I don't actually know what Metal Gear Solid is.

._.

This pretty much sums it up:

(And there's Part 2 as well)

And yeah, I hope AO wins against it - It's a lot more deserving since Oddworld is a hell of a lot more innovative and original than Metal Gear, in terms of art style.

Varrok 03-02-2011 09:27 AM

Would you be angry on me if I voted for MGS series which I love? I know I can't vote for both.
(Asking because of curiousity...)

Dynamithix 03-02-2011 09:45 AM

Why would any of us be angry for you voting for something you like? Do what you want, it's your choice.

Wil 03-02-2011 09:51 AM

Absolutely. And if none of us ever speak to you again, you can rest assured it's for some completely separate, albeit nondescript, reason.

STM 03-02-2011 10:48 AM

Not only will I hate you but I'll chop of the ear of one of your beloved pets and sew it onto my forehead. Find you and force you caress it with your tongue. Then I'll leave.

I know I can't vote for both.

Yes you can. You can vote for multiple games, up to a limit of (I think it was) 80 games.

Varrok 03-02-2011 09:03 PM

That's true, but both MGS and Oddworld are in the same "Action Genre" (which is so unbelievably stupid) and I simply get no option for voting for Oddworld after I did it with MGS :/ Maybe 80, but only one from each category... Another stupid thing is that Crash Bandicoot is there also. What's so similar in terms of art style, game genre, gameplay, anything for them to put on the same shelf? Geez.

Xavier 03-02-2011 10:00 PM

Dude, follow your heart. Vote for the game you feel you have to vote for.

STM 03-03-2011 02:58 AM

As long as it's Oddworld right?

Hazel-Rah 03-04-2011 05:53 PM

...and Yar's Revenge

Chlargia 03-10-2011 02:01 AM

i hope ao gets in, i voted for it ages ago

Devers 03-31-2011 01:06 PM

voted AO hope it wins :)

Crashpunk 03-31-2011 02:20 PM

Out of curiosity, when is the voting finishing?

Xavier 03-31-2011 11:34 PM

No idea, so I guess you can still vote.

erwinraaben55 04-02-2011 10:46 AM

Awhh, Oddworld did NOT win :(

Of course MGS was the winner in our catagory.

T-nex 05-05-2011 10:03 AM

Well thats why these contests always annoy me. They aren't about the most artistic games/items or the most deserving. It's just a popularity contest.

It's not to say that MGS didn't deserve to win. I haven't played it so I cant judge, but I really do think its just a popularity contest x_x buh. But maybe that's what they were after anyway.

Crashpunk 05-05-2011 10:13 AM

I had a feeling it wouldn't win. Oh well.

STM 05-05-2011 10:25 AM

At least Fallout won, that was my second vote. I agree with Nexy on this, it's just whatever game you know you vote for...would have been nice to see the stats though, to see how close it was.

Hulaabeo 05-06-2011 11:53 AM

Its shameful Oddworld didn't get in. People just voted for their favorite game, they didn't put any thought into their vote. Its ART OF VIDEOGAMES. Oddworld has amazing background and depth to it.

Manco 05-06-2011 12:12 PM

At least Okami and Earthworm Jim made it in.

But thats exactly the thing. Oddworld would have been a perfect representation of ART in games.... Dunno about MGS... Ive been backseater a few times for people who played it, and it seemed like a very exciting games with a good story. But when it gome to art, Oddworld just takes the cake. That's why i think these voting contests just dont cut it very well :(

Anyway I also voted Starcraft and Command and Conquer. THough I think C&C should have won as that was the game that set out the basics for what the next few RTS games would be like... Like CnC and Dune was the mother and father of RTS.

>_< Well Obviously Im just rambling.

Varrok 05-07-2011 12:54 AM

Unfortunately, MGS is a perfect represenation of art in games, just like Oddworld, it's a shame they fell the the same vote category... MGS sure is more popular than Oddworld :/

I don't know if I can agree with that, but I do think the "one game per group" setup was pretty unfair. If it was just a "here's the list of videogames from this era, vote for your favourite five", the results could have been very different.

Steamer_KING 05-07-2011 04:04 AM

I can't really say MGS deserves the art spot, even being a MGS fanatic from 1996, but MGS2 takes that role completely well. The thing about Metal Gear is that, although the artistic direction from them is quite different from Oddworld, one being 90% inspired on reality and other 100% fiction, both games pass their themes, messages and resolutions to make a better world or Oddworld. And since art can be defined by passing themes, politic directions, resolutions to the world, etc., I think both are great contenders. AND, if you know both series, you know that the purpose for both games isn't that far fetched as many of you think.

Now, the voting system? Not really good, as said above, it's more like a popularity contest.

Foxdie...?

Nanomachines.

Steamer_KING 05-07-2011 07:20 AM

Don't count MGS4 and you'll be a happy man. The series now is just going downhill...the last really good one was MGS2.

Daxter King 05-08-2011 09:56 AM

If it was a popularity contest then CoD would have won every category it was in. Halo 3 would have beaten Bioshock, etc. The only thing I found strange is Halo 2 being there but not Halo 1.

ITT:"People have different opinions than mine, the system must be broken"

Manco 05-08-2011 12:10 PM

Bioshock is also a very popular game, you know.

Also Halo 3 has received a lot of hate and criticism from people, despite its huge sales.
