Hmm, short block :D
anyway here is part two of chapter 6 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Source Search (part 2) “We can’t just stay here, we must find a way to turn on the generators” said Zaypher looking at the darkness around him. “That light must be powered by a small generator or something small” said Admeet looking at the bulb, “If we can find that generator, we can get enough power into the PDA. We’ll need that adapter first. Zaypher ran towards the slightly illuminated desk and grabbed the adapter. And just in time; hundreds creatures came from one corridor to the far left of Admeet. Strangely, they were Paramites. However, they were not aiming for the duo; they were running away from something. “What the heck are Paramites doing here” said Zaypher stepping away from the stampede. Then there came a small rumble. It became louder and louder until a small pack of animals came into the Slig’s view. “What the heck are they” said Admeet pointing at them with the pulse cutter. “I don’t know but they don’t look friendly” said Zaypher. They were shaped like Paramites and stood like Paramites but they had row upon row of sharp teeth in their tentacles. Their green skin was slightly lighter than the Paramites and they emitted a slightly bright green light from their skin. The tentacles couldn’t be retracted fully but they could still put food into their mouth. They showed their razor sharp teeth towards the terrified Sligs. “What do we do?” said Zaypher. Admeet stood still waiting for something to happen. Then suddenly, Dagger Roaches sprung out of nowhere and attacked the new creatures. They tackled the creatures to the ground and fought to the death. Admeet knew that this was the time to escape. “Run” he shouted to Zaypher. The two Sligs ran out of the generator room and entered a maintenance chamber. Zaypher turned on the flashlight. On the left side was a small adaptable generator. Zaypher plugged the adapter into the generator and plugged the other end into the PDA. “Come on, where are you” Admeet whispered to himself as he was handed the PDA from Zaypher. Admeet touched the PDA to find the location Klazor suggested. The screams from the Dagger Roaches and the new creatures got louder as Admeet tried to find the Location. Then at last, he found the place. “Shires Beam” said Admeet to Zaypher, “That’s where we need to go”. “Then keep the PDA on charge” said Zaypher, “We’ll need it to navigate towards the location”. The Power meter on the PDA showed 15% full. “It may take at least 10 minutes for it to charge fully” said Admeet turning around to face Zaypher. Admeet readied the pulse cutter and Zaypher readied his crowbar. |
I like it. The tenseness of the situation is building...
Awesome. I think the plot is developing nicely. The way you described the new creatures was pretty interesting!
Lord Stanley: Thankyou :)
AlexFili: Thankyou :) |
Oh deary me. Dagger roaches are quite an irritating species. Course I'd say that about all roaches.
I agree. Roaches, bleh. Story, very good.
Let's all hug a dagger roach! (Walks up to one and hugs it)
*Hugs it also*
I suspect the only hug I'd give a dagger roach would be a hug of death which is a form of suffocation.

Chapter 7
Charge Defence 2 minutes went past and the power meter had reached 25%. “A quarter of the way there” said Zaypher encouragingly. Then the new creatures appeared in front of them; they were angry. Admeet pulled the trigger on the pulse cutter and an orange beam of energy shot out and hit the first creature. It stumbled about, in pain, but quickly regained its footing. Zaypher swung the crowbar at another creature and it stabbed the creature in the shoulder. It shrieked in pain and attacked Zaypher. It missed and Zaypher went for another swing with the crowbar. This time it stabbed it in the head. The creature stumbled and fell to the floor, paralysed. The Power meter now was now at 33%; a third of the way there. Admeet kept on shooting at the creatures but then he had to reload. A creature leapt towards him and pinned him to the ground. “Zaypher” he shouted, “get this thing off me!” Zaypher whacked the creature off with the crowbar. Then more Dagger Roaches came out of nowhere again and attacked the creatures. The two types fought with no side gaining an advantage. The power meter now read 47%. “Come on already” shouted Zaypher. 2 more minutes past and the fight over the two animal species carried on. The Power metre was at 69% now. Now the mutated Slig specimens had joined in the fight. Some of them poured boiling acid over the creatures and some pounced on their victims and clawed them to death. “Come on, just 31 percent to go” said Admeet looking at the meter. They stood back amongst the fight and waited for the meter to reach 100%. “What were they doing down here” said Zaypher. “Well, judging by the hideous mutated Sligs and the new creatures, I say they were doing biological testing” replied Admeet. Admeet reloaded the pulse cutter as meter reached 90%. “Almost there” said Admeet looking at the meter. Now many dead bodies lay on the ground. Most of them were the bodies of the mutated Sligs but the other creatures had suffered greatly. Then the meter reached 100%. “Great” said Admeet unplugging the adapter from the PDA, “Let’s go”. Admeet and Zaypher rushed out of the maintenance room and back up to the entrance. Klazor welcomed them back. “So, you’ve found the location” he said. “Yes” said Admeet, “apparently, it is a shrine called Shire’s Beam. And do you know what those creatures were down there?” “Well, they are biologically tampered Paramites, we call them Scaranites”. “So that’s why there were a stampede of Paramites in the generator room” said Zaypher. “We haven’t fully explored Shire’s Beam” said Klazor, “so you won’t know what to expect” “Thanks for the help” replied Admeet. “No worries” replied Klazor, “Oh and take this”. He handed Admeet and Zaypher two Dagger Roach queen hearts. “Now the Dagger Roaches won’t even touch you” said Klazor. “Thanks again” said Admeet. The two Sligs exited the labs and came out into the re-growing landscape. There was nothing that could stop the Sligs now. |
Do I detect a healthly helping of Half-Life 2? Not that Half-Life 2 is bad.
Whos' Klazor again? And what about Solister? |
I like that line, nothing could stop the Sligs now. Of course, that alludes that something will happen to them (because otherwise, it would be a boring story.) Continue!
Oddey: I think the crowbar is a nice melee weapon for someone to use and it is handy in some everyday situations. The plasma cutter emits an orange beam and hurts them, not pushes them over. I didn't intend on copying the move where Gordon Freeman shoots at an Antlion with the Gravity gun. Klazor is the Slig who has held out in the labs and is protected by the Dagger Roaches. Solister is believed to have gone to 'Shires Beam' where all of the test subjects injected with the pulse energy have gone to.
Lord Stanley: Thanks :) |
I hope they can rescue Solister!
The dagger queen roach hearts is very similar to the Antlion commandy thingy though. I've not sure what it's called, but most of that chapter sounds remarkably similar to Half-Life 2.
Critique from me is a good thing. It shows I care enough to give it out. Unless it doesn't need any. |
Yeah, I did copy pheropod idea from Half life, it seemed like a good idea.
For those of you who don't know about pheropods (get ready for a small lecture), they are glandular sacks that are located within a myrmidont (otherwise known as an antlion guard). The creatures give out pheromones to the soldiers and the workers on what to do - different pheromone scents mean different commands. There you have it |
Slig75! Where are you? Stuck in Paramonia for weeks?
Don't worry, I'm still here, I just haven't had time to do the next chapter
Likewise, I might not even have had time to read it. After this week, I will though.
I like these stories. I will try and write more soon.
Phew, I was afraid you were gone or something. I've been reading these stories for about a year now, and I was afraid you were "on da verge of goin' outta business," as Alf says.
Sorry its been so long. Coursework and exams getting in the way. anyway here is the next chapter
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 8 Discovery and Transformation After a couple of miles, a few Dagger Roaches joined the two Sligs in their Journey to find Solister. They were very friendly now as they would defend them to the death. “When will we know when were there?” asked Zaypher. “I don’t know” replied Admeet, “we’ll just have to follow the PDA’s signal”. It was starting to get cooler as the sun was starting to slip below the horizon. Night was moving in. “We’d better hurry” said Admeet, “its getting dark”. The two Sligs hurried on towards the location. Then there came a strange object in the horizon. Whatever it was, it was emitting a brilliant purple light. “What’s that over there” said Zaypher looking at the dazzling spectacle. “I don’t know but the PDA says that’s the location” replied Admeet, “Let’s go”. The object got closer and closer as the Sligs ran towards it. Then it became clear, this was no ordinary place. The purple light was a large beam that was emitted from a large piece of floating rock. The two Sligs couldn’t believe what they were seeing. “How many odd spectacles are there on this world” said Zaypher, “This is by far the oddest”. Four stone half-arches surrounded the circular pit where the beam shot through. “Well, I think we are here” said Admeet, “Shire’s Beam”. The two Sligs came closer to the beam. However, they saw some Sligs sat down by the beam. Their skin colour was a dark black and their eyes were pure white. However, they did not attack. “What are they doing?” said Zaypher inspecting them. They noticed that bands of purple essence soaked into their skin. “Well, judging by what has happened to Solister and if she is here, the purple beam has something to do with this” replied Admeet, “Maybe, that beam is the pure essence of evil”. What they didn’t notice however was a female being, crawling among one of the half-arches and inspecting Admeet’s every move. “We are only here for Solister, no one else” said Admeet. Then, the female being jumped from the top of the half-arch and landed on the brown dirt and dust. The Two Sligs turned around in surprise to see it was Solister. However, she had changed since the last time they saw her. She was just like the others, dark black skin and white eyes. Evil had taken over her completely. Admeet felt terrified but he had to hide away inside him. Zaypher led the Dagger Roaches following them away; he knew Admeet had to do this alone. The dark and light eyed each other for a bit but then Solister leapt forward and shot purple electricity at not Admeet, but Zaypher. Zaypher didn’t realise this until he felt the bolt knock him back a long way. “Not again” he shouted as he flew through the air. He landed on the hard ground and the Dagger Roaches quickly tended to his wounds. Admeet seized his chance and tackled Solister to the ground. They fought on the ground for a bit with no side gaining an advantage. However, Solister managed to get her feet under Admeet’s stomach area and she kicked him really hard. He was thrown pushed towards the beam. He landed on the dirt but got up quickly. Solister just eyed the Slig next to the beam. “There’s only one thing I can do” said Admeet looking at the beam. Zaypher lifted his head and looked at Admeet. Then he realised what was going to happen. “No Admeet, don’t do it!” shouted Zaypher weakly. “I have no choice” said Admeet, “Just snap me out of it when the time is right”. And with that, Admeet stepped into the beam. He was magically lifted half way up the beam. He felt so much dark energy flow through him. Solister just stared at the floating Admeet in anger. Admeet’s skin started to turn black and his eyes turned from a bright red into a white. A black and purple aurora shimmered across Admeet’s body. He then flew out of the beam and landed on the ground. His body was made up of pure evil now. Admeet and Solister eyed each other with anger and hatred in their faces. The clash of the darkness had begun. |
Oh no... what if Admeet fails and turns into a force of evil to be with Solister?! Will the world end?
Nah, you know how these stories work. He beats Solister, and either she dies or is turned good again...unless (subtle hint here) Slig75 decides to make something unexpected...
Only time will tell
You are my favorite writer at the moment. I have enjoyed reading your stories very much.
Ah... Not what I had expected, which I thank you for.
AlexFili: Thankyou :D
Oddey: Thankyou |
Chapter 9
Clash and Remove Admeet leapt forward and tackled Solister to the ground. But upon rolling over, Solister kicked with her legs and sent Admeet towards one half-arches. But as soon as he hit the ground, he was up on his feet again. He quickly shot out purple electricity out of his hands but the bolt missed and hit another half-arch. Solister did the same but it also missed and this time entered the beam. The beam shot out the electricity again but this time it was more powerful. It hit one of the half-arches and cracked part of the stone to reveal a peculiar pattern of bronze and gold metal. Admeet and Solister ignored this and kept on fighting. Admeet ran towards Solister and got ready to punch her. However, when his fist made contact, Solister counter-attacked and blocked his fist with her left hand. She in turn tried to punch him but was blocked with his left hand as well. The two were struggling to keep a firm grip on the opposition. Then Solister started to create electricity around her hands which started to make Admeet struggle even more. Admeet did the same with his hands but the effect wasn’t as powerful. He then, with all his power threw Solister over himself. She hit the ground with a thud but quickly got up again. The two of them fought for at least an hour with scorch marks littering the battlefield. Admeet Leapt up onto the top of a half-arch and Solister did the same on another opposite him. The two eyed each other. Then Admeet shot an electric bolt towards Solister but she did the same towards Admeet. Strangely, both bolts connected in a flash of light and sparks; both sides weren’t retaliating. It was around a minute later as the two began to struggle and notice something at the same time. Shockwaves from the connection started to break the remaining labs of stone to reveal a larger view of bronze and gold. At the end of each half-arch was a large purple gem stone. They all emitted purple electricity and the bolts hit the centre of the connection. A large orb of dark energy was forming around the centre of the connection. And strangely, Solister was starting to lose her black skin and white eyes; she was reverting back to her normal self. However, Admeet was getting more powerful and more evil by the second. The surge of energy in the orb was becoming too unstable as the connection started to weaken. Solister had now become too exhausted but Admeet just kept on going. Then finally, Solister fell to the ground, shattered. The fall from the half-arch broke some rib bones inside her; she screamed in the pain. the connection was broken. Admeet stopped the flow of electricity to his arms and looked at Solister on the ground. He then leapt of the half-arch and landed on the ground. He walked over to Solister, more anger in his eyes than before. Solister lifted her head weakly. Zaypher ran over to her, ignoring his pain and focusing on hers. “Admeet, snap out of this” Zaypher shouted, “You don’t know what you are doing”. Admeet said nothing and edged closer to the pair. “Please, Admeet, stop” Solister wheezed out of her slightly crushed lungs, “I don’t want to lose you like the way you lost me. Please Admeet. I... I... I love you” The last words stopped Admeet in his tracks. He stood there wide-eyed looking at Solister. He then realised what he was doing. His black skin started to fade into the original dark green. His eyes turned back to the original red. He stumbled slightly but then fell to the ground; he breathed heavily. All of his energy had vanished. Solister crawled slowly towards him and looked him in the eye. Admeet smiled towards her and she smiled weakly back. Then they brought their arms around each other in a comforting hug, relieved that it was all over. |
That's going to be quoted out of context in no time. And Admeet's probrably going to reacte a bit strangely to that as well. Zaypher must've said it out of desperation. I wonder if he really meant it...
See? I told you Admeet would win! But, anyway, nice chapter! I like this story. I check for updates every day.
While I knew this was probably going to happen, I'm really relieved right now. I felt sorry for poor Solister. Chapter ten should be very interesting. Keep up the good work!

Chapter 10
Lost A while past before the two Sligs got up on their feet and walked feebly towards Zaypher. “Good to see you again, Admeet” Zaypher said warm-heartedly. Admeet smiled and helped Solister to her feet fully. The three walked away from the shrine and towards a patch of forest on the horizon. A couple of dagger roaches joined the three. Solister didn’t flinch at the site as she somehow knew they wouldn’t attack. She just walked on trying to ignore the pain inside her. Admeet was also struggling slightly as he was totally exhausted from before. It was only Zaypher who wasn’t struggling as he helped the two along. “Almost there” said Zaypher encouraging the two. When they finally reached the near-centre of the wood, they could hear a rushing stream. The three quickly reached the water’s edge and took big mouthfuls. “Lovely” said Admeet quietly. Solister collapsed on the soft grass just near a grey boulder. Admeet sat down next to her and put his right arm around her back. Solister leant beside Admeet and closed her eyes. “In the nick of time” said Zaypher, “The sun is starting to slip down over the horizon”. Admeet nodded but said nothing; he closed his eyes. Zaypher smiled at them and sat down in front of a tree. He closed his eyes and waited for the new day. Meanwhile near the edge of the wood. “Got to get away, got to get away” whispered a figure to himself. He was running through the wood into the centre. He then tripped over a half-buried root and fell to the soft ground. He panted heavily and looked into the dark of the forest. He saw three Sligs near a flowing river. He felt lost and confused. “Where am I?” ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This installment is now finished. Quite a short plot and story to be honest. Thankyou for your comments everyone :). the next installment is coming soon |
Yay story!!!
Well done Slig75. I enjoyed this story and I am glad there was a happy ending :D
Thankyou :)
I'm not really sure what to say. I'm speechless, but you'll have to decide wether that's good or not.
This is a new story now in this series. It's showing how this mystery Slig ended up in the previous story. Please comment on the first chapter :).
-------------------------------------------------------------------------- Portal Conspiracy Chapter 1 Entryway 3 days ago The rubbing of the tram along the rails made a screeching sound as it ran along. Inside were at least four Sligs carrying suitcases full of their private belongings. One of these Sligs was sitting down on one of the tram seats. He was wearing a black leather jacket and black trousers. He tapped his fingers nervously on the suitcase he was holding. Standing by the tram door was a soldier who held his assault rifle by his side. The Slig was nervous about this because he knew that every soldier had an itchy trigger finger. He waited anxiously for the tram to stop at the nearest station. The next stop was a station connected to outpost X16. To take the time, he looked out of the tram window next him. It was a strange environment out there. It was a mix of greenery and industrial machinery. Then there were square shaped houses crammed inside the industrial sites. Then he finally saw the station up ahead near a large factory. The tram started to slow down as it came under the station roof. The soldier in the tram kept an eye on the other passengers. Then the tram finally stopped and the automatic doors opened. The Slig stood up and followed the others out of the doors and onto the station platform. The Slig walked towards the end of the platform only to find the others being registered by another soldier. These soldiers were strangely humanoid and always carried a slightly modified Walther SP22/M2 hand gun with a notch and post site. The others were standing in a single-file line saying their name out to the soldier while he registered them down on a note book. The queue moved slowly forward; the Slig was right at the back of it. After a minute or so, it was the Sligs turn to register. “Name?” asked the solider inaudibly under the grey gas mask he was wearing. However, the Slig could hear it. “Rigel” the Slig replied. The soldier wrote the name down and put the pencil in his left buttoned pocket. “Move” he said in a commanding way. Rigel moved away from the soldier and walked towards a passage with a sign above it saying “D Boundary”. He recognized this as the downtown area. The passage was a set of steps leading down to a long hallway similar to that of a metro station. He walked down the steps and entered the long hallway. The floor of the hallway was mostly paved but had a few tiles scattered along it. The walls were completely tiled with small square slabs that were white. Some had been cut off from the wall - either they were on the floor or they had been taken away. Bits of paper and rubbish littered the floor. Rigel ignored these pointless obstacles and carried on. It was strangely quiet with only the noise of some of the paper being blown down the hallway by the wind. He knew that there was an exit somewhere to the outside. Soon he reached a turn to the left where he saw daylight. The exit was in the middle of a town square. However, it was even quieter out there. Rigel walked up the steps to the square only to see a quiet existence. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Alexfili: I was wondering if I could give an art request? |
Good chapter.
Um, yeah I can draw something for you. Just send it me in a PM and we'll talk about specifics. |
Yay story!!! An interesting beginning...WHICH WILL SOON DEVELOP INTO TONS OF SHOOTING, HAHAHAHAHA (man, my evil laugh isn't very evil in text)!
