Johnny English Reborn.

There seem to be a lot of negative reviews of it but I really enjoyed it, but it is not as good as the first one.

Apart from the heavy Toshiba advertisement :/

Crashpunk 10-22-2011 01:29 PM

I haven't seen it but god It looks awful. Movie Trailers are meant to make the film look really good but it didn't work for Johnny English in my opinion.

Mudokon_Master 10-22-2011 01:51 PM

I think anything with 'Mr Bean' in it makes it funny purely because of his facial expressions.

StrangerEastwood 10-22-2011 02:10 PM

Rowen Atkinsen...I miss his old mr.bean skits and the black adder. his films tend to be rubbish.

JennyGenesis 10-22-2011 02:25 PM

I enjoyed the 2 Mr Bean films.

OMG, I've just found out 'Space Odyssey', I've only ever heard of it before never seen it...this looks so good.

StrangerEastwood 10-22-2011 03:17 PM

as in 2001 a space odyssey? That film is utter brilliance. Oh Kubrick, I miss you. And mr bean is mr bean. so he's always hilarious. Just not necessarily in good films, lol

STM 10-22-2011 03:22 PM

Yeh 2001, looks like something I have watch when I get back from holiday, speaking of which...off topic but, I won't be here till next Friday everybody. Enjoy your five days of solace.

A Clockwork Orange ;)

StrangerEastwood 10-22-2011 03:37 PM

OH MY GOD I love that movie. Never before has milk been so awesome. lol Also, that film is the king of out of nowhere ass beatings. And death by penis pottery.

JennyGenesis 10-22-2011 03:44 PM

I remember that Gorgeous Land Rover Series IIa on the part where Alex's friends (or were) stick his head in the pig trough.

I find it interesting how it has a Q plate but damn it looks gorgeous.

Alex ruined "Singin' in the rain" forever. lol

Ridg3 and I were talking about this earlier actually.

The picture was the single most greatest thing about this film.

Ridg3 10-23-2011 06:39 AM

It made the film. Without that picture it would have been a sub-par film.

I watched King of the Hill yesterday. It's a programme I always ignored, partly due to lack of exposure, and partly because I saw an advert for it years ago and thought it looked a piece of shit, but I thought it was funny. It was much less over-the-top than cartoons like The Simpsons, which I thought was a real strength.

Sekto Springs 10-23-2011 10:11 AM

King of the Hill's strength lies in just how cleverly subdued it's humor is. Unlike most animated sitcoms, the characters feel like they could actually exist, which is what makes it all the more hilarious when they do something outrageous.

StrangerEastwood 10-23-2011 10:19 AM

Mike Judge is a genious. Case in point, Office Space. And, for that matter, Idiocracy...which scares me cuz North America is well on its way to that future.

That's exactly the thing. I got tired of the whole slapstick approach to cartoons, and I thought that the humour in what I watched yesterday was a lot more subtle and actually much funnier than things I've seen in cartoons in the past.
I also think that the visuals are very good. I saw Beavis and Butthead a while ago, and didn't like it that much, but I thought that its aesthetic was much more interesting to watch than what I've seen previous to watching it (with the exception of Ren and Stimpy).

StrangerEastwood 10-23-2011 10:26 AM

Thats why I like Adam Reed's work, though his are less believable. It's more the subtle dialogue and clever plots that characterise Archer and Frisky Dingo. Sealab was just nuts. lol

Sekto Springs 10-23-2011 10:28 AM

I love the jiggly, amateurish-looking animation in B&B. In general, I love cartoons that go the extra mile to look imperfect. I love the sketchy-lined look of the classic Disney films, or the jiggly look of Dr. Katz and Ed, Edd n' Eddy.

But yeah, I love of King of the Hill's humor. I also liked The Goode Family, which was basically King of the Hill's antithesis. It's less subdued though, and didn't have nearly as much character appeal as KoTH.

StrangerEastwood 10-23-2011 10:32 AM

I miss Ed Edd and Eddy.

Sekto Springs 10-23-2011 10:43 AM

Really?
I thought it had a pretty damn good run. It also had like three TV specials and one feature-length movie. Isn't that enough? :p

StrangerEastwood 10-23-2011 10:47 AM

Yes, it's just that was when cartoon network ran good shows. lol now they have like...2.

I love that movie. I think I linked it in a bunch of Youtube videos here like 2 years ago. It's so entertaining to see things moving like they do in E,E&E.

I just watched The Dark Knight...again. I believe I've seen it 10 times or so, now. I'm not a huge fan of it, it's just good background noise.

StrangerEastwood 10-23-2011 11:36 AM

I only really pay attention when Ledger's on screen anymore. Anyone seen Terry Gilliam's Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus? I love Gilliam's style of fantasy.

Sekto Springs 10-23-2011 11:38 AM

I love Gilliam anything. That man is one sad case though. Film making for him has been an uphill battle his whole life. Now he's pushing 70 and has a broken back, and he's still out there making movies for the cultureless masses. A true hero of cinema.

StrangerEastwood 10-23-2011 11:40 AM

He almost did Harry Potter...that wouldve been amazing. But no, we got Chris Columbus, the dullest filmmaker ever.

Ridg3 10-23-2011 12:31 PM

Has anyone ever watched Oz? I might start watching it but I want to know if it's any good before I sit through six seasons of it.

Dynamithix 10-23-2011 12:39 PM

It's my dad's favourite show. I watch it with him occasionally and it is really good. I recommend it.

Dixanadu 10-23-2011 03:30 PM

Men get bummed in it.

If you like that sort of thing.
