Here are the following 5 screens. Enjoy. Criticism is appreciated

these screens are good! maybe you could include falling snow as an obsticle.
|
OMG! Those afre very cool, awesome and full of detail. Nice job quidproquo
|
Great Screenshots!
|
Great Job with the depths and stuff.
One thing that' you'll could get trouble with in the coding is with the fact that these screens have depth... but I'm sure you can work it out. |
that game looks awsome you had better tell alf about that he'd be impresed ;)
|
Nice scenes, maybe some day you could work for OWI!

that game looks wicked when will it be finished

Thanks for your support and compliments guys. yeah so Im gonna go with gamemaker because I dont know Java all that well, and to do it the straightforward way in java would yield crap results. I checked out gamemaker games. They run very well. Of course the games I tried had fairly low graphics. Should be good tho. Yeah, I plan different environments. but i want to start on sprites, so I will start showing that stuff when ready. I'm probably gonna have to limit the amount of screenshots, since I dont want to spoil the project to you guys.
i am actually doing this project as an independent stuyd (so ill be getting college cred for this). So, I cant even begin to speculate when it will be finished, but I will promise to post it somewhere (of course it'll be free!). |
Its been a while
Wow guys its been a while. The Delaware River flooded about two weeks ago in Easton. The art building was heavily damaged as it is the only school buidling in the valley. So i wasnt able to work on this project for a while. at least not on a computer. ive got lots of material in my sketh pads.
i think ive figured how ill do the sprites. Im gonna use this material called mylar to paint on. I think thats what they acutally use in animation (?) Here is a shot of leaving the village forest area to go to dark forest. the white area in middle is where the sprite for the river will be Enjoy everyone |
that's sad. moving onto topic, wow, it looks cool! goodluck!
oh, and i can help with the storyline, and give you more tips if you want some. *edit* thanks for the private message, quidproquo, i have replied. |
are you going to bring any new creatures in it
|
i thik so, since it's oddworld bassed.
|
That looks pretty good there, Quidproquo, and I have a suggestion for getting the depth you have in those pictures (that is, assuming you haven't already got it all worked out): You could use "layers" to acheive this effect, i.e. have a "background layer," this would have the background (obviously), have a "gameplay layer," which would be transparent except for the gameplay characters and such that would be in it, then have a "foreground layer," which would also be transparent, except for what you wanted in it. Then, you could have your trees and all that in the background layer, your characters in the gameplay layer, and the closer trees and that big rock and all that sort of stuff in the foreground layer.
Hmmm, this was a very long-winded post. ;) |
Hiya,
Just as a thought - it would make more sense to actually make the game and then do the graphics and modelling (if any?) afterwords. I've been programming for 5 years now - (www.drewsgames.com) and I find that the most important thing is to get a game working before moving onto graphics etc... The stuff you've got looks nice. :) Good luck, I'm open if you need a hand anywhere. :) Drew the Slig |
yes he's right do the looks later just make sure it's working first
|
wow awsum pics ur games gunna be awsum
|
how many levels are gonna be in it
|
That's kindof a weird question since it's going to be a screen-hopping game like the first ow games...
|
Wow
To the guys who still think this is oddworld game, it is not. But ill say it again, i have decided to simply make heavily oddworld influenced and not actually oddworld. This way i can show my respect for oddworld and be original at the same time. So my characters are going to be new and cool (i hope).
Gretin: as for layers, yur absolutely right. All the pics ive posted are simply the jpeg versions of some rather large psd files. All the screens i make are built up in layers with repeating elements as to decrease prodction time. Imagine how long it would take to paint each screen individually! So once i have the software goin and can just import the layers as i need them. Drew: i pm u |
i have already asked this, but have you changed the story at all since you last told us it? the game sounds great! good luck!
