My mate who works at a mill and dabbles in his own indie metal projects made me a genuine PH blade . Like 5 feet long and 9 inches wide. The thing is a beastly 50 or 60 lbs. If I took it to a public place, I'd have the feds on me, but I gots Black Ops in the bushes, yo.
He's as big of a fan of PH as I am, and is working on a stylized metal PH helmet. Geekz0rz. Regardless, I'm gunna wear it around like a hat and rape things, living or nonliving, with my massive bologna pony.

The Silent Hill games scared me alot, one of the only games that did. Then again, about six years ago. The movie looks great though, real horror, with some gore. Just how I like 'em. I hope they put in those wierd, leg-monster Mannequin erm, things, they were funny.

Real cool Sekto, remember to post a picture of you in the full suit :)
*NOT including the person / corpse you are raping :P*

EDIT: Oh, just spotted something on that Wiki link that you should take note of;

Quote Wiki Trivia;
According to the Silent Hill developers, they designed the helmet so that it would appear to be painful to wear it.
End quote.

Have fun in agony ;)

2ND EDIT: Damn, spelling Mannequin is hard :P

3RD EDIT(!): I just noticed Pyramid Head is totally naked. Please... no picture! *Hides in corner*

Sekto Springs 04-16-2006 02:02 PM

Just because it's painful for him doesn't mean it has to be painful for me. There's a limit on Cosplay, all though you wouldn't know if you went to ComicCon. FAT GIRLS!

Cloverfield 04-17-2006 09:53 AM

Eeep! Help!

I clicked the link and got some page full of Japanese. I can usually navigate around a Japanese site pretty well, but this one had nothing that looked like a download link. I could see text for the file name and size, but nothing that linked to the download. All the links seemed to be either ads or the site's own links.

I think I'm missing something.

Abe Babe...

Ninjaxe 04-17-2006 10:52 AM

personally I perfer the game...you are more involved. I going to be like your average horror. Loud scream/thump etc and lots of gore.

It has reach uk yet. But I will go and watch it. See if it worth it!! I doubt it. I wasnt happy with the American version of Dark water and the Grudge. Built up was good. But it seem a bit too in your face. Japanese ones were much better. Judging on the music with american film is really good. Like the exorcist theme rocks

Sekto Springs 04-17-2006 12:42 PM

Kristen, sometimes the link doesn't always work. I honestly don't know what the problem is. :/
It happened to me a couple times whilst sending it to some of my chappies. My best advice; try to locate the video via search engine on your own and download it then (download took me a bloody hour).

Sorry for the inconvenience, and if it was something tangible, I'd irately beat it with fistful o' toaster-pillow.

Cloverfield 04-19-2006 08:20 AM

No problems. :) I think you're right, I'll have a hunt around for it. I tried the link a few more times and it still doesn't like me.

Sekto Springs 04-20-2006 09:58 AM

The movie officially releases in the next ten hours, people! The countdown begins...

*ORGASMS*

OANST 04-20-2006 11:27 AM

I'm actually pretty excited. I'm going to see it either tomorrow or Saturday.

used:) 04-20-2006 11:29 AM

Sat for me probably, can't see it Fri.

Cloverfield 04-20-2006 02:34 PM

I have to wait ... damn delayed Australian releases. We only get blockbusters at the same time as the US. I should try and find out what our release date will be, as I have no idea.

I guess I'll need to avoid this thread after tomorrow, cause it's probably going to become spoilerific. :p

Abe Babe...

Sekto Springs 04-20-2006 03:14 PM

My review will likely be massive. To those of you who don't like to/can't read, you won't need to be concerned with spoilers.

Oh, and Gabe, according to my sources; PH is being played by a canadian actor/body builder named Tanya Allen, I heard from another source it's being played by a man named Roberto Campanella. Perhaps they ARE including two Pyramid Heads in this film, or perhaps they interchange actors accordingly for some reason.

used:) 04-20-2006 06:21 PM

Wtf kind of name for PH is Tanya? Dern them dern canerdians!

Henry Townshed and Eddie Dombrowski? Completely unexpected... they aren't even in the same timeframe as far as the Silent Hill plot lines go. More liberties with characters, I suppose. Not necessarily a bad thing.

Red Pyramid must be an enemy separate from Pyramid Head, considering Pyramid's Head isn't... red.

Sekto Springs 04-20-2006 08:34 PM

Actually, Luke, this is the first I've heard of 'Pyramid Head' mentioned as such in the movie context. Up until now he's been referred to as 'The Red Pyramid' (see the first picture of him on page 1).

Now I'm questioning the fabric of reality itself.

OANST 04-21-2006 05:59 AM

I'm going to see it as soon as I get off work. Should be fun.

Sekto Springs 04-21-2006 07:43 AM

I really hope this movie does well. I am a bit a-feared for it's success.

For the good half-decade, the biz has been churning out some god awful films. Originally, the public raced to see them despite how absolute shit they appear to be. Lately, I think people are finally getting a fucking clue that modern horror is a flawed genre - the likes of which is getting worse and worse. Though I have not seen it yet, I believe Silent Hill has the potential to break that chain and ameliorate the horror movie industry. I just hope and pray that the people who are catching on will give this break in the pattern a chance.

EDIT: Okay, Tanya Allen officially ain't playing PH.
This dude is, as well as the Janitor...

I'm Foaming At The Mouth!

Spoilers?

Just saw it!
I loved it! :D Pyramid Head was so HOT! :p Skinning scene...God yes. Violent. Brutal...Goddamned sexy. ;)
The ending was awesome, and I loved the Nurse Demons! Who couldn't love the Gray Children? That whole scene was directly from the first game. The Miners and Janitor were great, too!

The PH Otaku has given this movie:
9.7/10

Cloverfield 04-21-2006 06:50 PM

Okay, this is my last post in here ... well maybe not, I might check out Sekto's un-spoilerific review. Well I want to bitch. I looked up the Australian release date.

31st of goddammed August. WTF kind of release date is that. *sigh*

*waits 4 months* GRRRR!!!

I have no idea why it's going to be that long. Probably cause of some stupid censor issue, Australia has stupid censorship sometimes. I know we have to wait for movies, but not usually that long.

Anyways, I've heard the term "Red Pyramids" before ... I have a song by that name, but it's not from any of the official OSTs, it's one of the in-game pieces from SH2 that wasn't included on the OST, so I guess it was just a fan name for it.

Maybe I should hunt for a soundtrack to tide me over. Meh.

Abe Babe...

OANST 04-21-2006 07:01 PM

Just got back from seeing it. I must say that it was pretty good. There was definitely a lot of bad acting but there was also some pretty good acting. There was a lot of genuinely creepy shit going on through the whole thing. Thumbs up.

Sekto Springs 04-22-2006 04:09 PM

Saw it. 'Twas grand.

*OMFG SPOILERS*

The movie was not quite what I had expected, but it was brilliantly done regardless. I'm breaking this review into segments for easy viewing, plus my brain hurts.

Imagery: 10/10
The atmosphere was fantastic, perfectly digusting and filthy. The rustic elements were in perfect harmony with the actions that were occurring among the settings. The scene with the Janitor gave a great sense of confinement and claustrophobia as he devoured the room in red ripley. The scene with the acid-belching lying figure was great, though it seemed a bit tacked on. The fog enveloping the figure created a sense of tension and suspense as your eyes raced to make out the features of the thing as it stumbled out of the mist and came into focus. The transitional effects between the foggy dimension and the rustic dimension was ingenius, though the rustic dimension had a bit of a problem with light balance. If you weren't in a darkened theatre, I guarantee you wouldn't be able to see a thing.

Violence/vulgarity ratio: 9.5/10
What I mean is... is it in balance with what's going on? The gore was there, oh was it ever, but instead of delivering it parcelled in even doses, there were scenes of just pure gore after a long scene of nothing too interesting occurring (gore-wise). Particularly noted in the final scene in which Alessa rips the 'sinners' to shreds with her barb wire carriage (that gave me a mega boner).
As far as swearing goes, there was a fair amount, enough to seperate it an R movie from a PG-13 movie. And nudity, well, other than the breef skinning sequence (FARKING AWESOME) and the risqueness of the nurses' breast-lifting outfits, there was pretty much nothing for the fan boys to krank off to later.

Game Accuracy: 7/10
The story was definitely revamped a fair amount. Alot of scenes were taken right from the game though, and it was great to see them reenacted with actors and grade A effects.

Creatures: 10/10
I have listed these in order of appearance...

Grey Children: Fantastic and extremely disturbing in both design and characterization. The apparent innocence of a child misleads you into a short-lived false sense of security, as they lift their heads into the light and open their distorted mouths to let out their signature ear-splitting shriek. I believe the effects were a mix of actors in suits and enhancing CGI effects such as glowing eyes, skin pattern, and glowing sinders that slowly consumed them before they fell prey to the return of the foggy dimension.

The Janitor:
A disturbing being that took you by gracious surprise. The most human of the monsters (other than PH). The design was a bit simple, but he was disturbing nonetheless, and the depravity of him as a human only adds to the creepiness.

Pyramid Head (and his little pets):
I love and worship him forever. The design was sweet but I don't have to tell that to most of you. By far the most ominous and forboding villain, a monstrous figure accompanied by an endless wave of devilish little insects and of course his Great Knife (which was even too heavy for him evidently). My only wish is that we saw a bit more of him and his amazing strength (I wish I could skin people that way!). He needs his own damn movie.

Lying Figure:
Very little difference to the game version other than the mouth looks less like a vagina. Creepy and grotesque in every sense of the word. Make up effects were spot on and really submitted a great feeling of overwhelming disgust.

Nurses:
Not much different from the game. Twitchy, risque costumes, and lots of female orgasm sounds. It seemed a bit lame that they were all clustered having an orgy in the middle of a hall way instead of being evenly distributed wandering the dark halls of Brookhaven.

As far as acting goes, I don't have much to say other than it was bad with the exception of whoever played the radical Christabella bitch. Just bad. Wooden. Not good at pretending they're scared. Etc. etc. etc. No one goes to see this movie for the actors.

Cybil = huge dike.

Overall: 9/10
Pros: Great atmosphere. Great monsters. Great story. Stuff that only appeals to old-school SH fans.

Cons: Bad acting. Satisfactory CG effects. A poorly composed ending.

Just go see it. Now.

HobbitNinj 04-22-2006 04:49 PM

For anyone who hasn't played the games and wants to get some of the "easter egg moments",e.g. the parts where the copied the game, go to http://www.amybalot.com/silenthill/ . This site has the story lines and just about every cutscene from all four games.
http://www.silenceisbroken.com/noiz/main.html has all the spooky soundtracks.

Alector 04-23-2006 09:22 AM

I started playing Silent Hill 4 a couple of weeks ago and didn't continue it because of less time (or because I always get diarrhoe when I play it XD). j/k. I really have to continue it, it's actually a masterpiece.

I need to play the other three parts because I know that there is always a little bit of relation. I would like to see that movie, probably it's good, maybe it's boring.

I don't know if you know this video already, but it's a really funny piece about the Pyramid Head. XD

Sekto Springs 04-23-2006 09:53 AM

Ha. Alex, if you like 4 then you'll positively worship the first 3, because 4 pretty much sucks alot of wet ass.

Nice video ;)

HobbitNinj 04-24-2006 05:30 AM

Silent Hill 4 does not "suck alot of wet ass". It's not the best, but it is definatly better than the Resident Evil series. The "hauntings" in the apartment scared the crap out of me. Totally unexpected creepyness.

Sekto Springs 04-24-2006 09:46 AM

Anything horror seems better when compared to RE, but we aren't talking about RE. On a Silent Hill level, SH4 does indeed suck alot of wet ass, mostly because it seemed to lack the psychological horror we've all come to love from SH. That's just my standpoint though.

HobbitNinj 04-24-2006 11:32 AM

There were no siren changes to the "other" world, a flashlight, or a radio. Instead there is a nifty first person view point and a linited inventory. Otherwise it is the same game. creepy monsters, creepy cult, "innocent" bystanders. The psychological horror is still there, most of the killable monsters are creations of Walter's psyche and the room hauntings. Konomi just wanted to get away from the " I got to go to Silent Hill to find ______." storyline.

AquaticAmbi 04-24-2006 05:09 PM

I demand that someone find a picture of the mannequin monster. Kays?

Sekto Springs 04-24-2006 05:56 PM

Mannequins were raped by PH, but I didn't notice any vaginas.
Then again, PH got off with his clothes on... :dodgy:

Stupid japanese censorship.

And Amber, do you mean from the game or what? Just do a Google search or whatever.

AquaticAmbi 04-24-2006 06:26 PM

Well, since this is a thread about the movie, a safe assumption is that I meant the movie. :p

I read that there's some nakey mannequins running around the movie, and I'm curious about how they look.

Sekto Springs 04-24-2006 06:33 PM

There aren't any in the movie, Amber. Sorry to break it to you. I listed all the creatures seen above.

Xavier 04-25-2006 06:50 AM

is that what they look like?

HobbitNinj 04-25-2006 11:34 AM

Yep. Those are mannequins. Neat find Xavier, I wish the top one was in the movie... looks creepier than the Patients.

Majic 04-25-2006 05:45 PM

:

Nah.

They just adjusted the name/plot for an entirely new game to shy away from the dangers of launching an entire new franchise. It wasn't initially intended as a SH game at all.

In other news, I want to see the movie. It looks good.

The psychological horror that Silent Hill is famous for is a direct result of the games ambiguity. We fear what we don't [ or in the case of silent hill, can't ] comprehend. That's not to say that the storyline was overly complicated, but many of the creatures and visuals were just, well, wrong.

While the fourth installment was fairly mediocre, it still made me throw down the controller a few times.

As far as the RE series is concerned, the first two games were great. 4 was great. Not really scary, but fun none the less.

Marco the Glukkon 05-01-2006 06:35 AM

Ok here's my opinion...

Ok, since never playing the game before in my life ( Resident Evil is what I play for survival horror), I thought it neat to see the movie. It made you think, which sometimes was too much when you tried to enjoy it. I really enjoyed the fact that all the sounds were loud and scary when they needed to be, and the film's atmosphere was perfected to the point of what Silent Hill was, a ghostly horror town playing on the visitor's psyche. It was ok, and Pyramid Head was awesome!!

But, here is the big question.. What the heck was up with that ending? Did anybody understand that? Everyone in the theatre groaned because they thought, as well as I did, the ending was crap.

So, if anyone can tell me what the heck was up with that ending, let me know lol.

Mojo 05-02-2006 12:22 PM

I hate it when people do that. The same with LOTR. The peeps in the theatre wouldn't understand that it was 1 out of three parts of 1 story...

It's kind of sad if no one realized that Rose and her daughter were wandering ghosts the whole movie.

Yeah people, they've all already been damned, that's the metaphor.
