Actually its different, due to the walking script currently in place, every (basic) animation is always playing, that means, idle, walk and run. all other animation are stacked on top of that and have a higher priority to play.
What that mean is that when you press go left or right, it places the turning animation on top of the idle animation (the head going left is from the idle animation). It does this because in the turning animations only the legs get commands to move, the head has nothing to do so it says, ok I have no animation now lets use idle. should be fixed when I'm a little less tired from scripting all night haha! |
This looks awesome. Please hurry and finish it!
|
This looks incredibly awesome. Wish I could play the Windows version, but my computer dislikes any file/folder with the same name.
|
Could you explain why you can't play it? It should be working on any Mac OSX and/ or Windows system
|
On my computer your (Windows) ScrabDemoWIN_v1.zip works... weird - in it there are some files with the same name etc. (but it worked) - Could you pack it with other program?
I used Winrar :) |
OMG thx 4 the demo!!!! OMG this is really good
Update: I cant open it with winzip heeeeelp |
Looking into it now, Does it give you an error of some kind?
Edit: It works fine on my WindowsXP, Don't know why it doesn't on yours, anyway packed it up in a .rar, maybe you have better luck with this one. Windows Build (.rar)(8.7mb) http://www.modern-way.net/AORemake/Win_ScrabDemo_v1.rar Going to bed now, hope it works, if not I will check this thread first thing in the morning so will be taken care of then. Good night :) |

I love the animations and just jumping to the beat of the music was kind of fun. My family noticed me playing it and thought it was pretty cool. But they also remarked that the Scrab didn't look dark enough. Not trying to sound lame, just putting it out there. Oh and by the way I've recently downloaded Autodesk 3ds Max. Would you by chance have any good links to tutorials or tips for learning how to use the software? |
Ok great, Yeah the lightning is nothing like in the real game, we just used two directional lights in the engine to get some lightness. A lot more detail will be put in the lightning of the real game so I can assure you that the light issue will be totally fixed ;)
For tutorials I would recommend Tutorialized (http://www.tutorialized.com/tutorials/3DS-MAX/1) It has over 1000 tutorials, enjoy & good luck! |
Nice. But I'm finding the controls a bit dodgy.
|
Still can't play i clicked the application ad it says There should be 'Data' folder next to the executable
|
This is looking amazing so far, love the Scrab.
Let me know if you need any new dialogue :D |
:

The Scrab demo doesn't work , i use winxp sp3.
it gives me this error: mono: initialization failed |

Could you tell me your hardware you use? (if you know it) :
|
That Scrab looks much better. :D The animations are looking good too.
|
well im using WINZip and it fials, maybe ill wait for you to make a self installing demo =)
|
I used winzip and it works.
On the actual model, everything is pretty good, aside from one complaint about the texture. Could you make the scrab a little reder on the reddish side, and slighty greener on the underside? That is all I have to say in the no so good area. |

Processor: Intel Pentium 4 2.8ghz dual core (the normal one , not core 2 duo) Video card: Geforce 7200 HDD: 640 GB Memory: 1 GB DDR1 that's all i know. |

Haha that demo is great, seeing as though people have problems, perhaps it would be useful to you that you get the hardware specs of test computers.
- Pentium 4 @ 2.8GHZ (Not Hyper-threading) - DDR1 1GB RAM @ 155Mhz - Nvidia Geforce 7600GS AGP @ 500Mhz GPU and 600MHZ DDR3 512Mb Graphics RAM (Overclocked) - Screen Resolution 1680 x 1050 on Full graphics. - 320Gb IDE Hard Drive @ 7500RPM Everything worked fast and smooth for me. Although I should note that when I fell from the platform, I landed in mid air, on the clouds, I walked for a bit then landed on the ground. Still though this is great. |
My specs are much lower but still good to play on full det and high resolution (1280x1024pix [my screen's maximum]):
Intel Celeron 2.0Ghz SDR 512 MB RAM Nvidia GeforceFX 5500 AGP - 256RAM (DDR?) 80GB HDD Without any overclocking :) I haven't thought it'll work that fine on my PC.... but it's only 1 model 1 scene demo... |
Great thanks for the stats:) Will help me figure out how to integrate the full levels. Also, in the animation demo no Level of Detail's were present so that should crank up the performance of full-scale levels.
As for the walking on the clouds, I know, I hadn't integrated the health system yet so I could not tell him to die as he had no health :p In the real game you will die when you fall ;) Dont worry haha! I am going to get my oldest pc working again today, see if it runs on there, because that is really a very low-performance pc haha! |
I have a semi-crap pc;
Windows XP 2.8 Ghz 2038MB RAM 128MB Graphics Card (came with the pc) Works fine on both Fastest and Fantastic (640x480). The Scrab seems to look to the left a lot for some reason, apart from that it looks nice. It would be nice to check it out via some other camera angles if that's possible. Also you can fall off the map into infinity :D Looks really amazing so far. Can't wait to play as a Slig. |
Thank you for the tech specs AlexFili :)
As for the second subject, please read this post for an explanation :) http://www.oddworldforums.net/showpo...2&postcount=61 |
Oops. I forgot to read that bit. It's amazing for a fangame!
I'm glad this runs on my PC :D |
Yeh, the deom doesn't work as I said be4 but will the complete game because i'm guessing itll have an auto installer
|
:
Also I made an app that allowed me to update my game on user computers, almost automatically, only updating changed files instead of reinstalling the full game. I have no need for it at the moment, so you can use it if you like. PM me if or when you require such a program. -- Also, with the user computer specs you can pin point problems some user have more easily. I forgot to mention I'm running a stripped out version of Windows XP SP2 Media Center Edition 2005 with Rollup 2. Perhaps STM you are having problems due to Windows Vista or 7? |
I was running Vista. No problem here. But you can never really be certain with this sort of thing.
Looking great so far Tim and Greiver. Keep it up. |
