it gets better when it's not half naked people being ritualistically chopped up
so like a third of the movie is good. |

Land of the Lost. Not ashamed to admit, I chuckled. More than once.

Also <3<3<3 Bright and Mr Notchar. |

Because the show sucked?
|
I watched some older films today:
"Ben - Hur", "The Robe" and "Gunfight at the O.K Corral" |
the chariot race in Ben Hur, brilliant stuff.

I saw Fantastic Mr. Fox. I liked it a lot, definitely something to see.
|
I'd like to see that, even though from what I saw in the trailer the animation is dodgy :S
|
what are you a fucking film producer? it's stop motion for christ's sake
|
I'm about to watch V for Vendetta for the second time. Hoorah
|
Yeah, it's stop motion. All I'm saying is it looked dodgy. I love stop motion. I'm saying it looked dodgy from what I saw in the trailer. I've read books on stop motion. It just looked a bit dodgy. I've even done a bit of (dodgy) stop motion. This just looked dodgy.
|
It's not dodgy at all.
It's...remarkably good, actually. |
Okay, I'm in.
|
read books on stop motion, lolllll. classic.
|
I've just seen *think think think* I saw *think think* it was a er um *think think think*
I haven't seen a movie for ages. Any recommendations? |
come on, now. you know that counts as annoying spam. edit some topical stuff into it.
watched A Simple Plan the other day. good film, nothing amazing, just good. ending seemed frustratingly rushed though. really wasn't enough time to reflect on his brother's death, and the effect on himself for doing it, at the very least. literally happened in the last 10 minutes. Billy Bob Thornton played a great role. |
:
I just watched Ghost Rider on TV. Terrible in every regard. Some seriously bad acting, and not just from Nicolas Cage. Awful script too, like the writer was using a corny one-liners thesaurus for reference. And as the whipped topping, the visual fx were very poor. Ghost Rider put his fingers in his mouth and whistled for his bike, he whistled ffs. Skeletons can't whistle. They can do alot, but they can't fucking whistle. |

The animation as represented in the trailer is not in that class. The camera is static, the characters are stiff and wooden and the animation is jerky. It's possible that it looks better in the final movie, but nothing about the trailer particularly makes me want to see it. |
Sekto: him again? i didn't think you liked Danny Elfman.
or was that someone else? |
I love Elfman. He's my favorite contemporary composer.
I (selectively) hate Williams and Zimmer though. @ Nate Budget is a huge concern. Not all stop motion can be silky smooth. Take Wallace and Gromit for example, or pretty much anything by Nick Park. His style is typically more rough around the edges, but it's unmistakably stylized and it's content makes up for any failing in it's medium. |
Give me Thomas Newman any day.

i want to unsee it. |
It's pretty awesome for me (and, I suppose, Taco) to watch because it was shot in Melbourne and it's freaking hilarious to see local landmarks dressed up to be cities in the American mid-West. Also, local actors with crappy accents pretending to be hicks.
|
The Inspector Gadget film was shot in my city. I can assure you this does not make me hate the film any less.

Joe Hisaishi, Tan Dun, Ennio Morricone, Alexandre Desplat, Wojiech Kilar. Two of them are principally classical compsers too. |
