And you also could be run over by a drunk guy! I suggest you to not breath: it'd be safer for you, remember that air is polluted and so you could get a cancer!

STM 07-10-2011 03:01 AM

Oh shit I'd better go buy a bubble.

All of my rep

STM 07-10-2011 04:04 AM

I would like to say that the chances of you dying from a drunk driver are low, dying from airborne pollutants are low in most places unless you live in some sprawling city, which I don't. Cigarettes increase your chances of death by a horrible slow cancer with every smoke.

There's a difference between "oh no I might get hit by a car/trampled by zebras/struck by lightning" and "this is literally filling your lungs with toxins".

By your logic, we should all be jumping off bridges, taking heroin, eating dozens of pizzas every day, boxing with tigers and going swimming in freezing water because hey quit being such a pussy

STM 07-10-2011 04:16 AM

^ worded far better than I could.

I exaggerated it, sorry (and a little was kidding :)). I meant that two, three, four, cigarettes a day will never hurt you. Some say if a man eats too many proteins he'll have some kidney or liver disease. My trainer, and not just him, a lot of body builder who I know have been eaten lots of proteins for 15-20 years and never had problems.

Obviously, if you smoke 15-20 cigarettes a day you'll have a lot of problems with your health.

But this doesn't work with heavy drugs!

Two, three, four cigarettes a day still increases your risk of health problems. Not as much as smoking 20 a day, but still higher than a non-smoker would have.

And that's still missing the point, because smoking two, three, four cigarettes a day can very easily lead to a 20-a-day habit. It's a slippery slope.

I actually smoke about three or four cigarettes a day and I feel like I don't need more cigarettes.

T-nex 07-10-2011 05:28 AM

My mom smokes two packs of cigarettes a day :( It really breaks my heart so much. It's depressing me. To me, that is the same thing as watching a cutter self-cut each day.

Why do you smoke? What do you get out of it?

moxco 07-10-2011 05:42 AM

It's not about what people get from smoking, rather what they get from not smoking; withdrawal effects

It helps me relaxing when I'm nervous and I like the sensation of the smoke in my body. It's weird, it's stupid, it's masochist... but I like it. But I swear I don't smoke more than four (five when I'm very nervous) cigarettes.

moxco 07-10-2011 05:48 AM

But do you like the sensation of malignant lungs? Four (or five) cigarettes is easily enough to cause caner.

abe is now! 07-10-2011 05:54 AM

What the hell are you saying? It's not enough, and btw I haven't malignant lungs. I know what I'm feeling. I am not afraid of smoking a few cigarettes if then I practise aerobic sports.

moxco 07-10-2011 05:59 AM

People develop health problems from second-hand smoke; five a day is easily enough.

Dixanadu 07-10-2011 06:32 AM

Not to mention after a satisfying feed, there's nothing like a good smoke afterward.

STM 07-10-2011 07:19 AM

And rather than facing why you are feeling worried you placate yourself by smoking which is causing you harm yet you post in another thread about how healthy you like to be. Face your worries head on because right now you are mirroring what fat people do when they get bored, comfort binge.

Every time you smoke you significantly increase your chances of getting various cancers, decreasing your cardio and lowering your sperm count. Oh and God kills a kitten.

:

()
He's not going to have any healt problems if he sometimes smokes a cigarette and not twenty cigarettes a day!

:

()
He might not want the health problems involved with smoking...that might put you off.

:

()
What's the matter with cigarettes? I mean, what makes you refuse them? Do you think you'll be not pure after smoked, or are you afraid of being caught by your mom? ;)

Thank you for answering for me STM.

Thought I didn't really think that was a question that needed answering.

Bedies health problems, I don't wanna ruin my looks either.

OK, this makes no sense. There isn't some threshold at which you will get some form of cancer from smoking; having four cigarettes a day is increasing you're chance of getting lung/throat cancer. Not as much as someone smoking 20 a day, but more than me. Also, it's smoking and exercising is not like eating and exercising. You can't inhale all that smoke and chemicals and then burn it off by doing exercise.

metroixer 07-10-2011 08:46 AM

I'm just going to say I had a health teacher who's dad lived up to 91. The semester I had him was when his dad died, he was perfectly healthy but still got a rare cancer from his smoking. He hasn't smoked in over 50 years and smoked less than 100 cigs.

Of course, that's what I was told, probably more complicated than that.

I read you were out drinking with your friends: don't think that drinking alcohol doesn't ruin you as much as cigarettes! If it doesn't hurt your lungs, it hurts your liver.

Wings of Fire 07-10-2011 10:05 AM

There are many more arguments in favour for casual drinking than there are for casual smoking.

STM 07-10-2011 11:14 AM

Drinking is bad as is smoking so moderate both or do neither.

Wings of Fire 07-10-2011 11:18 AM

X is as bad as Y

So if you're doing X

Do Y

???

Casual drinking could lead to drunkenness; casual smoking won't... also remember that alcohol damages brain, liver, skin, stomach, teeth.

STM 07-10-2011 11:28 AM

Smoking damages lungs, brain, nails, teeth, stomach, skin, hair, sperm, intelligence over a long period and causes malignant tumours and cancers. Neither is good so rather thank defend either drinking or smoking, realise that both is bad and should be restricted. The countries where excessive drinking and smoking is frowned upon generally live longer and are happier.

You make this sound like a bad thing (being slightly drunk isn't an unpleasant experience).

:

Smoking casually is much worse for your health than drinking casually. Drinking in moderation might actually be beneficial; even moderate smoking is still having a detrimental effect on your body.

I do remember something about the French swearing by a glass of wine a day or a week or something as having health benefits.

That's correlational fact. There's nothing to back up an actual link between the two.
