The running bug is fixed in the latest patch, at least on my machine I'm not having trouble with it anymore. I can't remember what the solution was...

Hmm, apparently the problem was nothing to do with movement assuming a a framerate of 30 FPS like I thought. It was to do with floating points. (If you don't know, computers aren't very good at calculating decimal numbers. You could tell a computer to calculate 1 + 1 and it wouldn't be shocking for it to return 1.99823.) Apparently an optimization we were using took approximations too far, resulting in the bugged movement. We're no longer using that optimization.

Aw heck I just noticed that I never unlocked the achievement for finishing the game on Normal. Instead I got the Easy achievement somehow?

:

()
You think that is annoying?

I completed it on hard and bountied well over 250 alive and didn't get any achievements from that first Gloktigi battle or onwards. :fuzsad:

My first thought was that it was something to do with achievements being out of sync, as in, you're supposed to unlock one achievement but it actually unlocks the one next to it (Steam refers to a game's achievements by a list of consecutive numbers). This was a problem with some of the later achievements in the original PC release.

But no, it's something to do with Steam not recognizing itself as being online. It used to be that Steam had to be online for any achievements to unlock, but we can now cache them: your Steam installation will now recognize you've unlocked the correct achievements and tell central Steam the next time you start Steam in online mode with a working Internet connection.

Don't ask me how it was unlocking any achievements at all despite allegedly being offline. Point is, it seems to work since we made them offline.

EDIT: WALL OF DEVSPLAINING

I am amused. Especially given that my own code fell in a heap this morning due to floating point comparisons. It wasn't my fault. How was I to know that Python can't even copy a float to a new variable - with no arithmetic applied - and retain its binary form?!

Thank you for your reply. My laptop is always online and by default so is Steam, I will try playing the game in Offline mode and see how it goes... :fuzzle:

It's not necessarily because your computer or Steam were offline. Just that there was something happening to give the game the impression Steam was offline.

No need for you to play in offline mode. Once the patch goes up, the changes will mean you'll get the achievements whether you're online or off.

Ok I will hold fire until then, I am looking forward to playing it again anyway. :fuzblink:

Whilst I remember my Stranger's Wrath HD plays fine in 1080p, 100fps. It is even playable with Anti-Aliasing 4x (8x causes some lag). Good job, the game is excellent and it has been a joy to play again after all these years. Thank you very much!

However I do have some bugs to report but they are amusing. Once I got to the Native Village I started to notice graphical issues. Stranger spent the rest of the game permanantly pouting!

I also noticed all the live ammo in the environment suddenly became low resolution polygons.

Just played for a few minutes with the update. Can anyone remind me what the default max frames per second was?

I shot out the last Rupturefarms barrel again and the Free The Meat acheivement still didn't unlock. Has anyone else had any issues with that?

The game is still crashing whilst trying to load savegames from the pause menu in the latter levels. On the plus side, it is now closing cleanly when I quit.

Take a look at the screenshot I've attached below. The 'Low Stamina' notification is misplaced and is being cut off by the side of the screen.

Wil 10-28-2012 05:48 AM

That's not good. I'll make a note of them, as well as that scrunched-up countdown clock.

pupbenny 10-28-2012 08:05 AM

The update jhas happened?

Wil 10-28-2012 10:13 AM

The update has happened.

Manco 10-28-2012 02:09 PM

So here’s a weird bug I encountered:

If it isn’t obvious, the fonts are incorrect – compare with the font in this screenshot and this one (and this one for the bounty menu).

Varrok 10-28-2012 02:23 PM

But... but I thought they just changed those. And I thought it's better now :(

Wil 10-28-2012 03:58 PM

Not a bug. All the menu fonts were changed because the one used previously didn't support characters used in the new Polish, Russian and (to be added later) Czech translations.

It even says as much in the changelog.

Varrok 10-28-2012 10:02 PM

It has a Polish translation now?! Yay

*doesn't use*

The update has happened.

This is odd. Now it's working but after the screen of the OWI logo with the little peoples running around it it says "This application has stopped working" and it shuts down.... It doesn't even get to the menu. :P

Oh, my mistake.

It does cause a minor issue though – the infinity symbol for the Zappfly has been replaced with ^.

Anyone got an update on this?

Also, has JAW and OWI made profit on SWHD? Not just the PC version I mean as a whole. Just curious.

Varrok 10-31-2012 10:51 AM

No, it made only loss, so they don't have any money to make any new projects, and they don't.

pupbenny 11-03-2012 08:08 AM

Is no one going to answer me? :P

Varrok 11-03-2012 08:25 AM

Did it work before the update?

Haruka 11-03-2012 08:42 AM

My Stranger's Wrath HD for PC has got a very big lag (making the game unplayable) even with default settings. My graphic card is an ATI Radeon HD 5700 Series.

What resolution are you running it at? Do you have any anti-aliasing enabled? Do you have instance rendering or Vsync enabled?

Haruka 11-03-2012 04:55 PM

As I said before, my settings are default, meaning I did not applied anti-aliasing or Vsync. My resolution as at 1280x1024.

Nate 11-03-2012 07:40 PM

What are the specs of your computer? Have you updated all your drivers, especially the graphics drivers?

DarkHoodness 11-04-2012 03:56 AM

@Haruka - I own a Radeon HD 6800 series. Before the last update, Stranger used to lag when "Vsync" wasn't checked but worked completely fine for me after it was. However now that it's been updated, it now works with it either on or off.

You tried it since the update? There was also a new ATi driver update a couple of days ago. You may have to play with your 3D graphics settings after you install it, though.

pupbenny 11-04-2012 07:14 AM

With me the menu doesn't load.

K100 11-07-2012 06:45 PM

Hi. I encountered a bug in the game that wasn't there before the patch.
The giant sleg is glitched:

Also, the achievement "Crystal Mess" isn't working.

K100 11-08-2012 08:24 AM

Sorry for the double post but I have an other problem.
I have started the game on hard. The first four bosses were really hard to capture alive. But now, the bosses are really easy to capture, they recover their stamina slowly, like on easy difficulty.
