JFC, they have the nerve to imply that Triops sp. are somehow dinosaurs, that they are closely related to trilobites and then spelled "nauplius" wrong? Fuck.

Crustacea =/= Vertebrata =/= Trilobitomorpha

They do look cool, though.

Zerox 12-14-2007 12:35 PM

I used to have a couple. Ought to get more. Those things ruled.

Lived at time of dinosaurs. I mean, does that look like a dinosaur to you?

Bullet Magnet 12-14-2007 01:56 PM

Not really, no. It's more different from a dinosaur than we are.

And no, they didn't live at the time of dinosaurs. There were similar species, but the whole of Notostraca is in need of a review, as it hasn't been thoroughly examined since 1938, and only the carapaces were preserved in the Triassic strata. As a result, Triops, especially Triops cancriformis, is somewhat of a waste basket taxon, like Megalosaurus before the recognition of Dinosauria.

Note: I did recognise the sarcasm there. At least I hope that was sarcasm.

It's a dinosaur. My daughter says so and that's that.

Bullet Magnet 12-14-2007 02:00 PM

You have convinced me, Theodore.

OANST 12-14-2007 02:18 PM

Strike Witch 12-14-2007 03:47 PM

My favorite fail species is ghost.

Strike Witch 12-14-2007 11:50 PM

That is true, what with being dead already and all.

Disgruntled Intern 12-15-2007 03:01 PM

That just makes me think of the Video-Ouija episode of ATHF.

You know what I mean...

Which part did you mean was sarcasm? If that was directed at me...
