that isnt really oddworld spotting, well, its is but thats just the basic saucer shape, theres lots of them, you see them all the time, not in real life obviously.

I was assuming it was a reference to aliens because there was also alot of hints here and there of aliens. Like: Vykker's Labs using the beam under the Lab to abduct specimens, they perform numerous experiments of lifeforms for no explained reason, they look like traditional aliens(short with large brains and gray skin), etc.
The saucer shape comparing cloud city your right about but the other stuff seems like too much to be coincidence :/

I've always heard the squarky croaking bird that's heard an awful lot on Oddworld. I'll often hear it when I'm watching a TV show set in the jungle or something, and I think I've heard it once when I was in a zoo somewhere. It bugs the hell out of me, particularly because I was under the impression it was unique to Oddworld.

recently i just watched a new english gameshow called 101 ways to leave a gameshow, and at the end, the winner music was the music from the end of abe's oddysee, you know, where abe farts?

In the Family Guy episode, Stew-Roids, there's a scene where Peter makes Stewie watch Spike TV to make Stewie more manly. One of the sound effects used in the background for the Spike TV sequence about men stuff is the distinct Oddworld "Fart" sound effect.

Both Family Guy and OWI probably got the fart off the same sound effect CD.

I kinda want to figure out where OWI gets all their sound effects.

This part isn't really a reference to Oddworld but, the Prophets in the Halo games look a bit like the Mudokons except with brown skin, fancy clothes, and facial hair.

I once saw a tree that looks like an Oddworld tree.

Part of the intro music from AO is incorporated into the soundtrack of Desperados: Wanted Dead or Alive, which was an RTS type game. I've searched online but can't find it to post :( but if anyone has the game then it's worth checking out. It's in the first level of the game.

In the movie "Daybreakers", there's a scene where there are two mutated vampire things charging at each other under a subway station. If you listen closely, they use the same sound as a Scrab when it "barks". Can't find a clip of it though.
