I was hoping he's just trolling.

Glad I know how to easily get everyone riled up now.

... No, really, don't, that's too low to joke about. Even I'd feel like shit doing that. |
I'd definately but it for £18 for my PS3. Hell I might buy it on Mac too for when I'm at Uni. Respect to the Oddworld and JAW team, you have allowed me to relive my childhood :')
|
Of course I wasn't joking. What, you think I WOULDN'T openly admit to torrenting an Oddworld game on this forum? That would be stupid.
Deffo torrenting. :
|
Oh hey, it's one of those things that isn't funny.
|
I promise this isn't a shot at you Nepsotic, but if you make a sarcastic comment like that and no one can tell you're being sarcastic, it might say something about how people perceive you. Now, you could blame everyone else, or you could just act to edgy for everyone and say you don't care, but you could alternatively take that on board.
Any way, I'm not gonna start up a hate band wagon or anything, so to thinly veil my previous comment with something on-topic: is anyone else excited about the prospect of additional content? I'm supposing Lorne means DLC. Additional content for AEHD sounds awesome though, because that could potentially be places we've never seen before! |
(@Phylum)I guess it fits in well with the rest of this forum then.
Also, I disagree. I found it hilarious. It was an entertaining read, therefore I deem it successful. E- speedy @STM I'm not trying to act edgy at all, but I honestly stopped caring a long time ago, the only reason I still actually come here is the possibilty of interesting discussion and Oddworld news. On topic: I am excited about additional content, anything new usually peaks my interest and DLC seems like such an odd concept in relation to Abe's Oddysee that I'm really interested to see what they come up with. |
:
This site is wacky! You guys are so bi-polar sometimes. :) |
Sarcasm doesn't work if it's text. So stop trying to be funny.
Whatever. What I said still applies. Anyone who torrents Indie games are disgusting people. :

...iseewhatyoudidthere.
Anyway. Back on topic. I'm really interested about this Additional content. It would be awesome to see SligStorm as one of them. |
Round of applause for Nep, everyone, who discovered ironic humour today. Way to go, champ.
$30 for an indie title is a lot higher than what most Steam users are used to. But frankly, in this age of crowdfunding, if you spin it right that could almost be a marketing gimmick. "Pay more! Support indie development! Resurrect a beloved franchise!" As long as you put it on sale occasionally, I expect NnT will sell very well. As for the expansions, like STM said, we've pretty much had that confirmed since MudoCon. Can't wait to see FeeCo. in 3D! Still pissed off about the delayed launch, though. If you treat all PC users like pirates, more will act like them. It's not a smart move. Considering I'm going to buy it at launch rather than wait for a sale like a sensible consumer, it'd be nice if JAW would have the decency to let me play it with everyone else. |
£18 may be a bit steep compared to other indie titles, but Oddworld is an established brand that people are familiar with, and of course New N Tasty being a remake of AO, it's a game that people are already familiar with and for those who loved it, they know that New N Tasty is a game that they will love so they will probably be willing to pay £18, which to be fair is a small price for the sheer effort that has been put in here, not just in terms of development, but the fact that the entire project has been self funded and will be self published.
|
Maybe DLC will allow us to go to places we've never seen before on Mudos? It'd be an interesting way of slowly introducing places that will be further explored in future games.
|
And with the classic gameplay that New N Tasty has, that will be a sure winner!
|
Lol if Nepspastic was being serious I would buy him the game just so he would not torrent it. But seeing as he made me laugh and how people reacted, I'm still not going to buy him a steam copy.
I'm assuming for the dlc content, that they have built the foundations of the game and can easily add or change assets on the fly. So slig storm doesn't sound like it's an unrealistic possibility :) |

Oh no, just what on Earth will I do without VOT's charity?

Come on, man!

And they’ve been hyping up their GDC reveal for the past few days, and they’ve chosen now to start talking about the game’s price and what future projects their profit will fund. I’m fairly sure they’re planning something, so chill. |
I don't think they'll have any problem hitting that 250K target. Even considering the price increase from Stranger HD.

I dunno. Mail some letters? Tie your shoes? Watch a picture film? Lol |
uh oh the timer on the site is going into the negatives. shit, its gonna take 1hour 3 minutes and 46 seconds counting upwards until its release at the end of time itself. lol whoops

It's getting coverage on gaming media sites. That's free advertising to some big numbers. Exhibitions at E3 and GDC count as advertising. What finger are they needing to pull out again, Nep? |
Ok, from now on everyone shuts the hell up about Nepsotic's failed attempt at sarcasm or I'll start infracting people.
Phylum, my point exactly, JAW and OWI have done a good job on the awareness side of things. On the other hand we still have no idea of how the game will actually play or how it will look like in motion (the pre Alpha does not count as it was a different engine and was done way too long ago). |
To touch on the pricing of stuff...
So StrangerHD was a "conversion" with added extras, like better textures/audio/models/trophies/leaderboards/unlockables, but it was STILL a conversion so the production cost was a LOT lower than that of NnT, around 1/5 of the cost to be exact. With NnT, there is 2 textures in the entire game that were in the original, EVERYTHING else has been rebuilt and then some. Today's little end to the countdown will show you a SMALL amount of what we've been keeping secret all this time ;-) This isn't the traditional "indie" title, IE it's not some "Art House" video game, which a lot of Indie games are. This is, effectively, our attempted at a AAA title with "Indie" funding. Anyway, come back to me around 4:10 (GMT) today when you've seen the end of the countdown ;) |
You got it, man!
