I think whoever suplied the information was simply detailing the main character as close as he could to earthly animals in an attempt to get us to visualise it better.

You know maybe your right because the horse Monkey thing is not a creature you would see on Oddworld. Maybe this new thing is something that looks sort of like what that described. But I am still thinking its sounds a little far fetched. But that is just me. We will just have to wait and see.
