Ya know, the only reason I ever even BOUGHT a PS 1 is becouse of one night when I was whatching MTV and say the amazing comercal for Abes Oddysee.  Trust me, I'd probbably still be playing Primal Rage on the SNES right now if it haddent been for Abe. I don't care what system has the game, I only care what game is on the system. I've always only bought game systems if the game I really want is comming out on them. In fact, I'm not buying a Game Boy addvance unless they hurry up and release that "Creatures" game for it. For now, my "Primitive" gameboy color shall be all I need. Oh yeah, you wanna know somthing sad? I only bought a dream cast becouse I wanted to play Seaman on it. The game stunk. steelshark, i did NOT side with the newcomer. i sided with NO-ONE. i was not getting at the Xbox, i was merely pointing out that they all have their good and bad points: the Xbox is very powerful, but also more expensive; the Gamecube is cheap, but not very powerful. and no, i am not just short that extra £100, i can't afford any consoles, and even if i could, i consider them a waste of money.

Yeah, I'm sorta in the middle. I think XBOX will be great system, but I also like my PS2, and Gamecube should be very good. All systems have good points and bad points. XBOX is very powerful (and has Munch :) ), but it is more exspensive than Gamecube. Gamecube is more compact, and cheaper, but its not quite as powerful as the almighty 'BOX. PS2 has years head start on the others, and will have the biggest game library of all for a while ('cause it can play PS games), but it is not as powerful as either. So no one system is going to be completely left behind by the others, and as long as they make games for that system, everyone will be happy.

When a machine is a "technological marvel" as Luxo said. Well I have to believe it will be a success. This machine of extreme high level technolgy will enable the talented artists and programmers less of a bottleneck in there creations, in every facet the creators of games will be able to give gamers more. From A.I. to Physics, more scripts for NPC'S, lighting, shadows,overall gameplay enchancement due to all the extra power available. Draw distance and expansive environments will keep the players into games as if they are really there. HI rez screens with better fill rate and texture purity along with 5.1 Dolby surround sound will give that sound the bang we all want, along with the musical scores crisp and clean. High level polys also will round off everything, from Characters/creatures to landscapes and structures. All this is possible due to the power. Technological advances are vital, and this machine does have the backing of a giant in the world of Buisness, like it or not, it is a fact.
There will be about 2 million XBOX's worldwide give or take 200.000 by April 2002. About 800 thousand to 1 million in the USA and another 5 to 600 thousand in Europe and in Japan. Japan is expecting 300 thousand at Launch on 2-22 2002. Another 200K the next 2 months. Europe expects 500K at launch and another 100K it's first month after launch. Now these numbers are not just off the top of my head, they are numbers from marketing researh teams. Look at what the BOX has already done, it is unavailable as soon as it comes up at any retailer.It seels out. And just wait till the common people get a glimpse, the casual gamer,this Holiday season and beyond will just jump in sales.And as the games get better and with time more people jump aboard the totals will grow and grow. It's a great machine with tons of talent backing it. How can anyone even remotely intelligent deny this machine success. I back Sony, Nintendo, I own all there machines and will continue to do so. I like them, fun consoles, I like options,they give me more. But the XBOX is my choice for reasons that can not be discussed here,unless I keep typing for another 2 days. I have seen the future of XBOX games in detail from many companies, I know just how many really top notch games are in the works, far beyond what we have seen thus far and even what we will see this Fall. It's just a matter of time for all to see what I have already witnessed. By Christmas 2002 4 million Xbox's will be in homes around the world. And from there it will just grow and grow. Don't believe me fine, it's your right, but when it happens maybe you will take the word of someone a bit easier next time. This is taking too much of my time,got to go. A couple other things before I do, I defend the system because I believe in it, and it stuns me to see some people that actually think it will or might fail, and they have not actually seen anything concrete of it or for that matter have no real experience in the making of games. Anyway it's time for America to have a system of there own, enough with just the Japanese monopoly. People tht really want the best games should be welcoming the new XBOX, it will give better overall experiences and fun due to it's extra power, bottomline, it has already shown me, and soon it will show the naysayers as well.So lets let the XBOX do my talking from now on. I tried to help the blind, your on your own now. I'll give you one example already of the XBOX advantage: November 15th I'll be playing Munch and a ton of other great Launch titles and in the weeks and months to follow, without an XBOX my day just would not be as fun. Yes SS I do care that the X-Box will succeed for those that believe in it. And if it does, I might just as well get one myself. Basically the reason for first three sentences are explained in the second to the last one. I am fed up and the reason is simple. Because I know that no matter how many facts are thrown, how many names are called, etc. there will be people who will stubbornly stand by what they believe in. The pro X-Box, the pro PS2, etc. Then you have what I call the 'true neutrals' which is what I am. There is very little that provokes me one way or another. It takes a lot to get me angry or to make me sad. The reason is the same as why the sky is blue and the grass is green: it just is...and therefore I'm just am. I have watched this debate (and others), occassionally putting in my piece when I felt it approprate. A lot of the times I just shake my head at the stubborness of some ppl who just can't see that they are not getting anywhere with the debate. Debates like whether the X-Box will fail or not, whether Harry Potter is the work of the devil, whether eating meat is moral, etc are truly pointless to me...as no one can win them. So I ask you...all of you...before you hit that 'Reply' button, ask yourself this: "What is the reason for this reply? What is the likelyhood of me proving the other wrong? when i said the xbox would fail, i meant that it would be unpopular. i also said [as you would have noticed had you read anyone else's posts] that the xbox was the best console there was. THAT is why i would buy one; because it is good. but it will also be unpopular, partly because of the price, and partly because people [NOT me, before you start flaming me for this] believe that Microsoft is attempting to monopolise the computer industry. despite the fact that it will be very good, it will not be popular. i firmly believe that there is never any connection between what is good and what is popular, and the xbox will probably be a prime example, for the reasons i have already stated. so, in answer to your questions: 1) i do not care because i can't afford any consoles, so the issue does not affect me 2) i would buy an xbox if i had the money because it is the best console around 3) i said it would fail because i believe that it will not be popular. i believe this because i have heard many people criticising the xbox recently, for the reasons i outlined above. i am NOT taking their word above yours, since you have already convinced me that the xbox will be a fantastic machine, but if they represent the majority, then, for obvious reasons, the xbox will not be popular. i hope i have cleared this up for you, so you can now stop attacking me for something i haven't done. |

So far I've heared about 3 games for X-box and 1 good 1 (M.O) The Ps2hasWipeeot fusion which more-or-less equals M.O for prestige. Then theres Metal Gear Solid ; Sons of Liberty. Gran Turismo 3 , which sold 5.3 million units in 5 hours! Then there's a whole lot of lesser but still good games. Silent Hill 2, Commandos 2, GTA 3, Timesplitters 2, Tekken 4, Mortal Kombat 4, Virtual Fighter 4, Aliens: colonial marines FF X... The list goes on and on. Yes, the X-box will have better graphics and more memory but at the end of the day its games that count and here the X-box is found lacking.

I'm definetly an XBOX fan, because while XBOX doesn't have as many "old favorites" as PS2 and Gamecube, it will have many amazing games. I think that the games will be able to take full advantage of the 'BOX's good points.
BTW Munchy, just to let you now there will be a Metal Gear Solid game on XBOX, and there's rumors that there'll be FF X and/or FF XI, and I think Timesplitters 2 is coming out on the 'BOX eventually...I hope so. I loved that game. Also when you say "XBOX has more memory", it's the ONLY console to have a hard drive, and it'll have an ethernet connection. |
