At first it sucked, but it's come into it's own. Though I prefer witty satire over random humor, xP McFarlane's too dickish to be witty.

Mr. Bungle 11-08-2011 08:16 PM

Simpsons might be preachy, recycled garbage now, but keep in mind that for the first seven or eight years of that shows life, it was possibly the greatest animated series of all time. In fact, those seasons will always stay close to my heart. i used to think Futurama in general was better than the Simpsons, but boy was I wrong.

Anyone who feels at all bored or disinterest in The Simpsons, go back and (re)watch season 6. You'll thank me later.

Also, I finished the third season of Arrested Development.

Holy shit i want a movie

StrangerEastwood 11-08-2011 08:24 PM

I know, amazing aint it?
And I agree wholeheartedly. I own seasons 1-7. I just find futurama both funnier, and when need be, very sweet and heartfelt.

Wings of Fire 11-09-2011 12:30 AM

I don't think I've found Futurama to be anything but a bundle of cheap laughs, though I'll be the first person to admit I've not watched nearly enough to make such a generalization.

Simpsons in its prime, and even a little past it, was pretty fucking good.

Nate 11-09-2011 01:56 AM

I think Futurama is past it's prime, but it's still certainly worth watching. It's basically like The Simpsons in the late '90s, before they hit their shortlived upswing in quality in the early 2000s.

Dynamithix 11-09-2011 02:01 AM

I like the first four Futurama seasons, the movies (or the fifth season for some of you.) weren't that great. They were good, but not as good as the earlier episodes. Can't say much about the new season. I've only watched one episode of it and I enjoyed it though.

Sekto Springs 11-09-2011 08:47 AM

What I don't like about the last two or so seasons of Futurama is that, unlike the episodes before it's lengthy cancellation, the characters have been flanderized to the point where they're less likable. At least for me.

I did like the time travel episode where they kept looping the universe though. That was a mindfuck.

Crashpunk 11-09-2011 09:13 AM

I'm I the only person who thinks American Dad is funnier then Family Guy?

Mr. Bungle 11-09-2011 10:45 AM

They're both equally unfunny, unless you exclude the first few seasons of Family Guy. Fond memories of those seasons.

But yeah, they both suck.

MeechMunchie 11-09-2011 11:10 AM

It's cheap gags. I've got no objection to that sort of thing so I can happily watch a few episodes of either.

Mac Sirloin 11-09-2011 11:16 AM

King of The Hill and pretty much anything by Mike Judge in general blows any of the drek on Fox's 'Animation Domination' straight out of the water. Beavis and Butthead makes me laugh more than KoTH, but that's just because it's simply the best of things and you're a bad person for reading this and not watching it right now.

Wings of Fire 11-09-2011 11:22 AM

I must be a super bad person, because I've never found any of Beavis and Butthead the least bit funny.

Maybe it's a Cana-merica thing. I can't find satire funny if I can't understand what it's trying to satire. I'd say that's also my problem with South Park, but South Park has far far worse problems than that.

King of the Hill, though, is absolute genius.

MeechMunchie 11-09-2011 11:53 AM

I like Beavis and Butthead basically because me and most of my friends are Beavis and/or Buttead.

Pretty much this. The vast majority of my teen years were spent at my best friend's house watching movies, hitting each other with things and generally being stupid in the perfect way.

That said, I find the parts where they're commenting on things much funnier than the episodes themselves.

And South Park is so...tepid now. I wouldn't say it's bad, but it's not good and it's not what it used to be.

Disgruntled Intern 11-09-2011 12:35 PM

The new episodes of Beavis and Butthead have been great. With the addition of reality shows and the other crap Mtv has to offer, their commentary has just been..Better. I almost feel like the original run of Beavis and Butthead was ahead of its time.

I also watched twilight. I laughed a lot, but still don't understand what the big deal is. It's just dumb.

Mac Sirloin 11-09-2011 12:48 PM

I will fight for you, until your heart stops beating.

MeechMunchie 11-09-2011 01:07 PM

If it reaches the point where she dies, I think fighting so hard was kinda redundant.

Dynamithix 11-09-2011 01:22 PM

Beavis & Butthead, fuck yeah, I used to watch it all the time with my dad when I was really young. "I am cornholio! I need TP for my bunghole!"

I agree that it's not as good as it used to be, but the last episode (the blowjob one) and the Last of the Meheecans episode were pure gold. They seem to vary a lot, sometimes it seems like they don't have any ideas for the show and the next time, they're back with a genius idea.

Mac Sirloin 11-09-2011 01:35 PM

I saw the 99% one last week. It might be all I've seen of the new season. It's not that the episode was terrible, but it didn't make me laugh the way it used to.

Crashpunk 11-09-2011 02:06 PM

South Park doesn't make me laugh anymore. Thye new episodes are too bizarre. And whats wrong with American Dad? I actually find it funny.

Also The Cleveland Show is awful. Its excally like Family Guy only worse.

Dynamithix 11-09-2011 02:15 PM

Yeah 1%/99%, whatever it is, wasn't good at all. It was alright, but nothing special. Hope the new episode is better.

Sekto Springs 11-09-2011 10:27 PM

I think American Dad is funnier than either Family Guy or The Cleveland Show.
Once Family Guy had secured it's legacy, pretty much all the good writers moved to American Dad. Depending on the writer(s), Roger the alien is one of the funniest characters on television.

I cite this gag as one of my favorites...

Oddly enough, I don't really like the show's titular character. Stan can be very funny, but his personality varies so dramatically on an episode to episode basis that I can't get behind him as a character. They really need a writer's bible, or perhaps less lethargic creative consultants.

Dynamithix 11-10-2011 01:59 AM

I watched the new South Park episode this morning. It parodied Thor and History Channel (?). It was pretty funny, not that good tho'.

Crashpunk 11-10-2011 08:19 AM

Roger is awesome, He's always making me laugh. He actually reminds me a lot of Bender of Futurama.

Daxter King 11-10-2011 02:17 PM

How the fuck did they not even mention Tsoukalos on the History channel episode of South Park? Is such a thing even possible?

Mr. Bungle 11-10-2011 07:59 PM

The new Beavis and Butthead episode. Genius.

Mac Sirloin 11-10-2011 10:57 PM

Uh huhuh, is this like, where the screw penetrated its butthole?

Uh, yes. I believe that is where the screw made its point of entry.

Uhuhuh, 'entry'.

Also, holy shit at the Teen Mom episode they were riffing. That girl was completely insufferable.

StrangerEastwood 11-10-2011 11:22 PM

Mike judge, Genndy Tartakovsky, Matt Groening, Brendon Small, and Adam Reed. My TV animation Gods. lol Especially Tartakovsky-Samurai Jack is still one of the greatest cartoons ever made.

Strike Witch 11-11-2011 03:39 PM

More like Samurai Crap

Wings of Fire 11-11-2011 04:10 PM

I note a suspicious lack of Craig McCracken on that list!
