It's not going to mean anything to anyone who hasn't played the game before. It'll just be a random collection of phonemes that they forget straight away.
It's more important that there are promotional videos up that get people interested than that there's a tiny risk of spoiling a twist. |
GAME IS OUT. I AM HAPPY
HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY |
That's nothing. I remember when Lorne Lanning spoiled the same twist in the game in a making-of tv documentary expertly timed to air like 2 years before the game came out. he even showed pictures and stuff!

I just got SW HD today! I've only played to the fight against Boils Booty. The graphics are amazing! Aswell as the framerate! The only issue I've noticed is the sound cutting out, and not playing the full track. Not a big a issue, but it does kinda hurt the imersemnet. Nothing to bad. Anyways, I'm happy and excellent work JAW!

The Grubb populace were aware that Stranger's a steef, or at least had speculations. After all, they saved his clothing and weaponry from D. Caste Raider's lynching. He wasn't THEIR old steef and sure there's doubts regarding whether he's a REAL steef (''he's a bit scrawny for a steef don't'cha think?''), but they clearly have that speculative notion that he may be one, and one capable of saving their society. That's my reading of the narrative, so I don't see it as a bug. I thought it was a nice nod to the future events. There are other instances of this happening, like the gameplay-changing teaser you see early on in the general store with the fortune telling device. |
I was just meaning that the Grubs kinda ruin the story for you. You would eventually hear about steefs in the Buzzarton cutscene, and you already heard that you are a steef, so you can somewhat predict the future events of the game from there; thus, the climax to the game is ruined because you listened to these Grubs, and you don't experience the story as you should have. See what I mean?

My PSN account is being a butt. It says all my credit cards are invalid, but they're totally valid. Bah.
|
I will definately buy this in the next coming days, when I'll have some time to actually play it. Any idea when the patch is coming out?
|
But... if someone has never played the game before, how will they know what a Steef is? They might just assume a Steef is a cat-person like Stranger.
|
As great a twist as it is, I do find it difficult to believe that there's anyone out there who couldn't figure out that Stranger is a Steef by at least the Cut Scene video, given that his facial features are exactly the same.
|
I think that I managed to get Looten Duke to fall into one of the meat grinders. Anyone else had a similar situation?

The game works great, but I've found the dialogue and sound problems to be much more wide spread than what other people have said. Starting from the very beginning there have been sound effects that have cut in and out, sounds that just repeat constantly, and it's damn near impossible to listen to an entire sentence from anyone including the people in the first town. The game looks and plays great, but about half the fun of playing this game for me was talking to people, and that's ruined.
|
I'm noticing the same problems as OANST. When Stranger is in the middle of his four-legged run, for example, and you suddenly turn sharply, there used to be the sound of his claws digging into the sand. That's gone.
And for some reason, conversations can now be interrupted by other sounds that play during the dialogue. Certainly not game-breaking or frustrating, but definitely something I'd like to see fixed in future updates. The game itself is GORGEOUS, otherwise. It's fun to go and kick the shit out of those goddamn Clakkers again. :
That's probably meant to be the joke; that the Industrialists are too stupid to put two and two together, while the Natives are well aware of his secret just by looking at him. Still, it kills the so-called "twist" mid-game for us. |
|
I wholeheartedly agree that Stranger should have had a scarf or bandanna around his face. It was simply too obvious. When I introduced the game to my friends, they all immediately asked after the first Sekto cutscene "Hey, isn't Stranger a Steef? He looks just like one".
|
Just found another one. Enemies hit by Stunkz gas don't get incapacitated and barf, they just faint. This didn't happen on my last save; they puked.
Also, you know what I would have liked? More jails, to see your prizes. I wanted to hear the conversations between later outlaw bosses, like Elboze and Packrat. |

"When we get the loot from the temple, I'm going to buy a new hat!"
-Outlaw Joe, about to spend money in TF2's MannCo Store. |
One last complaint. The voice of the Grubb Princess makes me want to die. It's awful.
|
:
I never really liked the original Grubb Princess' ''castration'' voice, whether or not this is an improvement, I don't know. I dialogue for the princess also seems to be different, has the dialogue for her been entirely redubbed, Glitch? |
:
Another quick question, stealing farmer beeks moohla from the chests does that have any bad effect if you steal it, e.g. bad karma resulting in a bad ending? |
I've since learned that Bolamites work on Looten as well - you just have to be quick to capture him.
No negative impact from taking the moolah. |
There's no karma in SW, so feel free to beat the shit out of the local yokels. I make a game out of trying to punch out as many Clakkerz as possible before they run indoors.
|
:
I personally really like the new voice for the grubb princess over the old one. I think it fits nicely with the whole cartoony over the top voices in the oddworld games. That's just my opinion though, I had no say in who we chose because that stuff was done before I started. |
:
|
Don't spoil it for me, I'm not even halfway there yet.
|
Was the female voice actress for the clakkerz featured anywhere besides the Opple Farm? Because I haven't heard her anywhere else yet, and I've been listening.
|
I am going to fucking murder who ever changed the voice of the Grubb Queen... I feel like my IQ literally dropped listening to that squeaky shit!
|
I had a question. In Buzzarton, didn't you used to be able to choose between a few different bounties as opposed to having to do them in a certain order? I could be wrong, but I swear you had your pick of Jo' Mamma, Meagly McGraw, and Packrat Palooka as opposed to only one bounty being available at a time.
Also, entirely a matter of taste, but I preferred the original bounty screens to the new ones. :p |
You could choose between Eugene Ius and Jo' Mamma. Packrat was last because he had Eugene's laptop which was needed to get to New Yolk City. I think.
Although Max and Glitch had said that the Grubb leader's voice had been processed I wasn't sure whether I would like it because the way the lines were delivered sounded a little out of place. I'll just have to wait until I actually hear it. |

New Grubb queen voice is not good. Go back to the original.
|
For those of us without PS3s, does anyone have a decent recording of the new voice(s)?
|
No. And I hope to never hear one.
|
When will there be a PC release?
