-   -   "Oddbox" Announced: All 4 Oddworld games to be released on PC via Steam (http://www.oddworldforums.net/showthread.php?t=18590)

Wil 02-03-2010 12:07 PM

Steam is probably the first place that'll get them up, but hopefully they'll also be downloadable from GOG.com and Amazon.

TheAdmiester 02-03-2010 12:08 PM

Do Amazon sell digital downloads? Unless it's going to be released as a physical package (which is unlikely), I'd say the first two retailers are much more likely to sell it.

Can I aks ya if muchs oddysee will include stuff they missed out I mean if its being remade by oddworld inhabitants

From what I've heard it's going to be a port. So I doubt new features will be included.

TheAdmiester 02-03-2010 12:33 PM

Ooh, I see. Shiny.

MojoMan220 02-03-2010 03:22 PM

I'm starting to really doubt whether this thing will actually come out. Wasn't it Lorne's hope to release this around Christmas, and even then, wasn't MO and Stranger just a possibility?

Xavier 02-04-2010 12:48 AM

Well if it doesn't include MO and SW there is no point at all, as AO and AE are already available on steam.

SteCu 02-04-2010 12:53 AM

i need to play SW as i dont have a xbox :(

RayOni 02-04-2010 01:03 AM

Oddbox will weigh 5-10Gb?

Varrok 02-04-2010 06:02 AM

Abe's Oddysee & Exoddus - About 2x0.7GB
Munch's Oddysee & Stranger's Wrath (Xbox... i think PC will be similar) - About 2x4GB
So... yes

But with steam you can download them separately if you want..

As amazing as that would be, no. There may be a chance they'd try in the future, but I doubt it.

Rayrockslots 02-04-2010 08:16 AM

He's something to think about while your waiting day after day for it to be released.

When it's finally released, we're all gonna buy it, play it, finish it in lets say a week and then...the waiting will continue once again!

You may wanna find another hobby to hold you over if you haven't already, it's gonna be great when it is released don't get me wrong, but don't get too excited...Did I use too many commas?

You'd be amazed how long ago I found other hobbies... and other excellent games to play by the way. At this state I'm not getting excited about any announced project anymore until we get some actual proof it's going to happen.

Crashpunk 02-08-2010 01:00 PM

Same, They should at least put some infomation about the OddBox in the Steam news. Or maybe release cover art.

Wil 02-08-2010 02:12 PM

You know what's bugged me ever since this news was announced? The use of the word "Oddbox" to refer to the digital distribution of MO and SW. When the Abe games first came to Steam, no one was going "YAY! The Oddworld Pack is available!"

Just throwing that out there.

Josh 02-08-2010 10:33 PM

Probally because we all already had AO and AE. Or because something being availible on Steam isn't really thrilling stuff.

Nate 02-09-2010 02:35 AM

Probably because putting AO and AE on Steam was simply re-releasing the existing games. MO and SW on the other hand are a totally new paradigm; being the Xbox games ported to PC.

Yes, 'paradigm' is my word of the week.

enchilado 02-09-2010 02:39 AM

That's not even a paradigm.

Nate 02-09-2010 02:48 AM

Why don't you and WoF go off and have a Paradigm Party and piss all over my parade?

Also, read the first definition http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/paradigm

enchilado 02-09-2010 02:57 AM

You wish.

Wil 02-09-2010 06:20 AM

I'm not bugged by the level of excitement. I'm bugged by the use of the term "Oddbox" to refer to half of the components of the Oddbox.

Plexius 02-09-2010 06:25 AM

ANyone have a link where i can read or see anything about this Oddbox? i lost both my MO and SW cds somewhere so i might have to buy the box lol

Wil 02-09-2010 06:58 AM

Crashpunk 02-09-2010 07:49 AM

Would the Oddbox make history? i can't think of any Xbox only games that have been ported onto another console?

Grieva 02-09-2010 08:04 AM

Halo 2 was released on pc about 2 and a half years after the xbox version, does that count?

Crashpunk 02-09-2010 08:05 AM

Balls, it would be.

Varrok 02-09-2010 08:57 AM

Fable on PC is a port from Xbox... Jade Empire too
Both on PC are enhanced versions

Then, what Josh said. I have no need to be excited for half of the Oddbox, because I already own two copies each of AE and AO legally.

I Oddworld 02-09-2010 01:55 PM
