The same reason Munch made boing sounds when he hopped, and Abe falling down slopes was accompanied by a slide whistle; poor judgement.

Wil has already said that they're having them remade, though? Why even mention the pig sounds? They've acknowledged that they're going.

The sounds fit into the original game because everything was at that quality. It would stick out more in a different context.
