Nonetheless, you're quite right. The Art Of book goes on to describe them further. The name Skrikits was produced by a member of the Exoddus Club, a private Oddworld club that opened up around the time of Abe's Exoddus's release and pre-dated the Oddworld Forums. |
hmmmmm okay... I'll change that when I've got some time ;)
edit: done |
Whoa! They had an Exoddus club!?!
Was it a real Oddworld club or one like on a web site or something?:fuzconf: |
it was a club with fans and sometimes an inhabitant popped in
like here with Alf and Alf's Assistant |
It wasn't official at all, just a Yahoo Club.
Oh now look what you've done, I'm getting all nostalgic about it. |
so many creatures i didn't know about. i looked on TOGG and saw some images of guardians
|
I know! So many beautiful creatures we didnt really know about. I hope they are all in future games and not just wasted.
|
I'm sure that if OWF wants to use them all in one setting, they will probably pack it all into the anticipated movie that they are supposidly working on. I heard that the Sea Rex will be featured in the movie.
|
I doubt it. Packing in countless creatures into a movie is not a method practised by many.
I also doubt the Sea Rex (where did you hear it?) - I'm led to believe any first movie will be the tell of Abe's story. Probably following the story of Abe's Oddysee, rather than AE and AO together, because it will be more focused and inevitably better for a 100 minute animation; and AO does not requier the sea. Of course, they could put in a token shot for some reason or other. |
Yeah, it seems logical to start at the beginning regardless of where the series progresses. I believe that token shot could be the water around the 1st section of the stockyards (thats if they go into significant detail), but thats not really a sea.
|
It would seem unlikly to use all of oddworlds creatures in one film, it would have to be a very large film, or multiple films. They could use the sea rex in an oddworld film, provided they a shot that showed the sea and then moved more on land to show other oddworld creatures.
|
Yeah, they could do something like showing Abe saving Mudokons and then they come out of the portal(like in Munch's Oddysee) near a Mudokon village with a lake and some other Muds wrestling a Sea Rex thay are going to cook. something like that.
I think it would actually be a good thing to show a lot of the creatures in one movie, that way you could do some cool stuff with them in the future. |
i have a feeling it would be an okay movie, not such a good movie if it were to come out.
|
That makes no sence. You think it would be a good movie, but not if it came out. OK:rolleyes:.
|
too much new creatures woudn't be a 100% good idea
pleople still have to relate to that world, and that isn't as easy if all the creatures are weird and unnatural |
:
|
ok icarus why do you have to pick on him like that i shouldnt be the one talking because im new and all but still its like your acting like the 1st grader by saying something like that, why? anyway yeah i think it would be a really great idea, to have a movie and start from the beginning and showing many oddworld creatures would be great, aslong as there isnt to many of them everywhere.
|
Normally I would be against gratuitous appearances of essentially random Oddworld wildlife with no relevence to the story, but I just thought of something. Perhaps a scene could be depicted showing the rich complexity of Oddworld's natural biomes, full of weird plants and creatures, as a stark contrast to the industrial factories which pave over it all.
|
Do you mean factories in the background?
Not quite sure what you're trying to say. |
I think I can see what you're going for there Max. Kind of like a montage and/or voiced over piece showing Oddworldian creatures in natural habitats and the effects the Industrials have had on them over a period of time? I could see it being used as an extended introduction to Oddysee, or perhaps the part in which Abe is given visions from Big Face after having fallen down the cliff.
|
Ahhh, I see what you're saying Max. Tom just stated it a little more clear, thanks Tom.
Anyways, good idea, Max. I think that would be very cool. |
TomFrogMan, are you suggesting something similar to the montages when Abe goes to Paramonia and Scrabania in AO and sees what they had been like before Rupturefarms? Because I think Max was suggesting something a little more subtle; like a scene where Abe is walking through a forest and sees all the creatures and then sees an area that has been devastated by the industrialists (or the same place, later).
|
I'm suggesting something similar, but more in depth. An extended variety of different shots of many Oddworldian creatures and environments, as opposed to simply showing Paramites and Scrabs prancing about for a few seconds, then perhaps fading into showing these same places and little by little showing how the Industrials corrupted and exploited their land.
Oh, just a side note; a lot of people are refering to me as 'TomFrogMan'. Frogman is my middle name and just one word. ^^ |
Sorry about the FrogMan thing. I actually thought to check the capitalisation but I figured I was safe to assume the M would be. That's taught me a lesson!
Anyway, I think a more subtly approach is needed in a feature film. You can't just shove a message down people's throats. |
Wow, my unrefined idea has sparked some kind of creativity. Unfortunately, I wasn't thinking so subtly. I don't think the point of flashbacks is to be particularly subtle but to rather explicitly highlight whatever difference there may be. In my jungle-trekking experience, you don't see animals of any kind, so cutting away from Abe's plot would be more realistic to me. A montage is the best way of putting it.

yeah wow thats sounds great that really is a good idea it would work perfectly!
