I like the way they talk. The R rated shakespearean.

Yay, verily forsooth. Cunt.

Crashpunk 09-29-2011 08:39 AM

Watched Star Wars Episode IV randomly yesterday.

I don't need to explain why that film is fucking brilliant.

Dynamithix 09-30-2011 02:30 PM

I just finished watching Super, that film with Rainn Wilson.

I thought it was really good, reminded me of Kickass a little, but was a lot different from it. To be honest, I'm not sure if it's a comedy film or a drama/action film with a lot of black humor. I didn't really like the ending though. Why did Libby have to die? :( .

Also, Ellen Page is probably one of the cutest female actors ever. :3

Mr. Bungle 09-30-2011 05:17 PM

I love Ellen Paige. She was great in Juno and Inception.

I watched Silent Hill a few days ago. I don't know if it was because I was high when I watched it, but this movie scared the shit out of me. In retrospect, it wasn't all that scary, but at the time... wow. Freaky shit.

Before anyone asks: no, I don't watch many horror films.

Sekto Springs 09-30-2011 06:54 PM

Do you play horror games? The movie didn't do a justice to the mind-numbing eeriness of the games.

Juno was kind of crap.

Super was great though.

STM 10-01-2011 03:34 AM

mmm, quarantine. I don't know if I've said it before but yeh. Scary.

Dynamithix 10-01-2011 03:56 AM

QUARANTINE BAD

[REC] GOOD

Manco 10-01-2011 06:39 AM

I liked Quarantine, but I haven’t seen [REC] so I can’t compare the two.

STM 10-01-2011 09:53 AM

REC 2 sucks monkey balls. It's about demons and the sort rather than actual science. Which is what makes good horror imo.

Dynamithix 10-01-2011 10:16 AM

But [REC] 1 was really intense and a lot better than Quarantine.

Dixanadu 10-01-2011 11:50 AM

I watched the remake of the supposed McPherson family abduction, from a 'found footage' POV.

It was like Paranormal Activity with aliens.

Unlike PA, however, I did find it fucking terrifying.

Wings of Fire 10-01-2011 03:04 PM

Just saw Scott Pilgrim.

I hated it.

Oh God I hated it.

Dynamithix 10-01-2011 03:17 PM

Why? :(

Wings of Fire 10-01-2011 03:21 PM

Because it was shit and unfunny and every character was intensely unlikeable.

Dynamithix 10-01-2011 03:25 PM

Well you got me there. I liked it though.

Nate 10-01-2011 06:04 PM

I loved it. But I concede it's not a film for everyone. You have to have a strong liking for absurdity.

Strike Witch 10-01-2011 06:14 PM

I disliked the characters, but I also greatly disliked the annoying retro videogame hipster bullshit.

I was happy to see it was a failure~

Sekto Springs 10-01-2011 06:32 PM

I am not sad to admit I feel the same way as both WoF and Strike Witch, though to a lesser extent. I didn't hate it, it was just royally meh. And as I said when the movie was previously discussed, I have an antipathy for Michael Cera.

I'm watching Stephen King's Kingdom Hospital on my computer. Before you elitist twats get up in arms; Yes, I have seen the original Lars Von Trier series "Riget". I find the two far too different to really compare them on a stylistic level however. I'm actually watching it as part of a character study jag I'm on.

I like absurdity done well.

I also like referencing done well.

And humour done well.

And direction done well.

And dialogue done well.

Scott Pilgrim had none of these things. I did not laugh once.

Sekto Springs 10-01-2011 07:20 PM

On a movie-related note; they've made a Paranormal Activity 3.
And oh boy, it comes complete with J-horror rip-off ghost girl. The ambiguity of the antagonist's appearance/motivation was the original film's only saving grace.

I get the impression that PA is going to become the next "Saw". They'll release a new one every Halloween for a decade and milk that teat 'till it's dry and withered.

Strike Witch 10-01-2011 09:13 PM

Well it's not like they cost much to make. I bet if they put their minds to it you could get two or three a month.

Sekto Springs 10-01-2011 10:48 PM

Don't give them any ideas.

Strike Witch 10-02-2011 12:50 AM

The Doctor Who season finale.

It was actually kind of clever.

Damned if it didn't actually satisfy me though. Now I'm back to waiting.

Crashpunk 10-02-2011 05:57 AM

I liked Scott Pilgrim, It was just a bit of fun. You can't take it seriouly as a film however.

Doctor Who was okay last night, It wasn't the best episode. Actually, wasn't a great series overall in my opinion.

I miss Tennent..

Dynamithix 10-02-2011 10:13 AM

Just saw Attack The Block. Goddamn, that's one of my favourite movies now. Was really good in my opinion. The only bad thing was the bizarre South-London -accents. "Dat's an alien bruv! Believeh me!" Ugh... But yeah, if you can get past that, you'll probably find it pretty damn enjoying. It's basically a sci-fi/action/comedy movie.

Here's the trailer if you're interested:

Nate 10-02-2011 11:13 PM

I thought Doctor Who was okay. As for the season overall, there certainly were a few good episodes, but put together it doesn't feel like it added up to very much.

That said, I liked Matt Smith as the Doctor more and more as the season progressed.

Dynamithix 10-03-2011 07:17 AM

So, I watched another movie today. Take Me Home Tonight, it was a... romantic comedy I'd say. Only watched it because it had Topher Grace in it. Wasn't really expecting anything from it to be honest, but it was alright.

Next I'll probably watch Enter The Void. Seems really interesting.

Bullet Magnet 10-03-2011 08:42 AM

Doctor Who. I saw it coming.

Actually, I didn't expect them to do it, but it is the plan I had come up with to cheat destiny. I'm an old hat at fixing the outcomes of prophecies.

I felt a little bit cheated in that they cut the scene of the Doctor asking the Tesselector for help until the end. Makes sense for the plot, but it made me think that I was wrong.

Who here hadn't worked out what the Question was? And who was expecting "seven times nine"?

Crashpunk 10-03-2011 12:39 PM

I though the question was on the lines of 'Who is the Doctor' :tard:

I loved a bit when he escaped through the cellar window
