Acually alot of people do know about Abe ("the purple guy that can fart at will") .
SO if the first Oddworld movie is going to be about Abe, there may be a market for these movie other then the people who plays the game.
Look at all the comic to movie at the moment, alot of these people who go and see Spiderman or X-men may never touched the comic who seen any of the tv series.( I know, I know that these 2 titles are more well known then Oddworld...)
Then wouldn't both Lorne and Sherry have some connection in the movie industry that could help them out??

First off all I think that they shouldn't go for a well known name on the package. Let it just be Oddworld Inhabitants. You can sell pretty much everything IF you have a good marketing strategy. So what they need to do, and ESPECIALLY WE, is to make the name famous. OWI should do some massive advertisement, get it on tv etc. THEN it is up to US (the ones who have seen the movie, and convinced that it is a very good movie) to tell everyone we know, that the oddworld movie is one of the best CG movies they have seen in the last couple of years, plus that it is a very cool movie too. Also invite some friend to go to the bios with you to see that movie. Then, after a few week we many people know about the movie, and maybe deside to watch it. Then again, if it goes well, it take the attention of the media, they will review it, and if it is a good movie it will be know to pretty much everyone in the country's.
And a good name doesn't say anything. Take the Final Fantasy movie. It didn't go well, because the movie wasn't that good. But there are many, many people who know FF the games, but they heard that it wasn't that good, so they decided to leave it alone.

If OWI can make a movie with the quality of the games (apart from munch, but that was the fault of microsoft), and I know they will, then take my word, it is gonna be famous soon enough. And without the help of a well known name on the box.

If it were dreamworks who helped out the movie would have one hell of a animation polygon storm, good for ratings!.

The day that OWI resorts to branding or pulling in “big” names for popularity will be a sorry stain in their history.

I agree. I really would rather OWI do this movie on their own, but they might have to hire help in order to attract more viewers. I have several friends that are gamers themselves and out of all of them, only 2 or 3 of them had ever heard of Oddworld. (Yes, I know that this is sad as they should have at least heard of the series, but they seriously hadn't ever heard of it.) So my point is just like Fuzzle Guy's. Although it wouldn't be great for us fans if OWI actually had help with this movie, it may be the only way they can get a decent amount of money out of it.

They are definately going to have to be involved with another company, if only as a distributor. Probably to finance the film as well. Just like Pixar and Disney, although hopefully they actually won't go with the spawn of Satan that is Uncle Walt's empire.

Remember, everyone now goes to see a Pixar film but back in the Toy Story days we'd never heard of them; it was just a Disney film to us.

But, if you look at the poly count in the Oddworld ingame movies, there are actually moive quality. It is already a 'animation polygon storm'.

These kids and their 'poly count' theories... Study computer imaging, get a degree then re-submit your statement. Argh.

As for the 'buddy' company helping make an Oddworld movie, that would be horrible, except for distributional purposes. Eew, Pixar making Oddworld. DreamWorks making Oddworld. Disney making Oddworld. It makes me wish to expell my bowel contents, from any oraphis. Think of those frickin' Mickey cameos- Here comes Pluto! A hyuk a hyuk! "Heya there Munch! My name is Disney Whore!".
