The more recent episode where Bender finds out that he has a defect, but can't transfer into a backup and isn't 'immortal' was sort of another heart-string-tugger for me. Especially the ending montage that shows why Bender was pushed through the inspection line despite the fact that he was obviously defective.

Spoiler:

You do realize there's already like two new seasons right? Unless you're following them on the cusp of their premieres, I don't see how you could be sick of em already.

I don't know if they're airing here yet. If they are I don't know they are.

Sekto Springs 07-18-2011 12:08 PM

Watch them online. They're pretty easy to find.

Phylum 07-18-2011 12:36 PM

I'm currently sharing 20Gb a month with my dad, so I'm a bit limited as to what I can download especially if it's reasonable quality. Once I finish downloading all the episodes of Power Rangers in Space I may look into it.

Dynamithix 07-18-2011 12:52 PM

The episode with the clover and Fry's brother was pretty sad in my opinion.

Disgruntled Intern 07-18-2011 12:54 PM

Yeah, that was a good one.

Mr. Bungle 07-18-2011 02:08 PM

The Seymour episode was incredibly sad, but what about The Luck of the Fryish? That one made me quite emotional. Then there are just well-constructed episodes, such as Roswell That Ends Well. Fuck. I gotta start watching Futurama again.

Crashpunk 07-18-2011 05:56 PM

Did I miss you lot talking about Futurama? aka my favorite TV ever?

The Luck of the Fryish, The Sting and The Devil's Hands are Idle Playthings made me all emotional. Space Pilot 3000 still remains my favorite though, I loved how they kept going back to it in Bender's Big Score

Dynamithix 07-20-2011 03:24 AM

Please, for the love of god, let this movie be good. I want to be excited about the remake but this trailer was nothing more than average if even that. I hope they don't ruin a classic.

EDIT: Oh, apparently it's a prequel. Hmm. That could be a good thing or a bad thing.

Also, the real trailer of The Dark Knight Rises.

Strike Witch 07-20-2011 04:22 AM

Yeah, it takes place with the other guys just before the first film, apparently.

If they keep it canonical, that means at least two guys will go towards the Americans yelling "Get the hell away! It's not a dog! It's a thing! It's imitating a dog! It's not real! Get away idiots!" In Norwegian. like they were in the start of the film.

Sekto Springs 07-20-2011 07:53 AM

We seem to be terrified of gore these days, and hugely fond of digital grading. Those two things combined will more than certainly ensure that this film completely lacks the gritty, visceral feel of the first. I hope I'm wrong. Actually I don't care if I'm wrong, I won't be seeing it. Unless the next trailer I see changes my mind.

So we have, The Thing, The Thing and The Thing

All of which take place at different times, that totally isn't confusing...

Wings of Fire 07-20-2011 10:05 AM

Should rename them The Thing, The Other Thing and The Thingy.

Sekto Springs 07-20-2011 10:14 AM

The Thingy would probably be the most terrifying.

Bullet Magnet 07-20-2011 10:28 AM

The name just makes me think of this.

Ben Grimm is cool, except in the movies.

The Thing from Another World, John Carpenter's The Thing, and The Thing. Not that hard.

Sekto Springs 07-20-2011 10:24 PM

Saw a clip from the upcoming Conan film today. Honestly, it looks okay. The color grading is vibrant, but not too over the top. It has a certain authenticity to it's scope that I like, and the action is well-paced.

Also Ron Perlman.

Dixanadu 07-25-2011 05:12 AM

I just watched 'Troll', a fantasy film from the 80s.

Why is the lead character called Harry Potter?

Sekto Springs 07-25-2011 08:49 AM

Troll 1?
You're doing it wrong. Watch Troll 2. It's the best worst movie ever.

Disgruntled Intern 07-25-2011 09:22 AM

Just made Dorian watch Man's Best Friend. They used to show that movie on TNT pretty much three times a month and my Grandpa loved it. We both thought it was hilarious. I spent many weekends at my grandparents house, so we'd often watch it together, but as I got older and had other things going on, he'd still take the time to call me and excitedly tell me, "Paddy, Paddy! That movie with the dog...It's on!" And I'd do my best to get to their house before it was over.

Trailer:

Also watched Basket Case [again] and loved it just as much as the first time. Plus Rubber, which has to be one of the more original/clever movies I've seen in quite some time. It's fucking stupid and silly, but that's the point.

If the opening monologue doesn't win you over, don't bother watching:

Batman updates. Complete with on-set photos.

http://a4.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...1_464640_n.jpg

Bane in full costume. Standing on top of a stolen Tumbler (Batmobile).

http://a5.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot..._5776142_n.jpg

Bane tearing up a picture of Harvey Dent (Two-Face).

Definitely leaves alot of room for theories on the plot. I figured I'd post this here, since it's the closest thing we have to a current movies thread and I don't feel like this is blog-worthy.

Strike Witch 07-31-2011 02:37 AM

I hope that settles that Bane's going to be intelligent.

Manco 07-31-2011 04:15 AM

I don't care how intelligent he is, that costume is really underwhelming.

Still excited for this movie though.

Besides his incarnation in Shumacher's dung pile of a film, what other instances has he been a dumb brute?

Not dumb per se, but he's never been as strong a character as he was in Knightfall.

I want to see that Bane, the one who can break Batman.

Sekto Springs 07-31-2011 08:45 AM

I can't tell if he was dumb in Arkham Asylum, or if the combination of his accent and him having a bitch fit just made him seem dumb.

Bullet Magnet 07-31-2011 09:47 AM

I saw Captain America. It was good, though I felt like something was missing. The Invaders, probably.

Unusually, the sting at the end was a trailer for The Avengers.

That's not really a spoiler.

Dynamithix 07-31-2011 01:06 PM

Rented Rango.

Fucking awesome.

Mac Sirloin 07-31-2011 07:59 PM

I watched Bottle Rockets, Wes Anderson's first film over the weekend. Very funny and energetic. I loved all of the little touches and repeat-details they threw in. Definitely recommend.

Since it was a solid 15$ cheaper, we got the Standard DVD and not the Criterion version. The standard makes it seem like a buddy-cop-comedy. God.

I'll watch The Thing: Beginnings or whatever it's called because The Thing scared me when I was little and seeing The Thing turned into a new The Thing is The Thing I was my Thing to Thing.
Caaaaan't say I'm all about that dudette from Scott Pilgrim taking the lead role. Seems like kind of a leap.

Mr. Bungle 07-31-2011 09:49 PM

I watched The Usual Suspects as well as Ocean's 11. Enjoyed both immensely. The latter had an amazing soundtrack.

Oh, I know, it's just Joe talks my ear off about his hatred for that particular movie Bane so it's good to know I'll be spared another rant or twenty.

I watched Angels and Demons last night.

Film did nothing for me.

Daxter King 08-01-2011 12:48 AM

Cowboys and Aliens.

I thought it was a pretty good action flick. Some of the plot seems iffy if you over analyze it, but otherwise was really fun. The pacing was well done, with most scenes not over staying their welcome. Action was pretty cool too, apparently ILM did the FX, and they did a pretty damn good job. Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford were both great, and Olivia Wilde was their for eye candy. It was one of the best summer blockbusters I've seen in a while, just don't go in expecting anything more than a summer blockbuster.

Mac Sirloin 08-04-2011 02:07 AM

Just like how I went from cumming all over myself at Revenge of The Fallen and then did a heel turn and hated the shit out of it, I'm going to go right ahead and sway my opinion on the new Transformers feature. Because it matters.

They twisted around facts and history a lot. But it's fucking Transformers. I was a jackass to think Micheal Bay was somehow committing treason by using the moon landing and Chernobyl as reference points for his silly robot movie. Hell, I'm impressed that the guy had the stones to do that, and kind of commend him for making The Transformers themselves so damn important within the movies. Going by what was said in the first one, if it weren't for the Transformers, we would still be basically be using bloodletting and horse carriages. From what I've heard about him/seen in interviews he is an INSUFFERABLE DOUCHEBAG, but he got the recipe right this time.

Additionally, it was funtastic. It was such a fun movie. Yeah, it opens with a shot at Rosie Huntington Whitley (whitely? Whitever)'s ass. But you know what I realized? I liked that ass. It was not the worst ass to open a giant robot movie with. And that's really what Transformers as a film series is: It's an ass, but I'll be damned it it isn't one gorgeous, metallic, overbudgeted clanking hell of an ass. And it's not really like they cram that initial ass down your throat. Very little ass cramming.

Patrick Dempsey was great. So was John Turturro and John Malkovich. Megatron apart from dying was just plain rad, all rotten and infested. Some of the deaths could've been more diverse, but then again the action taking place around them made up for it. I didn't even realize they brought back Barricade (Cop car from the first one) back until after I'd seen it. The inclusion of The Wreckers (who are robot space engineers who traded in their wrenches for wrenches with guns on them) was a neat little addition, and they did a good job of establishing themselves as the tertiary 'how shit gets done without you seeing it' force.

So again, an ass, butt a nice one.

*rimshot*
Or should I say *rimjob*?

Strike Witch 08-04-2011 01:24 PM

I like how with the Wreckers they designed them to look like Nascar rednecks, then when the movie came out they turned around and made them sound like British soccer hooligans.

Mr. Bungle 08-04-2011 05:27 PM

I've been watching various episodes of Space Ghost: Coast to Coast, Home Movies and Ren & Stimpy on YouTube. I forgot how good these shows were.

JennyGenesis 08-05-2011 12:46 PM

I love all of them shows!

I remember staying up stupidly late to watch them many moons ago.

I've been watchign that new comedy on Sky 1 called "Trollied" it is fantastic!

Dynamithix 08-05-2011 12:48 PM

Bought the third and fourth Futurama seasons and watched them through in almost one sitting. Awesome.

Kif Gets Knocked Up a Notch is one of my favourite episodes now.

Cripes, I bought the third season yesterday myself. I really like Godfellas and that one with the Intergalactic Harlem Globetrotters. Trying to watch all the episodes with commentary now.

Dynamithix 08-05-2011 02:54 PM

Also Insane in the Mainframe was fucking awesome.
