I didn't think Avatar's plot was shit, it's just a very uh, recurring story.
One that needs to be bashed into peoples' heads. |
If I want to watch Avatar, i'll watch Pocahontas and imagine that she's blue.
|
It's a story that never gets old. The script was nothing to write home about though. Honestly, I was more dazzled by the creativity put into Pandora itself rather than the special effects.
|
The 6-legged animals were particularly interesting. My favorite creature had to be the lizards whose method of flight involved spinning.
|
Yay! The frisbee lizards!

I loved Avatar, and the story is indeed something that people need to see a lot. If only to just get a bit of morals from it.
But the visuals were orgasmiiiic x_x And so was the creativity. Everything worked so well with that movie, even if the story wasn't super-original. In fact, I actually watched a movie called "Terra" that was extremely similar. It was about aliens living in peace, and then humans came cos they destroyed their own home and yada yada. Anyway Alice is probably a movie I'd watch again(maybe) during autumn. It seems like a good movie for autumn. I don't get why people always go "That movie was baaad!" when a movie has a story that's been done before... I mean, does anyone realize how hard it is to be original these days? ... The more original stories are created, the less "spaces" for original stories are left. Also, in reality there really aren't many plots one can write about. I think Alice was good if you just want an easy movie that doesn't make you think much(unlike Avatar). And I think it's both good for adults as well as kids. I think it's a bad think to limit oneself only to films/stories that are super-complicated and full of symbolism. Sometimes it's good to turn your brain off and enjoy a movie for what it is. A pleasing story with nice visuals. Anyway by comparison, Avatar would win a million times of course.. Imo. |
Avatar was some good shit.

Filmmaking is complex process. To make a film even remotely watchable these days is a fucking feat because people are so unappreciative of the simple things. If every film was mindblowingly awesome, none of them would be. Now, does this line of reasoning excuse people like Friedberg and Seltzer? No. |
Saw Sunshine again. The burnt man was a bit stupid and the plot had some major holes, but it was quite moving sometimes. The final scenes where the main bloke jumps between the payload sections while remembering his dream to mournful music was very well done. Just a shame they screw it up at the end where he POKES THE SUN.
|
:
I saw it too... Movie was ok, but weird at some point X_x ... And yea it did have some major plot holes. Anyway movies like that really make me paranoid :( |

Don't worry, the sun's only middle-aged. We've still got roughly another five billion years before it begins to fizzle. :) |
|
I finally got around to watching Up. It was alright, but I absolutely hate the "main character makes a poor choice, temporarily loses companions, but then he realizes his mistake, makes it all better in the end and gets them back" template.
|
:
No <.< ... Just catastrophy movies make me very paranoid. Luckily when I went to see 2012, it was so over the top that it didn't leave me with many bad thoughts. |
2012 was nothing short of retarded. So little of it made sense that after a while i just tuned out and watched the random explosions and flying trains
|
I watched A Serious Man last night. It was fucking fantastic. Instantly one of my favorite Coen brothers films.
It's more or less a modern retelling of the story of Job. Except that it's hilarious. |
EDIT: Fucking OANST.
A Serious Man. It was wonderful. The ending left my mouth hanging open. It was that good. Also, Dorian saw The Lovely Bones and said it was nice. |
Embrace the mystery.
|
This just in.
The Girl Who Leapt Through Time also leaps into my heart and my top ten films. |
Saw Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland the other night. T'was quite average.
Alcar... |
Saw Precious and Up back-to-back today. I was expecting something more like Freedom Writers based on what I had heard and seen about Pecious. Loved it, though it kind of depresses me that this is how US citizens on welfare are depicted internatioally. Up was adorable and funny.

|
Just seen the video to 'Telephone'.
All that hype over something that wasn't even that good and FULL of frickin product placement. I'm not sure why, but I want to buy some Heartbeats and some mayonase... |
Finally got to see Star Trek. Pure awesomeness, BUT WHY THE HELL DID VULCAN HAVE TO GO?
|
:
|
I couldn't help but laugh when I realized what a piece of shit the movie was.
|
Says the one who has a chubby for Dark Shadows.
|
I just saw "Alice in Wonderland"...the old 1972 version (hahahaha). You can't beat the classics with the newbies.
|
Men In Black again.
It's got to be the best all-round film ever. Good soundtrack, right mix of action blockbuster and alienating weirdness. |
She's Out Of My League
I did not expect it to be as funny as it was, easily better than a lot of comedies to come out recently. |
I'm sure MA was overjoyed that Jumanji was on tonight.
|
and i missed it?
what the fuck? |
The BBC ran an hour late last night, and so skipped QI, the bastards. The program on before it was scheduled about America was interesting, though.
|
America? interesting?
what the fuck? sorry, being a cunt. apologies. |

It has a negative message, too. Made my day, it did. |
Bronson.
God Damn did we love it. I just want to spend time with the guy. |
Just watched through the entire series' of FLCL and Golden Boy, as well as Tokyo Godfathers.
All excellent. |
"The good, the bad and the Ugly"
Excellant film. Mainly because of it's brilliant music. EDIT: |
I love that film. It's fantastic.
