See, I'd put Dennou Coil above all three of those.

Guardian of the Spirit.......anyone?

Yeah but you're a huge weeaboo.

Yeah but you're a huge weeaboo.

No, then I'd put Haruhi there.

Dennou Coil is very very good and very cerebral but also fun. It's one of those "Makes you think" shows.

Sekto Springs 11-27-2009 01:16 PM

Lain is good, but as someone who's seen both, I still prefer E7.

Using that term kinda makes this statement true:

1408 on TV afew minutes ago, but I had already seen it last year. That film absurdly upsets my mind and gives me a weird sensation of inner stillness.

I found the scene with the noose pretty damn funny.

Yeah, "Please, GO HANG YOURSELF"!!! XD

Leto 11-27-2009 01:41 PM

I found 1408 to be a complete wank of shite.

T-nex 11-27-2009 01:52 PM

I liked it... I don't think I found it scary though. I don't remember. But I felt bad for that guy.. And that room was very evil!! And mean.

La Haine (aka "Hate"). Very powerful and very true to what goes on in European suburbs. One of the best foreign films I have seen.

Havoc 11-27-2009 04:54 PM

I saw 1408 on TV a few weeks ago and I must say I did like the story, though just having to start from scratch after the hour has passed was kind of a bummer, and I would have liked to have some background about why the room became evil or whatever, but a good movie non the less.

It was more of a "what" than a "why" film. Like Samuel L. Jackson said, "It's just an evil fucking room". :p

I liked that :p It was explanation enough for me... And I sort of feel like it makes the film cooler...

Sort of tired of the ghost/horror/haunted movies where the reason for the haunt is some sort of stretched out, long-drawn, melodramatic reason.

I like that in this film the room is just evil, and that's about it.

EDIT: Oh and I like the fact the the room had a sense of humor...

I sort of got that feeling at the end of Grudge 2 and Darkness. To know that an elusive and unstoppable evil has just been unleashed on the whole world.

But it did have a dramatic/sad story to it <.<

Darkess, yes, sort of.

Grudge 2, meh. Just felt like it was milking the intensity of the first Grudge.

I saw Knowing yesterday. I didn't hate it. It kept me interested.

I also saw Outlander. Which is basically Beowulf meets Alien, but not as good at all. I wish he got his gun back. I really do.

I liked Ron Perlman and Jon Hurt, though.

And that is was Stephen King is the greatest writer of all time.

Yeah, c'mon. Everyone knows the best writer in the world is definitely Dean Koontz.

Finally. Someone with a clear view of modern literature. THAT'S RIGHT I SAID FUCKING LITERATURE!

You know, like a Jehova's Witness pamphlet.

Sekto Springs 11-28-2009 10:42 AM

Koontz is right up there with the author of The Hungry Caterpillar and Ann Coulter.
I just read a riveting pamphlet about enlarged prostates. It's titled "Bigger Isn't Always Better". It's quite possibly the best piece of literature ever produced, even moreso than the greatest piece of fiction of the same genre; The Catcher in the Rye.

I thought it was kinda boring.

But then again I watched it without sound over someone's shoulder in the school computer lab so hmm.

Wings of Fire 11-28-2009 01:28 PM

It's one of those films where atmosphere is more than everything.
