That’s not really in the spirit of things.

Varrok 03-23-2016 03:23 PM

It's totally in the spirit of things!

FennecFyre 03-23-2016 03:29 PM

The thingy doesn't respond to Aslik, Dripik, or Phleg, so now I wonder if we'll be getting some new villains.

E: And on a whim, I tried Sekto. More gibberish.

LA*EP R*,R* EAEO***SPTYSRE

mlg man 03-23-2016 03:42 PM

I'm starting to think that those gibberish replies, really are just gibberish.

FennecFyre 03-23-2016 03:53 PM

Possibly.

"Can you hear me?" results in "YES, FAINTLY."

I gotta say, I know this is just code, but it's still just a little bit creepy. Creepy in a cool way, though, just like Oddworld should be.

hakansson20 03-23-2016 04:12 PM

Found something new

HEALING -> WE NEED MORE FUNDING FOR MODOKAID
GET ME OUTTA HERE -> NO, REALLY, GET ME OUT OF HERE - nothing special here
BIG-FACE -> NICE MASK, BOZO!
HOW ARE YOU? -> HOW DO YOU THINK?

Moot 03-23-2016 04:23 PM

OPEN SESAME -> WRONG MYTHOLOGY, SCHMUCK

FennecFyre 03-23-2016 04:24 PM

Aw man, I had tried Big Face earlier, but I didn't know it had a dash in it.

Nepsotic 03-23-2016 05:11 PM

I think somebody said this before but
WHO ARE YOU - IT'S BEEN SO LONG, I CAN'T REMEMBER

Guessing it might be some of the restless Necrum spirits.

grimGadabout 03-23-2016 11:37 PM

So I made an account just to post this, because I dunno if anyone else has come across it yet.

Manco 03-24-2016 12:12 AM

shrykull - WHO IS YOUR CURRENT ENERGY PROVIDER?

grimGadabout 03-24-2016 12:44 AM

When I put in "munch", it came up with:

*** GNRCRE RFNRYC, LEEBF ***

and the exact same message, but backwards.

I didn't see anything for it on the list, (and because of that list, I know that the picture I posted is a bit invalid. Sorry about that.) so I figured I could mention it.

Xavier 03-24-2016 12:46 AM

Damn it, I don't look for one day and this happens :p. This is so cool!

Thank you Manco for maintaining the list. I'm trying to recover my account on the oddworld wikia to create a page there with all the answers for easy reference.

That translates to *** SORRY, PLEASE REPEAT *** and is one of the generic responses. I haven’t been tracking the untranslated codes on the list which is why you didn’t see it there.

I thought you would’ve been the first one in!

Thank you Manco for maintaining the list. I'm trying to recover my account on the oddworld wikia to create a page there with all the answers for easy reference.

Once this is set up it’ll probably be best to store responses in a table, complete with all the possible untranslated variations, to prevent more false positives.

Havoc 03-24-2016 01:40 AM

Damn, you people work quick. I've created a dedicated page for the ARG details on the Wikia, so feel free to collect and sum up all the information you can find in there. You should be able to edit without an account.

Manco 03-24-2016 01:52 AM

Another response: [ERROR] Most likely a generic response, but I received it by typing “addicted”.

grimGadabout 03-24-2016 01:53 AM

I think I might've actually found something this time.

I typed in "how can abe find you" and i got the response of "*** WE'VE HEARD OF HIM, CAN YOU SEE HIM? ***"

I also typed in "have you heard of abe" and I got "***ABE?***"

“how can abe find you” doesn’t give me that response, just the same responses as “abe” on its own. It might just be a very rare message to get.

“abe” on its own gave me:

*** ABE? *** (and scrambled/coded variations of. Fun fact: Abe backwards and ciphered is RON)
AGH YRFANOBFCFESQ] BR[VF URBVZ-XBER G --> NTU LESNABOSPSRFD] OE[IS HEOIM-KORE T --> [THIS FORM IS BROKEN - PLEASE DO NOT USE]

They seem to have changed some of the responses to use square brackets instead of asterisks.

Another new generic response: *** HBL ENRU ANP V GHO - BUPR AN F'RERUG *** ---> *** THERE'S AN ECHO - BUT I CAN HEAR YOU ***
edit: another: *** SORRY, SAY AGAIN? ***

grimGadabout 03-24-2016 02:06 AM

I just got that new generic one. And whenever I mention Abe at all, it keeps coming up with that question.

edit: Also, [ERROR] and its variations are popping up a lot.

STM 03-24-2016 02:10 AM

Has anyone thought about the potential that some of the astetisked responses form part of a longer excerpt? I was just wondering if some responses might go together to form a longer piece of text.

Slugology 03-24-2016 02:46 AM

FEECO DEPOT gives [OUT OF SIGHT], but im guessing thats probably one of the generic messages

EDIT: ALF gives JUST ONE MORE DROP, unciphered and reversed

I started the table on the wikia, I'll work on it a bit more tonight if I find some time:

Hello everyone,
I've been following the thread since it has starded and you did a great job so far.
I have just created an account because i've stumbled upon that while i was trying to find new things to decypher with the form.

http://i.imgur.com/8gkaSDq.jpg?1

I suppose it appears no matter what you write at your 75th attempt because the picture's name is attemptnumberseventyfive.jpg

http://i.imgur.com/2jWoBmC.jpg?1

There is certainly something hidden in that picture but I still don't know what, I'm sure one of you will have an idea.
(and I hope it works for you, i'm not an expert at posting and uploading stuff...)

SgabbitGabbiar 03-24-2016 06:02 AM

Wow! Very interesting! Thanks for your contribution!

Varrok 03-24-2016 06:05 AM

Cool! I wonder how it's crypted

Nepsotic 03-24-2016 06:08 AM

I tried so hard to figure out what the 75 thing was.
If you look at the source code for the page, you'll see "attempt number 75" at the top. I'm glad I was actually onto something with that. Good job, man. I'm going to try resampling it with Harmor and messing around with it in PS. I'm on my phone right now so if someone wants to try changing the file type that might be a good shout.

Varrok 03-24-2016 06:15 AM

The image is solved, it leads to here.

Nepsotic 03-24-2016 06:16 AM

I see "spirit of"
Also, how did he find that?

EDIT: Notice how this whole page looks like it was written on an old mobile keypad. The spacing of the letters and shit.

SgabbitGabbiar 03-24-2016 06:19 AM

i see also "find me" and "rescue me"

Varrok 03-24-2016 06:21 AM

The key to understanding the image is to squint your eyes looking at it.

I actually can't, but a friend of mine did figure it out. It says the name of the file.

SgabbitGabbiar 03-24-2016 06:26 AM

if you see closely somewhere there's a "0451.jpg".

Then i wrote "oddworld.com/soulstorm/0451.jpg"

And i got this:

http://oddworld.com/soulstorm/0451.jpg

mlg man 03-24-2016 06:28 AM

http://www.oddworld.com/soulstorm/0451.jpg

Edit: damn it SgabbitGabbiar beat me to it.

The text file also contains

findme
hear me
rescue me
spirit
of

Sorry :p

We could try to move the "glitched parts" of the image back to place, maybe the remaining parts are gonna tell us something

Nepsotic 03-24-2016 06:46 AM

It's the Brewery.

mlg man 03-24-2016 06:47 AM

I noticed that Googling 0451 gave some really interesting references to other games like Bioshock and Deus Ex.

Hmmm... Is there some significance to this number?

Varrok 03-24-2016 06:51 AM

It's the Brewery.

No shit

Babiroussa 03-24-2016 06:52 AM

I'm pretty sure Lorne Lanning mentioned Pink Floyd as being is favourite band, in one of his GDC interviews.

Nepsotic 03-24-2016 06:52 AM

I didn't notice that it was so obvious until I looked at it again.
