I think I may have an idea about something, it's one similiar to the game section we have now. Since oddworld is exploring new medias in TV and film, I thought why not have a media section, where members can post about movies, new movie trailers and TV shows and such. It could be something for the future, when oddworld movie projects are released to the public. And it doesn't t have to be completely oddworld releate.

If that happens you will expect many strange things to appear from me.

No offense to you metroixer.

None taken. :)

I think we should have a subforum to discuss in more detail about how I get such great sex.

Oh, and I also think we should also make the non oddworld gaming thing it's own forum... like OT... and expanding it by giving it a subforum for some kind of wonderful shiny special subject. (or just somewhere to chuck games I deem annoying... because I'm actually going to be a moderator or something... either that or I'll be such a pissy bitch that the mods just do what I say to shut me up... ahh I can dream)

I agree wholeheartedly. ;) But I don't know about the NOG becoming it's own forum, as Alcar and assorted others were slightly reluctant to even make it a subforum to begin with, yes? But we can dream.

Well, they were reluctant until they saw the reaction from everyone else. I mean no offense when I say this but I don't believe that Alcar is very good at predicting what kind of thing people would really like in terms of forum things - I don't think he anticipated the need for it or anticipated the reaction it got. (well, he clearly didn't) Hence he just needed convincing. And now that he has, and now that we've got a page worth of threads in NOG, it might be worth expanding, giving it a dedicated moderator (one of the gamey types), and perhaps some subforums of it's own eventually.

You never know, it might provide some more traffic. People will always choose us for being Oddworld related, but I would wager that a lot of them turn away or don't even bother due to the lack of things to talk about... game wise, that is...

I dunno. It's just an idea. But hell at this stage I'd happily go along with ANY suggestion if it will get a little more action going around here.

Touche, salesman...

More forums/subforums are a gamble, mind you. They could be successfull, and that would just be krad. Or they could just be a waste of space, with hardly any posts.

Worth a try, though, eh? I mean, the forums aren't super poopyular.

Whilst there was some resistance to the NOG forum being created, what actually swayed the mods minds was the major cluttering of OT.

Now, if we found that every day there was a huge list of new threads that we had to wade through then there may be a good case to sort them into sub-forums. Until that day, I don't think it's necessary.

No that isn't quite right. There wasn't a major cluttering of OT, there was evidence that it was a subject people wanted to talk about, and as this IS a gaming forum, it only felt right to have an "offtopic gaming" section to go with the "offtopic talking" section. I remember it well before NOG and I can tell you it certainly wasn't cluttered. Nobody ever complained about it being cluttered with gaming threads so I don't know where you got that idea from.

Nate 12-14-2005 11:12 AM

There was quite a lot of clutter last year with every new FPS getting it's own thread and Halo about five. Plus the "what's your fave game" thread and others.

This would be a matter of perspective, of course. I would interpret that as clutter. You may interpret it as "evidence that it was a subject people wanted to talk about".

I'd be interested in how many people post on a given day and what the percentage of "active" is. Since this is a slower forum as the main subject seems to be dying and the subforums has gotten a very firm NO this seems to be the way it is. Anyhow, I lurked for over a year and have been here for about 2 and this is one of the better forums out there, at least to me. Sometimes having few active members can be a plus rather than a negative.

Mmm, we still need new members to keep this place going though.
