I'd like to see Munch remade before they pole vault into Squeak. I don't mean in the same vein as an HD remake, but a complete scrapping and starting from the ground up. There can be numerous other titles in between now and then, but Munch is the game I feel desperately needs a complete redo.
I know this would be a very large project to undertake, but so would pretty much any high quality game OWI and JAW have and will pump out. Once they have the budget, I see no reason why they shouldn't try and redo MO, other than just not wanting to. |
They could bring Roid back!

I’d love for them to go back and do Munch as intended, but doing it as Munch’s Exoddus instead of an MO remake. Pick up the story where MO ended, and then work back in all those plans that were left on the cutting room floor – Lady Margaret, Molluck’s trial, Ma’Spa, etc.
It gives them a clean break and a brand new Oddworld game, plus it doesn’t mess with the established canon and the team would have a reference point (the original game) as a baseline to improve from. |
I think it'd be more worth it for them to spend their money and effort on a new OW title rather than rehashing MO, but doing Munch's Exoddus like Manco said would be a good compromise - Provided they included a complete (but optional to watch) backstory, so that people wouldn't miss out on skipping MO if they didn't want to play it.

On one hand I would love to see Munch redone, made the way it was meant with all the awesome stuff from the trailers and more. But remaking AE and then MO would mean we'd be waiting another 5 years before we see anything new in terms of story, which would be a damn shame.
In total I think they can get away with New Abe's Oddysee > New Abe's Exoddus > Munch HD > New Oddworld game in terms of consistancy. But failing that, they could opt to do the MO remake combined with Munch Exoddus and make it one big game. Provided AO and AE generate enough revenue. |
I wonder if they would consider starting a kick starter possibly for MO? (If they didn't generate enough revenue that is.) It would be an interesting route to take and I wouldn't mind throwing some cash there way for a new MO remake. I would like to support the progress of a new MO somehow other than buying multiple copies of NnT or the new AE on release. I would really like to see it come to light of day.

I'm not sure why Kickstarter is percieved as something to aspire to right now. It's a compromise made out of necessity, not a fucking asset.

How is there any need to remake Munch's Oddysee?
|
to make it a good game
|
Why, when they could just make other games with better ideas and concepts that have a better chance?
|
*hunkers down for this argument again*
|
MO had really awesome, albeit ambitious, ideas behind it though?
|
I won't deny that the game could have been told differently and it had the potential to be so much more. But would you honestly be happy with yet another remake when we could be seeing something completely new?
|
Maybe it should be done simply to stop arguments like this from happening again amongst the fandom. :P
It does deserve a remake, IMO. But as I kind of said earlier, I also think it'd be a waste of resources at this point. |
Oh, I'd rather see something totally new I just don't know where Nep is coming from.
I should really start ignoring him, but I'm clearly just a glutton for punishment. |
I think it would be better to make Munch's Exoddus and make that the game Munch's Oddysee should of been.
