"Seriously" - was a part of my opinion - not a question to Oanst. Believe me - sweating is good! It means you burn calories! :D So, it's simple - give us games, and gamers will loose pounds! Hahah.. that was joke ofcourse ;)

Varrok 04-13-2012 12:47 PM

You're lucky you don't smell your scent

Clannfear 04-13-2012 12:49 PM

I like it! Especially after good cardio training! But ekhem.. let's back to the topic pipboy ;)

I'm starting to wonder what could I think about that. It's a site. The only thing it contains is a logo, which is not JAW's work and we've seen that before. not counting the copyright note

Seriously... what do I think about that?

A Whois lookup proves the site’s owned by JAW, if that’s any help.

Varrok 04-13-2012 10:55 PM

I'm just saying there's almost nothing there :D

Phylum 04-13-2012 11:13 PM

Actually, I think this website is stupid.

MO in HD is one thing, but to also have AOHD and HoO in the works seems a bit ambitious. Tell me you're working through these one at a time.

Varrok 04-13-2012 11:51 PM

Not to mention SWHD PC update.

Wil 04-14-2012 12:46 AM

All these things are at different stages of production and in the hands of different groups. Munch and Stranger are being worked on by separate groups of programmers. All the art and design are done. That leaves the designers and artists working on Abe HD, which thanks to the engine won't need much attention from programmers, who can follow up on Munch and Stranger by turning to Hand of Odd.

Oddworld is nothing if not full of ambition.

Even if it’s silly.

Strike Witch 04-14-2012 03:24 AM

Man, so much new stuff in development, I pray to god you guys can deliver on this.

This sounds good to me :) But yeah so no work has been done on HoO yet, as the programmers are on SWHD/MOHD and the artists on AOHD.

Don't you ever take OANST seriously. He said that just to annoy him :) And use some antiperspirant for sweating problem

I actually have absolutely no interest in an AO remake, while I am interested in seeing a new game.

I second this.

DarkHoodness 04-16-2012 03:25 PM

Good thing most of us are interested in a remake and see it as a viable way of re-starting the franchise, then. Or as far as I know, based on past commentary here.

Venks 04-16-2012 05:54 PM

I'm not that interested in seeing AO HD. I've bought Abe's Oddysee enough times. Though I am looking forward to MO HD and am currently playing SW HD.

But Hand of Odd. I have high hopes for that game if development ever gets that far.

Nepsotic 04-17-2012 09:30 AM

But it's not just HD, it's a complete remake, I'm looking forward to it. The first two are my favourite, and undoubtedly the best.

Hazz-JB 04-17-2012 10:00 AM

The game technology of the time really didn't do justice to the original Abe games, the reason I'm looking forward to Abe HD is that I want to see something like the original games now that the technology has finally caught up.

enchilado 04-17-2012 10:15 AM

It's a complete remake in 3D with, I believe, altered levels. It's not going to be the same as playing AO.

That's a pretty asinine statement.

That being said, I am looking forward to Abe HD.

It wasn't supposed to be a criticism of the old games. I just remember something Lorne said about how much they downscaled the game resolution for the PS1, which is why it looks so blocky, even though the actual graphics were ahead of their time. It still looked great but I'd love to see it made without the restrictions it had back then.

Glitch 04-17-2012 01:08 PM

It's a little disheartening to spend all day writing asset lists (design's most difficult and boring job) and then hearing people saying they're not looking forward to AHD.

Oh well, I'm sure I'll get over it in time (once the asset lists are finished).

OANST 04-17-2012 01:17 PM

All dickheadery aside, I feel for you on that. I really do. It's just that I've played these games, and since the remake won't bring anything new or interesting to the table (besides graphics), we will be playing them just for nostalgia's sake.

I hope that there will be a lot of people out there interested in playing for nostalgia's sake, because if not, well, there are a lot of better, more interesting sidescrollers on the market right now.

Hazz-JB 04-17-2012 02:09 PM

I think most people here are looking forward to it, but I can understand why people who've played AO/AE to death might not be. IMO the market for Abe HD will probably be people who were fans of Oddysee/Exoddus back in the day but didn't follow Oddworld after that, and fans of 2D platformers in general; stuff like Braid and Limbo.

Also I personally think AO/AE are the best 2D platform games ever, only Braid has ever impressed me a similar amount.

Strike Witch 04-17-2012 04:10 PM

For what it's worth I'm very much looking forward to playing Abe HD.

Phylum 04-17-2012 05:22 PM

I'll definitely buy it and I have no doubt I'll enjoy it, but I don't think it's possible for it to be as special to me as AO has been over the years even if it is better.

I hear what you're saying, but we're not the target market of Abe HD or any of the rejiggeries. They're about introducing these games to people who've never heard of them before.

DarkHoodness 04-18-2012 04:18 AM

I dunno about anyone else, but for me it doesn't matter how many times I've replayed AO (30+ times, perhaps more). Abe HD will still be interesting for me 'cause it won't be the same game. Sure, the characters and settings will be the same, and some of the level design will be the same as well - But it'll be a different experience because it'll be remade from the ground up with many changes and features, as a modern game. And I'm hoping I'll enjoy it as much as the original.

Also Nate said what I was implying earlier - It's designed as a way of re-starting the franchise and aimed at those who haven't heard of Oddworld before - It's not specifically targeted at us, even though we get to voice our opinions on what it should be like, and in such a way that they'll listen to us and perhaps even take our suggestions into consideration, which I'm grateful for.

So Glitch, you shouldn't get disheartened when some people on here who say they aren't looking forward to it - I really am sure most of us are, they're just being quiet about it. :) There are more people who will appreciate what you do than there are who will not appreciate it.

Also, you and the rest of the developers at JAW should bear in mind that not everybody will be happy with the remake when it's done, since some people have their expectations set impossibly high. Try not to get disheartened by that, either.

And why do I get the feeling I'll be re-quoting the last paragraph later?

They won't??! Well then, I quit! I'm not doing this if it makes someone unhappy.

Varrok 04-18-2012 05:17 AM

May I take his place? I just LOVE making fans unhappy :)
