oddey 04-01-2010 12:26 AM

I find it a tad odd that all of those weapons are from our world... Wouldn't it make more sense to call them otherwise?

Apart from that, it seems that something interesting is happening now.

Slig75 04-01-2010 01:20 AM

I just decided to add a bit of small realism to the story, don't know if it is an improvement

Lord Stanley 04-01-2010 10:53 AM

Well, realism is okay. It's better than saying "the Breezer was like a helicopter, except since it's in Oddworld it can't be called a helicopter..."

Lord Stanley 04-07-2010 09:29 AM

We need more story. Am I getting annoying, saying that all the time? Sorry. I just like this story a lot, and would like to see it continue...along with the thousands of other people who read this.

Slig75 04-07-2010 11:11 AM

hmm, I think only three people read this at the moment, including yourself

Oddey 04-07-2010 12:22 PM

You'll have to escuse Stanley. He tends to overexagerate. When he says thousands, he really means 997 less. Other than that, he's perfectly alright.

Lord Stanley 04-07-2010 02:17 PM

Uh, sorry. Maybe I only meant three. Maybe I meant 1000 + -997. Sorry. We just need more story.

Lord Stanley 04-14-2010 06:31 PM

Not gonna say it. Not gonna say it. Hint, hint. Sorry. My apologies.
