I'd like ot see this out but I'd feel kinda sad if this means no more oddworld (abe) games and new things instead, I'm guessing that this might make citizen siege more of a reality but no longer will we be the selective remebrants of the enigma that is oddworld history.

You guys have got to let Citizen Siege go. It isn't going to happen any more than Fangus.

I will say this, if they make another game I will buy it, and I will probably enjoy it. But I have little interest in social networks.

Dunno how much I would look forward to Citizen Siege. From what little was given to us, it seemed to be just Oddworld with humans (that's of course speaking in very general terms). It would be interesting to see how Lorne tackles human drama, and possibly romance in his narratives though. One of the great creative ironies is that it's immensely harder to write for people than it is for monsters and aliens.

I'm quite hopeful about the results of the AntiSocialNetwork, somehow I always felt the transformative potential of games belonged with Social Networks.


I always thought that the value in games was to bring forth experiences impossible in ordinary life that you could learn from which you could learn nowhere else. Now, when social networks started popping up it wasnt just about a geek isolated somewhere flipping out about some obscure subject, instead it became all about this unique experience only used to connect with other people.I feel the way we live in "real life" under the wills of corporations and the advertising ideals really limits the kind of interactions you can have with other people, but the net and social networks make me very hopeful because all you need is a common interest and you can get good people together and teach them new ways to relate with eachother just trough the nature of the communication media.

I admit the "antisocial" angle is not what I would expect, but Lorne's rationale for it hits all of those chords, so I really hope he does very well.

Maybe Mr. Lorne Lanning would like to come here and see this forum...

Don't get me wrong... new is good. But all-new Oddworld stuff unrelated to the originals is not really what I'm looking for right now...

I'll have to admit when I first read this I was pretty confused about the whole thing. I thought maybe I had been missing several weeks of news and this was just alitte part of it; so I came here to get some clarity and everyone else seems to be just as in the dark.

At first I thought Lorne was describing a place where people could meet that have different veiws or something of the such and set up a time and place to 'lock n' load', hell we got the forums for that (I'll see you tomorrow Max...*insert suspenseful music*). Guess we'll just have to wait and see...glad to see we'll be getting something at least.

What if it was like /b/, where you just have arguments with people anonymously, but when the argument gets heated you can challenge them to an arena match in a seperate, game-based area of the website... and have ragebattles?

It'd be like saying "you wanna fight me!?" to someone in real life... except in the end you actually do fight them.

Despite Lorne's failure to give us something concrete to look forward to, I'm still gunna egg him on. I may be the only one left in the whole stadium waving my foam "we're #1" finger, BUT I'M DAMN PROUD OF IT.

Wow... we are never going to see Oddworld again. Really, how many projects can one guy stick his dick in?

Lorne will never lose my support. Disappointed as I may be by the absense of finished works, Oddworld has given me so much and means so much to me. And quite frankly, things are so quite, it's never been easier to be a fan.

I still can't wait for the day where I'll either be sat in the cinema watching the movie, or I'll be immersed in the newest game. Whether it be 5 or 10 years time, I won't give up hope.

Besides, Tolkien's been dead for 36 years, and yet there are as many Lord of the Rings maniacs as ever. There doesn't necessarily need to be a constant flow of new products to support fans. Even if Lorne doesn't put out another single thing, I'm still grateful that he has given us Oddworld; it's been so much of an inspiration that there's really no need for anything else. Sure, it would be great to have a new movie, or a new game, but there doesn't have to be in order for me to love Oddworld as much as I always did.

The problem is, we've been waiting so long that when It* comes out we'll think it isn't good enough.

*My standardised term for the next Oddworld production, whatever it may be.

We might also be extremely glad just because something came out.
