Man, What A Dick!

So, yeah. I've been moody and confrontational lately. Yes, oh yes, I have. My stress level has been through the roof and I have had very little patience for anyone or anything.

Shit is hard.

I have finally found a place that I enjoy working at. I've been here since August and have never had a moment where I didn't feel like the job I do is highly appreciated or that my work ethic isn't respected. The owner is an ethical man and easy to work for.

The problem is that the economy in Michigan is raping us. It is a constant struggle from day to day to keep the doors open and the business operating. Every day is a little bit harder than the day before and I'm really beginning to feel the pressure. Especially since our customers know that times are tough right now. The sons' of bitches try to make us dance.

They call us and insist that we do everything that they want at their convenience. And that usually isn't a problem. We are happy to accommodate our customer's schedule. But these fuckers want us to come out and measure their homes while they aren't there and just leave the quotes in the door. Or they want us to come out and measure, and then come back later when they are home to discuss it so that the appt. won't take as long. And it isn't just that they want this. That's one thing. Everyone wants convenience. No, they get all nasty with you if you try to tell them it would be easier to do the whole thing at once.

"Oh, you must not need the work.", they say. Or "I guess the economy hasn't affected you". It has. It really has. But the odds of us getting the job without being able to sit down with them and show them what the prices are for is about zero. And it's fucking infuriating that they think that because we need the work that they can treat us like garbage.

The other day, I told one such person to go fuck themselves after about fifteen minutes of me doing everything I could to accommodate him. And he called us. I didn't call him. Afterwards, he reported me to the Better Business Bureau. I got them to take the complaint off (mostly it was when I explained that at one point he told me I sounded like a faggot), but until I did I was ready to kill someone. That's all we fucking need is for me to start getting us BBB complaints.

Anyhow, I'm stressed.

Sometimes customers can really go too far with requests. The worst ones are requests made by customers who might not even pay for anything in the first place.

The global economy has taken a hit, but overall... life continues in a similar way to the past. In a way, we've had the best and worst of times.

If you're stressed I recommend taking some time to de-stress yourself in whatever way you feel most comfortable. For me, music seems to work well.

How much of a comparison market is the home improvement industry? The fucking arrogance of consumer always makes me mad. An economic crisis is the time for society to work together to better itself financially, not to be out for every cent they can squeeze.

Urgh I'm sorry to hear about your pain dude *Manhug*

If by comparison you mean that the consumer has multiple companies come out and they compare price and product......very. It is very seldom that you will find someone who is willing to buy from the first guy out. And that's not a problem for us. We've been in business for over twenty years and our reputation is impeccable. However, times being what they are, people don't want to spend the money. Or they want to go with the cheapest guy, which is usually Bob and his truck. Bob and his truck are not licensed or insured, and have no employee overhead. There is no way that we can compete with their prices other than to tell them that when something goes wrong (and it will) this guy is not going to be there to fix it. Anyone who buys from someone who's quote is thousands cheaper than the others that they have received is a complete fucking fool.

OANST, I hear you. I hear every single word.

I have to deal with it too and the WORST is having to put up with the person who has the perception that "Well you're the business so its your job to SERVE me."

I have a sign in my shop. It says, "This is not BURGER KING. You don't get it your way. You take it my way or you don't get the damn thing."

Makes most people laugh. Except the folks who come in with a chip on their shoulder expecting to get ripped off the moment they come in the door.

This town's too small for that shit. I wanna be able to say HI to you at the grocery store!

Man, these people have no say whatsoever over your feelings. You do. Let it roll. Take a breath, it's okay.

I can put up with assholes. That's fine. My problem is that there is a fair chance that we will go under in about a month.
