Wings of Fire 03-09-2012 07:54 AM

It's an acid western apparently, which... sounds like a genre that's totally me.

I'll have to give this one a go too.

OANST 03-09-2012 07:56 AM

Yeah. It's actually a lot of fun to watch, too. A lot of pretentious, arthouse films that try to really say something that you can't quite put your finger on can be not a lot of fun to watch. El Topo is a fucking riot.

- Irreversible (Don't know if I can watch it from what I've heard of the rape scene)

haha, bet you've not seen the Evil Dead then huh?

Dynamithix 03-09-2012 09:27 AM

Huh? Evil Dead was good, I've seen it. What was so horrible about that? You do know that Irreversible has a rape scene that lasts for around 8 minutes and some people couldn't even watch the movie because of that?

MA 03-09-2012 09:54 AM

i've seen Irreversible. in my opinion, it was fucking disgusting and i didn't enjoy watching it, i felt grimy afterwards. the story is absolutely shit and i think the only reason it's known today is due to the brutality of the murder scene and length of the rape scene. there's no need to drag something out that long, no matter how poignant or disturbing it's meant to be, and the film itself is nothing special.

of course, me saying that will only encourage your curiosity, so have at it if you really want.

Sekto Springs 03-09-2012 10:11 AM

Evil Dead and it's sequels are amazing. Anyone who doesn't think so should be raped for 8 minutes and then brutally murdered.

MA 03-09-2012 10:12 AM

Evil Dead is amazing. i fucking love them.

Boy do I have the movie for you!

:

Miloš sees a young girl, Jeca, whose abusive mother has disgraced herself by becoming a whore... led into a dark room where he is fellated by a nurse, and sees screens showing Jeca seductively eating an ice lolly... instructed to receive oral sex with the abused mother while Jeca watches... Vukmir tries to explain his artistic style to Miloš by showing him a film of Raša helping a woman give birth to a baby girl, but then proceeding to rape the newborn in what the director calls "a new genre - 'newborn porn'"... Miloš brutally beats and rapes Jeca's mother handcuffed to a bed before decapitating her with a machete in order to induce rigor mortis... a catatonic Miloš is sodomized by Vukmir's security... views Lejla questioning Vukmir and wanting to help Miloš, only to later be seen chained in the middle of a room with all of her teeth having been removed... masked man enters the room, forces his erect penis down her throat and pinches her nose until she suffocates... Miloš is led to Jeca's home where an elderly woman whom we presume is Jeca's paternal Grandmother praises him for killing the prostitute mother, and asks him to cement his masculine status by having sex with Jeca herself, calling it a "virgin communion", adding that she in turn had lost her own virginity to her own father... finds out that he eventually ended up in an alleyway and watched a provocatively-dressed underaged girl walk by. Unable to stop himself masturbating at the sight of her, he was beaten by thugs who also accosted this passing girl... made to have anal sex with two bodies hidden under covers on a bed... masked man begins to have sex with the larger body beside the second one Miloš is raping... removes the covers to reveal that Miloš's smaller body to be his own son Petar who is also drugged and by now bleeding profusely from his rectum... female doctor then enters having apparently, under the influence of the drug Miloš had injected into her throat, forced a drainpipe into her vagina as a dildo, before collapsing with blood pouring from her genitals... Miloš finishes by shoving his penis into his empty eye socket... director instructs the actors to begin the rape of the bodies, saying, "Start with the little one".
Ah. I see.

MA 03-09-2012 04:48 PM

well that sounds like a pile of unwanted wank.

Dynamithix 03-09-2012 06:05 PM

A Serbian Film is pretty damn sick I've heard, but it just sounds so sick that I can't imagine there being any other reason to watch it than just to see how gruesome it is.

Sekto Springs 03-09-2012 06:11 PM

My friend actually just saw that like two nights ago. He said it was underwhelming compared to all the over-hyped wankery it got for being "gritty". He did have a few good things to say about it, but they were mostly technical, like about the lighting and shit.

I have no interest in seeing it.

MeechMunchie 03-10-2012 04:52 AM

EDIT: New page.

Dynamithix 03-10-2012 04:04 PM

Continuing on the quest to watch classic/great movies, I just watched Fight Club for the first time.

I thought it was great. I liked how it was almost a comedy but still remained really serious throughout the movie. Though I disliked the Marla Singer character (and the actress, can't even remember her name).

Helena Bonham Carter. I liked her in Fight Club.

Sekto Springs 03-10-2012 09:59 PM

Yeah, that was one role that actually stood out among all her others. Now she's just Tim Burton's generic British sidekick.

Wasn't she in Sweeney Todd too? Was that a Burton film? Can't even remember.

That was a Burton film and she was in it, and like normal she was in a relationship with a Johnny Depp character.

Creepy

Strike Witch 03-13-2012 08:08 AM

I just watched Game Change, a dramatization-type thing of the McCain-Palin campaign.

I loved how you empathized with the campaign managers as they realize how much of a huge mistake they made selecting Sarah as things just slowly come apart.

She's almost sinister.

Mac Sirloin 03-13-2012 08:56 AM

I saw a similar film called The Undefeated or something, which was about how Palin was totally great and the greatest mayor of Alaska of all time. One scene that stood out was when uplifting music was playing through see-through portraits of her floating across the screen and this image they used about 20 times of drops of black ink dripping into water, signifying big oil or teen pregnancy. Finally, with Palin's ginormous smirking face drifting away, a bizarre image of African rebels shaking their fists and yelling played through.

Wings of Fire 03-13-2012 09:34 AM

I sort of want to watch Mac's more.

MeechMunchie 03-13-2012 04:01 PM

It reminds me of the kind of thing they did to Alex DeLarge. Someone get the eyeclamps.

Mr. Bungle 03-13-2012 05:10 PM

I've been watching Breaking Bad non-stop lately. Watched through all the seasons for the second time, completely out of order. Watching again from beginning to end, currently at the beginning of season 2. Tuco Salamanca is batshit insane, all I gotta say.

God, I love this show. Any other fans on OWF?

Dynamithix 03-13-2012 10:43 PM

They only showed the first season of it here, but I watched most of it back then. I'll probably get a boxset of all the four(?) seasons when such thing is released here.

Mr. Bungle 03-13-2012 10:54 PM

If you can wait that long, sure. Fourth season will probably be released on DVD in a few months to get ready for season 5. If you're not against pirating or streaming, you can try that, 'cause you're really missing out on a great show.

MA 03-14-2012 12:25 PM

pirate that shit.

arrrrrrrr

Dynamithix 03-14-2012 12:35 PM

But I don't want to. I only pirate movies, not TV series. And usually if I pirate a movie and it's really good and I liked it, I'll buy it later. I've done that like ten times already 'cause I want to support the movie.

MA 03-14-2012 12:45 PM

NO I SAID ARRRRRRRR AND THAT'S THE END OF IT

MeechMunchie 03-14-2012 01:34 PM

Why are pirates pirates?

Because they ARRRRRRRE

MA 03-14-2012 06:43 PM

high five.

sheridanm962 03-14-2012 10:42 PM

My Windows 7? Pirated!
My installation of Sony Vegas 9.0? Pirate

so is Faps (Fraps), some movies that you have seen in cinemas... I can't tell what else :p

But all my games are legitimate (well most non-steam one's aren't) but you get my point. :)

Nate 03-14-2012 11:09 PM

Unless you're talking about a movie/tv show/hardcore pornography about pirates, all of y'all are spamming. Stop it.

Dynamithix 03-16-2012 01:47 PM

Watched the new episode of South Park. It was alright. I didn't even realize it was out till today...

Bullet Magnet 03-16-2012 02:44 PM

John Carter. I think the reviews were quite unfair.

Afterward I realised there were many unanswered questions, but I didn't notice them while I was watching. And I was sufficiently distracted from all the glaring problems with physics and biology that I didn't think about them at all, which is high praise from me.

Strike Witch 03-16-2012 02:56 PM

Gremlins 2.

Gremlins are just the world's biggest bunch of jerks ever. Also, so much fourth-wall breaking.

I have no idea what they were going for.

Sekto Springs 03-16-2012 05:43 PM

John Carter. I think the reviews were quite unfair.
The reviews felt to me like the reviewers didn't do their research. One of the major complaints was "It's been done so many times before". John Carter was one of the first Sci Fi stories that everyone else copied from. Why it was one of the last stories to get the cinema treatment is beyond me, but that certainly explains why everything about the movie probably felt strangely familiar.

I haven't seen it, and probably won't, but that's my two cents on the critical response.

I recently watched the Season 2 finale of Face Off, that show I mentioned earlier. The final challenge was kind of dumb, and I could tell from the start who was going to win. A pretty disappointing season, to say the least. The first was so much better. Apparently a third season is airing this summer. I look forward to see what they come up with next. I hope they put the emphasis more on prosthetics than body painting, like in S1.

Dynamithix 03-18-2012 02:36 PM

Spiderman 3 was on TV tonight and I watched most of it. I still think it's a decent movie, way too many people complain about it. It is the worst out of the three though.

MeechMunchie 03-18-2012 02:41 PM

Venom was underused.

sheridanm962 03-18-2012 03:12 PM

I haven't started watching John Carter, but I have it.

I have two seasons of The IT Crowd on a flashdrive, My Grandma says it's quite entertaining.

Mr. Bungle 03-18-2012 03:12 PM

I watched Green Lantern last night. Ehh. Kind of lame. Not the best superhero movie I've seen, that's for sure.
