The one thing positive I took away from this movie was Horcrux. If I ever get another cat, that shall be its name.
|
Horcrux sounds like slang for vagina.
"Let me enter your whorecrux" Still, how could they cut out Tonks? In the book she had a LOT to do with the plot. |

And there was no battle in the Great Hall. Bill wasn't savaged by Fenrir, he isn't going out with Phlegm and there was no point whatever in Draco bringing Death Eaters to the castle.

I've just seen the movie "Orphan" It gave me nightmares.
|
Because you realized that any day now your parents will realize what a mistake you are and will drop you off at an orphanage?
I don't blame you. |
NO DI!
he'll rant about how he apparently was left in an orphanage. he made sure we knew quickly. |
I just got back from watching Avatar.
It was impressive, so impressive. I did like it, the special effects were so good that you forget they're special effects. It's amazing. The amount of pure hard work and thought that has gone into this entire world is incredible. The storyline was pretty darn simplistic, and the writing may not be very complex, but the message and heart of the film gets across to every audience-member. The beauty of the native life and the nostalgia-snorting Power Armour Suits make for a beautiful film, and the giant battle at the end was awesome in every way. The story itself basically revolves around a natives and scientists = good soldiers and businessmen = bad narrative, which is rather easy to understand. The acting was great except for the more emotional moments, especially the main character's love scenes. However, he makes a great simplistic marine Jarhead, and every "Crap." as he falls off the horse-things is excellent. Sigourney Weaver's scientist character is wonderful, and the military general guy is one of the best antagonists ever. Seriously, he's awesome. I've got quite a feel nitpicks and comments that would be covered by spoiler tags, so... |
Getting fully immersed into it after the first few minutes was probably the best part. Especially in the scenes with Jake wandering through the woods.
The little frisbee salamanders should've played a more pivotal role, though. |

:
So you liked it too? |
I loved it. Not my favorite movie this year, but it was still stupendous.
Also helicopter lizards is a stupid name. Shame on you. Frisbee Salamanders or bust. |
But they don't frisbee, they Da Vinci Helicopter/
|
Just saw Law Abiding Citizen which is a good movie on it's own. But it also has an epic lulz scene which, goddamnit, I can't find on Youtube. That scene should be on fucking Youtube!!!
|
Meh.

I have one major complaint about Avatar:
The subtitles were all in http://modernl.com/images/illustrations/papyrus.png. This really really bothered me. |
:
Little lizards with ginormous fans on their backs that look like Da Vinci's spiral helicopter things. |
Okay, now I might go and see it. I like little lizards.

Avatar, my thoughts:
About 20 minutes in I just stopped caring about how corny the script was, the cliche characters, and the predictable storyline. Every person played their part so well that it all became cool again. Coupled with the magnificent eye candy of Pandora, I was utterly enchanted for three hours and remained that way for a good while after leaving the theater. I saw the revenge by nature coming form a mile away, but even then, I almost cried when it happened. Seeing all the soldiers get their asses kicked brought tears to my eyes. And, of course, the ending was just swell. Music was ace. James Horner never disappoints. As usual, Sigourney Weaver kicked ass. Glad to hear there will probably be sequels. I just hope it doesn't decay. And I agree. More helicopter lizards! |
i don't get the whole "light on story" thing some people have been saying, they obviously just want to be a critic
|
Shut up. You let me blather in peace.
|
i was letting you blather! you said the story was cliche but done well, which i agree with. cliche story =/= light on story though, amirite
|
That's true. I guess they don't mean not much, but they mean simple and easy to follow.
|
I mean, really, how long has it been since there was a movie so awesome that also conveyed a deep, underlying message of conservation?
*prepares to be schooled* |
Wall-E?
|
|
I didn't see that, but wasn't that more about consumerism instead? Hmm, I guess the two kind of go hand-in-hand though.

Just watched:
Zombieland, Chariots Of Fire, Inkheart, Journey To The Centre Of The Earth and Yes Man. There all good :D |
I just watched the eleventh pokemon movie: Giratina and the Sky Warrior.
I actually quite enjoyed it. |
I've only seen the first Pokemon movie, I did enjoy it though. The parts I liked best was when the pokemon fought without their skills and what happened to Ash when Mew and Mewtwo where fighting.
I've also seen the first Digimon movie, that's good too but the end of each part was pure cheese fest. I watched a subtitled Digimon X-evolution, that was awesome even though there were no humans in it. It actually has quite a sad storyline. |
I think everyone's seen the first pokemon movie, it's something you'd only possibly find good if you were into the first wave of pokemon and WERE THERE.
I mean, it's pretty damn awful. |
Yep that's where I was, although I only liked near the end the rest wasn't that great. The beginning was... cute, but that's it.
Oh God now i've got that song (try to catch me) stuck in my head. |
