Advanced age on its own doesn't warrant respect. Living a good standard of life at an advanced age does.

Perhaps there's some connection between Oddworld and having cruel fathers.

Well... My dad was pretty terrible. He has a high temper which resulted in a pretty messed up, painful childhood.

But now I just argue with him whenever he gets tempered cos he cant really do anything to me anymore.

Anyway yea. Elders should have some respect I guess. if only because they lived for so long. but if they do anything that makes them not deserve respect, then I wont respect them. Yeah.

Everyone starts off with me respecting them, it's how I like to be treated from the word go. Over time, depending on actions, people lose my respect until it gets to the point where I don't give a fuck about them. There are still some people I know that haven't lost any of it and most of them are my peers.

I wouldn't respect all elders but I suppose they are entitled to some deference. I mean, they're older and quite possibly wiser than me.

if they kick shit out of me when i try to mug them, they deserve my respect.

metroixer 02-24-2011 02:56 PM

As long as they stay off the fucking road and quit hitting my friends in cars. I don't appreciate being almost killed every morning when I drive to school cause a geezer can't tell if a light is red or not.

My philosophy is much like ridg3's, you get a moderate amount of respect points from the get-go. Those super special respect points either get added or taken away as I get to know how the person is like. Once the respect points get too low I just don't even look at them.

Unfortunately I've found that cocky old men like losing their respect points, but why should they give a shit?

EDIT: jesus this is the awful dad forum
