Solid film.

T-nex 04-27-2010 04:12 PM

Damn that Cameron.... He must be rich now. Filthy rich.

Grieva 04-27-2010 04:36 PM

You know, they're re-releasing Avatar this summer with a whopping 6 minutes of extra footage.

Good. I missed it in 3D.

Only now? The man's made so much money he can have his servants wipe their asses with hundred dollar bills.

Sekto Springs 04-27-2010 08:54 PM

James Cameron is still trying to spend the money he made on Titanic.
He should donate the money to the many organizations dedicated to saving the rain forest. You know, actually give to the cause he shoved down our throats with Avatar.

Emesdee 04-27-2010 11:52 PM

Just finished Virus from 1980.There are way too many movies with that title. Not too bad as far as end of the world movies go (and at least it doesn't have zombies, thankfully). Even though I saw it before, this being a slightly different cut made it worthwhile, even if this one didn't have as happy an ending as the first version I saw. Shame movies like this don't get made anymore, unless they happen to have zombies or crazies or living infected people.

Disgruntled Intern 04-28-2010 10:00 AM

The Amazing Screw on Head. It was funny. Animation was kinda meh, though.

Josh 04-28-2010 10:18 PM

Just watched Orphan. One of the best plot twists ever.

The first scene is how I imagine a period.

Sekto Springs 04-29-2010 10:26 AM

I thought Orphan was stupid, and the plot twist was predictable. It has been done several times before with slight variation. You wanna see a decent movie about scary, murderous children? Watch The Good Son.

Oh look I'm an evil fucked up dwarf is a hilarious plot twist. I was bwahahaing when Nikki told me about it.

Sekto Springs 04-29-2010 10:38 AM

Oh, it's definitely hilarious, but certainly not scary or unique.

Like, immediately after you watched it. You told me everything about it. I thought you were referring to The Orphanage at first and just being uncultured.

Anyway I went to see Kick Ass for the hell of it, and it was rather awesome.

When a twist is as stupid as that it's good that they've made it predictable.
Just watched it anyway, I was enjoying it until it got stupid.

Josh 05-01-2010 10:13 AM

Ugh, my parents are whining about Amy snogging the Doctor.

MeechMunchie 05-01-2010 12:51 PM

Went to see Iron Man 2. Standard superhero fare, but RD Jr. did the 'cheeky chappie' thing very well.

Trailers before it were interesting. They've changed the arrow tattoo style on Aang in the other Avatar, it's thoroughly Americanised, CGI is finally doing waterbending justice, and that Skins/Slumdog Millionaire bloke is in it. A booming voice saying 'The Last Airbender got a laugh. The Prince Of Persia movie looks shit. A-Team looks good.

Nate 05-01-2010 06:57 PM

Iron Man 2. Was a good movie; not great like the first one was, but good. The scenes with RDJ not in the Iron Man suit were brilliant; the actions bits were kinda meh. Sam Rockwell was just shite; it felt like he was in a poorly written sitcom. Mickey Rourke, on the other hand, was fantastic... too bad he didn't really have anything interesting to do.

Also, I got to gloat to my American friends that I saw the movie two weeks before they did. Suck it, bitches.

OANST 05-03-2010 06:43 AM

Are you actually saying that Sam Rockwell was the low point of the film? That guy is just fucking gold for me. I can't imagine it.

OddjobAbe 05-03-2010 06:56 AM

I watched "Dog Soldiers" for the second time last night. Very funny film. Channel 5 described it as their "late night horror", but they're idiots anyway. It's definitely a black comedy, not a horror. All the way through I was laughing at little bits.

Haven't you seen Choke? He made that movie nearly unwatchable. The book was fucking hilarious, and Rockwell just played it as wrong as he possibly could.

I usually like him though.

OANST 05-03-2010 10:03 AM

I hadn't read the book, so I was unaware of how that was supposed to play out. I really liked Choke. Except for the love interest. She was the worst actress that I have ever seen.

Disgruntled Intern 05-03-2010 10:19 AM

I'd be willing to mail you the book. Palahniuk's shit is too pricey, even the paperbacks.

The books is great. Rockwell just really really really fucked it up. Also, the guy who played his friend Denny didn't do so hot, either. They just did a shitty job of casting the movie.

i watched that the first time with a mate, and it was quite enjoyable up to the point where the actual werewolves come in. then it just gets comical. i always remember one moment where a man hammers a werewolf's hand as it comes through the letterbox, for some reason that cracked me up. also, the part where the sergeant has his stomach cut open, they may as well have pulled out a Pritt Stick instead of superglue, daft bastards.

actually, i might watch that again just for old times sake.

Slag? 05-03-2010 12:09 PM

It tickled me when Sean Pertwee was sat there with his intestines (or some other organs - I couldn't quite tell precisely) hanging out and that other fellow was trying to fit them back in. "They won't fucking fit!"
"They will fit."
Very funny stuff. And the part where the dog was tugging at his insides when he was slumped on the floor. That had me in stitches.

HERE's HOW WE SAT

Photobucket

MeechMunchie 05-04-2010 01:12 AM

The Muppets Take Manhattan. Waldorf and Statler highlight:

Statler: Hey, looks like they finally made it to Broadway!
Waldorf: I already got tickets!
Statler: Are they good seats?
Waldorf: Yeah! They're on the next train out of town!
S+W: DOOOH-HO-HO-HO!

I wouldn't necessarily say that he's the absolute lowest point in the movie, but he's certainly a low point, and a massive one that stretches on for far too many scenes where they could instead have had RDJ being awesome.

That was my friend Jordan.

The movie was bad.

Also apparently Sam Rockwell is in Terminator: Salvation...but I didn't see him.

Mac Sirloin 05-04-2010 05:58 PM

Just saw A Nightmare on Elm Street.

It was fucking terrible.

MA 05-05-2010 07:22 AM

i've only seen A Nightmare on Elm Street 3. i didn't mind it, and that was only because i enjoyed wondering what the fuck he was gonna do/be next. i thought it was surreal, but not scary.

but like i say, i haven't seen the first one.

Strike Witch 05-08-2010 05:13 AM

They just played Shark Boy and Lava Girl on TV.

I gotta say, it was like watching an Asperger fantasy.

Hazel-Rah 05-08-2010 09:25 AM

I heard Iron Man 2 was really anit-climatic, can't be as anti-climatic as Transformers 2 though lol

Mac Sirloin 05-08-2010 09:38 AM

I don't know, I thought ROTF had a pretty good climax. I mean, everything else about it was a garbageshit, but I've opened it up in WinAMP just to play the last 10 minutes or so a few times.

Hazel-Rah 05-08-2010 10:11 AM

Devastator (who was useless and fugly) was defeated by some random super weapon, the Fallen threw some mortar around and then got pwned by Prime/Jetfire in like five seconds even though he's supposed to be this ultimate badass, and the Decepticons in general just seemed to be completely out-classed by not only the Autobots but the fucking military??

The climax of the first movie was epic, Starscream kicked SO much ass. I hate it when defeating the antagonist in a movie feels like "just a matter of getting around to it".

Wings of Fire 05-08-2010 10:20 AM

WHAT THE FUCK SPOILER WARNING
