That's what Hand of Odd is supposed to be.

Meechonia probably exists, even though it's not in AO. But Abe will probably never wear sunglasses. It just doesn't fit in with Oddworld.

When AO came out, I don't think anybody thought Glukkons would eventually wear sunglasses either.

Glockstars do. ;)

Glockstars wear sunglasses. :)

Abe will never, ever wear sunglasses.

mudling 07-14-2008 04:57 AM

Those Munch sunglasses are bad, very, VERY bad.
Yeah, I don't think I'm the only one who's dissapointed with the direction oddworld is going, I mean, I'd be happier if Glockstars never existed and oddworld went back to it's dark roots, from AO, sure, I liked the humour, but maybe if it was in smaller doses and seperated from abe's journey, owell, I guess it pleases some people and not everyone can be happy.

GlukkonGluk 07-14-2008 10:26 AM

A free roaming RPG sounds like a cool idea- as long as we get Abe back, or at least someone familiar, and Gamespeak

LaraRaider 07-16-2008 09:39 AM

All right, all right I'm removing sunglasses from my list.

DirectX 10 3D Graphics
Windows Vista Support
HD-DVD FMV's
HD Sound FX and Music. No MIDI
History Mode: Play AO, AE, MO and SW. With DirectX 10 3D Graphics
Preview Mode: Preview Hand of Odd and other Oddworld never relealed games.
Minigames: Example: Run from the slog, paramite pies fight :D
Extras: Interviews, beta versions, playble Paramites Stockyards, etc.
Safari Mode: Explore all rooms from all locations of AO, AE, MO and SW
Slig Mode: Play as Slig
Training Mode: Train your skills with Abe (possesion and other features)
Customize Mode: Customize Abe apperence

You can already find the interviews on the Internet. Paramite Stockyards will probably be playable in ME, since Abe might go back to RuptureFarms. Beta versions are beta versions: the developers think they're not that good, that's why they change it, so there would be no reason to put beta versions in the final game. You can't just explore Oddworld, one part is explored in one game, while another part is included in the next game. It would be much more fun to explore these locations in different games, then just stuff it all in one game. Slig mode will NEVER happen, because Sligs are too ugly. That's why SligStorm was canceled. Abe trains his skills in the story of the game, so training mode isn't needed. And if Abe only wears a loincloth, he looks weaker, so customizing Abe's appearance would stop Abe from being "the skinny guy with no weapons" as the back of the AO cover describes him.

Wil 07-16-2008 05:28 PM

Yes, Paramite Stockyards will probably be playable in Oddworld: Munch’s Exoddus when it is released in 2009, published by Majesco and with FMVs put together by Vanguard Animation.

MeechShrykull1029 07-16-2008 05:52 PM

If ME will be released, it wn't be until at least 2012 (certainly not in 2009).

Wil 07-16-2008 06:31 PM

You’re right. Possibly even early 2013, probably January or February.

Oddsville 07-16-2008 07:40 PM

Actually January 15th to be exact.

Hobo 07-16-2008 11:14 PM

I heard that for one level... MUNCH WEARS A TOP HAT AND MONOCLE

I DON'T KNOW ABOUT THAT IT SEEMS LIKE SUNGLASSES WOULD BE A MUCH BETTER IDEA AFTER ALL IT'S NOT LIKE MUNCH HAS TO SWIM AT HIGH SPEEDS THROUGH MURKY WATER OR ANYTHING

Slig mode will NEVER happen, because Sligs are too ugly. That's why SligStorm was canceled.

Am I the only one that thinks Slig's aren't ugly? In the Art Of book there's a small sketch of a BigBro with no mask (it says something about their eyes being small and pathetic-looking) and I don't think it's ugly at all. And you say Slig-mode will never happen, well isn't possessing Sligs a kind of 'Slig-mode'?

Anyway, for the next game I'd like something where you can roam around freely (like SW) but not so freely that you can get to every part of the game from the start (...like SW). It would be good to bring back the dark atmosphere, and maybe have some nighttime levels where you can hadly see anything and have to be extra carefull.

Another thing that would be good would be to have 'real' wounds. For example, if you get shot in the arm you can't use your arm until it gets healed. If you break your leg you limp everywhere. And if you get shot in the head you die instantly, etc. etc.

Jordan 07-18-2008 12:45 PM

I liek your idea Glacier. <3 Free roaming will absolutely rock!

Meech, I really don't think SligStorm was cancelled for that reason y'know...

You can't actually roam around in Stranger's Wrath. Each boss is along a linear path, and each town connects to the next via a linear path, and each part of the river is along a linear ...river. The only 'free roaming' aspect is being able to wander around the (small) towns themselves.

Does that count? Maybe it does, but it seemed like you were describing Beyond Good & Evil or Legend of Zelda style roamingness, where you can roam freely but obviously can't get to all locations from the beginning.

MeechShrykull1029 07-18-2008 04:02 PM

I remember reading somewhere that it's the reason SligStorm was canceled. It could've just been someone's opinion, but I think that it's the reason.

Wil 07-18-2008 04:07 PM

According to Matt Lee, SligStorm was—at least in part—dropped because the publishers thought no one would want to play as a Slig because they’re so ugly. I suspect a bigger reason was that OWI wanted to move onto bigger things, like the next-gen, added-dimensional Munch.

I remember someone (possibly Paul O'Connor, possibly Lorne, possibly Alf) talking about this as a concept and saying that it would never work because it would detract from gameplay enjoyment and make it harder to find a safe spot in which to heal.

Thinking about it, limping everywhere trying desperately to escape the bullets that are flying at you from every direction does sound a bit frustrating.

I've never played Beyond Good & Evil or Legend of Zelda :fuzsad:. And now you mention it, SW was quite linear when it came to ways to get to places...

Slig faces remind me of Spiders, and I LOVE Spiders.

OddYouko 07-21-2008 02:17 PM

That reminds me of those big machine things Sligs ride! I forget the name of them but Lorne said something about them in one video. Also those mosquitoe looking machines that would pick up a character.

Biggy Bro Slig 08-02-2008 06:05 AM

Well...first, I'd like it a 2D-Side Scrolling game again, but let's face it - there's more chance of Glukkons recycling their pepsi cans than there is an old-fashioned arcade-type of game coming out.

I'd like to see some good enviroments like there was in Stranger's Wrath...and NO cartoony Munch's Oddysee sounds. I want something dark like the first two games :D
