Jesus thinks you're a jerk.

To answer your question Lucipher, God has done a lot for me. My religion has been a very good influence on my life and I think that it would be great if everyone were Christian.
That being said, I think a lot of what you and Jacob said is true. Religion does cause problems. But it isn't a flaw with the religion, it is a flaw with humans. People always mess up what the Bible or the Quran, etc... is teaching them. But don't assume that religion is pointless. I get annoyed by plenty of "Christians" who think they know what they are talking about. Although I believe that obeying God's teachings in the Bible will help me live the best life (and death) I can, that doesn't mean I'm better than you. Basically what I'm saying is that religion is always good, but religious people are often bad. |

Concerning power hungry people. If I recall, a few Popes in history have had the power of being 'Pope' go to their heads. They basically deemed themselves the title of 'God'. That, like the creation of every denomination, is a result of greed and power. Although, there were a few legitimate denominations, like Calvinism. John Calvin (founder of Calvinism) could see the flaws in Catholicism, but he still believed in the core beliefs - somewhat similar to myself. Alcar... |

There doesnt' have to be one that's true. Religion is made up of beliefs. Everyones religion is true to them in it.
|
Basically, popes, jahovas (shudders at thought of their brocures) and religion being sadist to one another should really be abolished to ensure a safe future and less maybe even no wars. I have already started, like the time when I stabbed a vicar to death with a rapier........i've said too much.

it doesn't make any sense...

Also, religions contain many beliefs, but that is not all. The beliefs are based on fact. There is a lot of archeological and scientific evidence to support many Biblical events. One example is the world wide flood. You can't ignore the fact that nearly all major civilizations have some sort of flood story. Many of them are startelingly similar. Also, there is scientific evidence to support the flood, such as water erosion in deserts and mountains, as well as fish and whale bones in the middle of deserts. |

Floods can be caused by anything. Many civilizations may speak of one, but floods aren't the rarest occurance in the world, they may have all had different ones, at different times. |
Jesus had the nails hammered into his wrists.
Stigmata takes place on the palms of the hands. You do the math. If you can't i shall explain. People, such as me recently, believe that Jesus was nailed to the cross through the palms. They believe in him so much that they cause the Stigmata effect. This links to the whole Prayer thing. Were someone will Pray to God, believe with all his Heart he will listen, and their Prayer comes true. God isn't doing it. That person is. Its like Witchcraft, using one's own energy to do shtuffs...yes. |
That's what I think too. They make it happen themselves.

well, I seriously think Jesus would be very disappointed with with the way some people have interpreted his teachings. It becomes as simple as that SNL espisode where the only comfort Christ finds during Christmas is when watching the Charlie Brown Christmas special, and seeing that a CHILD truly understands the meaning of Christmas, and Christianity in general, while society is just concerned with using his teachings for their own personal game.
Fanatics and greed have basically ruined the idea of relgion for some people, which is tragic to say the least. |
hey lucifer do u reckon it wld b cool if u cld strap a nuke 2 som1s sole n kill god when the sole goes upstairs? im gonna try that! any volentiers!

Maybe I shouldn't post in this topic yet because I haven't read half of it yet. .. *is too tired. Will read it when he's more awake* But let me just say this:
After a bit of thinking I did a while ago about existance, as a result of a conversation I was having with my girlfriend, I relaised that one of the main reasons religion exists is because people need something to live for - A reason for thier existance, and the existance of the things around them. A reason to live. It's what keeps people going. There are very few people who can face the fact that our existance may be completely and totally pointless. As for myself, I choose not to belive in anything. For me, life just exosts. It's here, infront of us all. But I don't really care about why it exists or why I exist. All I live for is my friends, my family, and my pets. If I ever life for myself at any moment by keeping my life as fun and as happy as it possibly can be, is to stop me from going insane. - DH |
