My reason is that there's barely anything decent on.
No longer an excuse. A solid reason now. |
I finally saw Sunshine. I was expecting a science fiction film with a ridiculous scientific basis for the high concept and Hollywood science everywhere else. What I got was a psychological thriller set in space with an ridiculous scientific basis for the high concept and Hollywood science everywhere else, though not quite as bad as I had thought. Weirdly, of all the things that were wrong, the one that really bothered me was that Harvey froze when exposed to the vacuum of space in seconds, citing the fact that it was -270 degrees Celsius or thereabouts. The problem being that in the Vacuum of space you aren't about to lose very much heat no matter how cold it is. Heat loss or gain as a result of temperature differences occurs via conduction, which will be negligible is space, especially over the period they were exposed. The only heat loss will be by radiation, which is not especially quick.

Yeah, but it was a good movie.

I have a better reason. I don't have a driver's license.

I liked Sunshine, even though it did drag quite a bit. The weird visual FX and camera work they used to "blur out" the psychopath annoyed the crap out of me. It was interesting, but that they continued to do it just irked me. I know I was supposed to think "Ooh stylized and trippy", but it just made my eyes hurt. What I did like was the complete lack of hope, and that they didn't skimp on the realism of just how unforgiving space travel is. From the very first mistake they made, you knew they were all completely screwed and that none of them would make it home. |
I ... sort of... have friends...
I have a dad who's in New Zealand at the moment. I have a mum who hates driving anywhere further than into town, and the cinema's about two hours away. |
Your life sucks. Kill yourself.

|
2 hours away?! Jesus fuck, where do you live? Kansas?
Oh wait, I remember. Australia, which is like the ultra Kansas. |

|
i hear tornado's are a brilliant form of public transport in Kansas.
terrible. |
Number 291, Yellow Brick Rd.
EDIT: Dammit MA posted. AND HE MADE A WIZARD OF OZ REFERENCE TOO! |

Ruby Slippers are slower, but more comfortable.
|
The Wizard of Oz sucks.
|
i thought Return To Oz was alright, though. totally different feel.
WHEELERS |
The Wizard of Oz is a parody of the legal system.
EDIT: Actually, that should be The Wonderful Wizard of Oz - the book, not the film. |
:
Vague attempt to get this back to a film discussion. |
Oh, obviously the film then. Riiiight?
|
Wicked, however, rocks.
|
I just watched A Clockwork Orange. Hilarious
|
Oh that movie was quite nice, though I had trouble hearing what they were saying :p
|
the slang was brilliant.
"a few lashings of the old ultraviolence. real horrorshow." |
Yeah there's some really good quotes in there, but the accents were a bit hard to understand I admit
|
Try reading the book.
|
I just watch the trailer for A Clockwork Orange. Wtf?
|
Hahah, yeah. It's a complicated film that one. You gotta watch all of it to understand what it's about. A trailer probably makes it look like a retarded blurr of violence and rape.
|
Don't waste your time with it, Enchilado. I'm sure the brilliant social commentary would elude you.
Then again, there are boobies. And someone is beaten with a giant penis. You might like it after all. |
Sadly I almost thought you could think up good insults when I first joined :(
|
Admit it, Ench. You were insulted.
You spent ten minutes in the shower, huddled in the fetal position. |
How - ? Wha - ? YOU'RE SPYING ON ME!

Haha do you people go on /b/? :tard:

Mentions of 4chan and stupid memes get met with harsh spanking here on OWF. Which explains why Leto pulls so much shit; he enjoys that sort of thing.
|
Za Warudo?
|
Sorry Nate, I'll play nice. Has anyone here seen the boy in striped pyjamas? Is it any good?
|
It made me cry, despite the historical inaccuracy of the premise.
|
Just saw Where the Wild Thing Are.
I have no fucking idea what that film is, what it's meant to be or what it's about but I loved it. It's incredibly joyful, energetic, depressing, atmospheric, heartwrenching, wondrous, hilarious and sad. Much more sad than I was expecting. I have no idea what I'm saying. I don't even know what I'm feeling right now. It's a fantastic film but I wouldn't actually recommend it to anyone. I think it's a film that will mean something different to each person seeing it and there is no way for me to predict whether they'll like it or not. |
I was up watching The Green Mile. I thought it was pretty good. It certainly wasn't the best film that I ever saw, but it I quite enjoyed it.
