The title screen is still how it is on the online demo. 100% = All of the first level. Coding 45% Background Graphics 90% Level Layout 100% Foreground Graphics 60% Sprites 45% Sounds 70% Music 100% I may post another demo (which will work to an extent) today if I have time. Sorry if this is going slow, this is the first time I've made a game. If I have to wait a lot on this I might start another small less complicated Oddworld Game up, but we will see. |

Josh, are you going to enhance sprites ripped from previous Oddworld games? If you ask me i personaly prefer the normal sprites. they both look good, i would just rather go with the original. but maybe we could do a comparison with demos.

Maybe you prefer original sprites because I used 100% of smooth - Sprite is a bit indistinct (It's TOO smooth) - I've updated the shot with 10%, 25% and 50% versions - we can make smoothed sprites that stay close to the original ones - Enjoy! ;)

The smoothness does enhance some things. But all the little details like cracks in the stone would be lost. I personally prefer it the old way, though you do have your points.

You must make sure that u put in your copright screen that u allow OWI to use and re-own your game at any time provided that it they would/it would be nice if they gave credit to you for game/idea/sprites. =D HEADS UP FOLKS EDIT @ Joshkrz: I wouldn't start I new game for various reasons mainly being that you get sidetracked and, if u find the shorter game more fun/easier u WILL stop making the origional I know it happened to me while I was making my game Bee Chronicles yep u never heard of it have you...nope! =D |

Game Update!
I have decided to upload the current version. Hold shift to run, press up to hoist. D is to jump (there is no animation at the moment). One good thing is that so far the Abe character has no animation or movement glitches that I know of. http://www.tabbicat.co.uk/game.php You will notice when on the forth screen abe sinks into the floor, this is a problem I am having trouble sorting out. Also when you hoist to a ledge the code used works fine now, but might cause conflicts later on in the game. You can hoist where ever there is a white see through box. I cannot get it to work when the boxes are placed differently in different screens. |
This demo (may I call it a demo now? ;) ) is very nice, but hope final version will be 32x better :D Keep up the good work! :)
PS: Do you still have problems with ripping sprites? Unfortunatly them sprites do not include the standard animations. They only have action animations, like rolling, throwing, jumping ect. Carnix is getting sprites for me so that's not a problem. Thanks for the links though. :
-- One thing I did a while back when I got a but sick of trying to fix that code was create an application of the game. The "Standalone" version of the game. This will come with the demo, and is equipped with an auto-update feature that allows you to download the latest version of the game without having to reinstall (or re download) everything, only changing the files that have changed. I've got some questions: -I wonder if u give Mudokons in AP three or four fingers? ;) In AO they had 4... in AE ingame too but in FMVs they had only 3... (Don't know why? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oddworld:_Abe%27s_Oddysee - "Alternative Versions" section) -There will be NO quicksaves, but checkpoints? Fixed/Updated idea of game logo :) About the NurveCo logo :P It's good but really similar (too similar) to the Soulstorm Brew's one.
