I'm Leaving (pt. 2)
Posted 09-02-2009 at 11:06 PM by Pilot
Anyway, this is what I was going to say until I found an unsuspecting new neighbor's internet connection to hijack.
I've just moved houses and was ruing the thought of having to contact either the cable company or the phone company to hook up broadband. I've opted to not have cable tv nor a telephone landline; there's really so little on TV anyway that interests me so I'll be hooking up an antenna for free air reception. Moving was sort of a split second decision; I happened to be somewhat 'blindsided' by this rental home while on a service call. The paperwork gave one address (which was right across the street from ANOTHER call which just so happened to be scheduled the same day) and when I knocked on the door a guy wearing a toolbelt opens the door and says, to my surprise, "Justin?" .....I cautiously reply, "Yeah?" "Hi! Don! How've you been??" "Oh, fine!" (not remembering his face or where I know him from) "I'm terribly embarrassed, but where the heck do I know you from?" "Oh, you did some work for me years ago and I recommended some friends to you whom you also did work for. Do you remember *such and such TV*?" "Oh yeah!" I said, still not remembering his face. "Um, anyway, I'm looking for a Paul so-and-so... we're here to pick up his television for an extended warranty repair for Best Buy...?" "Hmm, looks like you got the wrong house. Looking for a place to rent?" And that's how I started; I'm now living at the address that was typo'ed on the dispatch paperwork. What else is purely ironic is that t is EXACTLY what I have been looking for. 3bd, 2ba 2 car garage with a landscaped front yard and trees with BIG unlandscaped back yard with RV access. I mean, it's EXACTLY what I've been looking for in a rental, but I've been finding so prohibitive costwise due to the land alone where I can park project cars. After looking looking looking and giving up, I've walked right into it. "You'll easily qualify," he said. So I'm completely stoked. Timing was perfect as well; for those of you who don't know I had moved back in with my dad to split the rent with him in this MASSIVE ranch house after his last wife divorced him and got everything including his jewelry store. Now that he's back on his feet and back in the jewelry business he was looking at moving out anyway. Perfect perfect. Plus, it was a drag if I wanted to bring someone over to the house.... you know, on a DATE.... I had one big section closed off to myself but still.... .... The original point to this blog was to let everyone know that I was going to be sans internet connection for a couple O weeks but voila! Things seem to be in abundance lately, and I am very grateful. |
