Adult fears are worse than kid fears. And absolutely tasteless to dress as.

Deep sea creatures are pretty creepy. Like that Bloop or whatever.

You want a scary deep sea creature?
Angler fish, fucking hanging. http://www-tc.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/abys...s/wudep25.jpeg |

It sounded like a landslide to me.

Forgive me for relying on Wikipedia, but Wikipedia doesn’t say that they ever found the source.
|
They have no proof of what it was exactly, which is probably why there's nothing definitive on Wiki. I've just read articles here and there that have mutual postulations.
There's actually quite a few unknown sounds the NOAA have recorded over the years. I think "Julia" is far more distinct and disturbing than the Bloop, because it sounds the most organic, enough to earn it the personified title. You can hear it here. The other interesting thing is the most famous of these recordings almost all took place within the span of a few months in 1997, with a few exceptions. There haven't been any significant recordings since, despite the improvements of hydrophone technology. |
I heard Julia on an /x/ thread a little while ago, didn't phase me. I don't get it. Just sounds like underwater noises.
|
Well, there's a few things that aren't evident in the sound itself that lend to the mystery.
For one, the sound is sped up/pitched up 16x it's recorded speed, otherwise it would be at too low a frequency for us to hear. So, if it were above water, it would be a basso bellowing that would make our eyes bleed and shatter buildings. Also, all these recordings are apparently super fucking loud considering how sound waves travel through water. Many of these sounds were picked up by microphones that were over 5,000 kilometers away. What does all that mean? Only that whatever caused the sound would have to be incredibly massive, and that some of the sounds have been designated as possibly being organic in origin. |
No definitive proof therefore it's a monster!
Like how the pyramids were built by aliens. |
I want it to be a monster so bad. Unfortunately, I know that the chances of it being organic in nature are next to none.
|
I remember first hearing the Bloop when Cloverfield was starting its ad campaign and I saw some mockup of what the monster supposedly looked like (a big whale biped thing that looked nothing like what was actually in the movie) and thinking It's that thing. That thing in this picture made the sound. It's the only plausible explanation. Man I was stupid at 15.

It came from R'lyeh!

Man that would be cool if it was real. I would love to see a high-budget monster movie starring that thing.
|
Buy After Effects. It should be able to do wonders with Godzilla.
|
It looks a bit like Sin from FFX.
I never played FFX. |
The scariest Halloween monster is this thread.
|
I totally see Sin as well. It is now Sin.
|
Screenshots of Sin are abound in the google search for 'Cloverfield monster', despite the fact that the film has been out for years now and everyone knows what the monsters look like.
|
There was also a picture of parasites that were supposed to crawl off of it and terrorize people but those things actually did end up being in the movie.
|
I'd say a Scrab, just because if they existed... i'd shit my pants.
|
I wish I knew why their [the parasites, damn you SoulStorm] bites made you explode.
Back when I thought/hoped it was Cthulhu that clip in the trailer was really chilling. It didn't show you how it ended, so I was imagining that the bulges would flop out as tentacles or something. |
Weren't they giant guinea pigs?

There were also theories that weren't retarded, but of course I don't remember those. |
Maybe they contain certain chemicals, chemicals that explode when they react with blood. That's kinda' retarded, too.
|
They have poison glands like a snake, but full of desiccated Caesium.
|
Well known biological agent, Caesium.
