What they probably can do without much effort is upgrade the xbox resolution which is usually locked at 640x480, and finally make the games widescreen. The rest is okay, Stranger still looks beautiful to my eyes and doesn't really need a graphic overhaul.

640x480 it is awful.
I hope in MO and SW, will be 1024x768 or 1280x1024.:fuzzle:

Because the architecture and API for the PC is completely different to the Xbox. Needs a lot of reprogramming.

I think that architecture of PS3 to PC is more different than Xbox. Xbox is using modified windows 2000, so...

Wil 02-13-2010 11:08 AM

How interesting that the Xbox to PS2 port of Stranger's Wrath was scrapped because it would have taken too long.

Correct to the first part, but it's still completely different.

It is a modified version of Windows 2000. Emphasis on the modified.

Don't worry, they will change it a little. By making it playable with keyboard and mouse.

Yup, I doubt they will force you to play it with a gamepad :p

Lord Stanley 02-15-2010 02:19 AM

I'm almost positive that SW will use the mouse for the shooting, but what about MO? The first two games didn't use the mouse, so why should MO? It doesn't have any fighting, not enough to speak of. What would they use a mouse for?

MeechMunchie 02-15-2010 02:37 AM

Movement? I've always liked the 'follow the cursor' movement in distant 3rd person action. Diablo II used it well. And Sheep.

Wil 02-15-2010 03:46 AM

It'll probably rotate the camera.

Nate 02-15-2010 03:54 AM

Not necessarily; the camera in MO was fairly static (and broken).

Wil 02-15-2010 07:28 AM

But you could move it. In fact you often had to move it. So what would you rather asign it to?

Hazz-JB 02-15-2010 08:14 AM

I hope they add controller compatability to MO on PC. I can't see any advantage using KB + M for it. Analogue movement is much more important in 3rd person platform type games than mouse movement is... SW could be interesting though.

I'd never call Xbox hardware completely different from a PC, thats one of the things MS likes bragging about. THe fact that its so much like a PC ports from the two platforms to each other are usually cheap and easy.

Nate 02-15-2010 01:27 PM

As I said before; PCs are more similar to the Xbox than to the PS2. Perhaps I should have used the phrase 'significantly different'. You can't just load the game in to Windows and run it immediately; it will take an expensive effort to port it.

Max: I don't know. I suppose if you're asking me what I prefer, then mouse control. As for what I think is likely, numpad (assuming character movement is ASDW).

AlexFili 02-15-2010 11:47 PM

That's debatable. Depends how much effort was taken to port Halo and Halo 2 to the PC? (or whether they were developed independantly) Look, relax. They will port it however they see fit. They won't release it if they can't port it.

mamoru 02-16-2010 06:09 AM

ooh  it's been thirteen years since its debut.

being ODD is so great!

Wil 02-16-2010 06:38 AM

It will be in September.

Oddbox released in september!?:fuzemb:

Wil 02-16-2010 07:58 AM

No, it will be thirteen years since Abe's Oddysee was released in September.

Valet Slig 02-16-2010 10:00 AM

Lorne is amazing but what is he doing every day?!?!?! Release it already! At least OWI is showing signs of life with releasing the games on the PSN and the oddbox. :D

I think you just jinxed it.

Wil 02-16-2010 02:38 PM

You mean it won't be thirteen years old in September because I pointed out that it would be?

enchilado 02-16-2010 06:41 PM

He means that thirteen is an unlucky number. For example, when I was thirteen, I simultaneously fell out of an aeroplane, was hit by a torpedo and broke a piece from a Lego set I'd gotten from my birthday.

To this day I cannot build the set completely. I've been traumatised for life.

Lord Stanley 02-17-2010 02:19 AM

Maybe it seems so long because we all keep talking about it...or maybe that's actually speeding things up? I don't know. Just keep talking, somebody with something interesting.

enchilado 02-18-2010 12:57 AM

Wait, interesting? On OWF? Are you on something illegal?

Slig-13 02-18-2010 01:49 AM

Why not a REAL BOXSET!?!?!
God damn :C

Nate 02-18-2010 02:06 AM

Because no-one would publish it and no-one would sell it.

enchilado 02-18-2010 02:11 AM

I would sell it.

Versus 02-18-2010 04:31 AM

Lorne said that oddbox will be released this winter! But it is 18.02 already. Where are any news about it?

MeechMunchie 02-18-2010 04:36 AM

I would sell it.

Yes, on a street corner wearing a hoodie and dark glasses while shouting 'You wan buy DVD?'. I'm sure that will do wonders for OWI's image.
