My Exhibition
Posted 06-21-2011 at 02:11 PM by JennyGenesis
So tonight at college I had my end of year exhibition for my Final Major Project which was an anti drink driving campaign. I already felt that my work was a success but somebody came up to me and said "I have learnt something from these" so I feel that it is a bigger success than I thought. Sadly the poster with the yellow light is a disaster.
Forgot to add drop shadow to the words written inside the traffic light. The other two posters have drop shadow. You can't see it on the photos but part of one of the letters is missing. There was a tear in the corner I managed to fix a little bit with double sided sticky tape. So below are some photographs from my exhibition. Symbolism is representing something or giving out a message by using something with a symbolic meaning. It can be used so that we can read a message without the need for words. For example, in Christianity, Symbolists believe that the bread and wine used in the Eucharist are symbols, and not literally the flesh and blood of Christ. The Scream, which is a paointing by Edvard Munch, uses symbolism, as the screaming figure in the painting is to represent "the scream of nature" that Edvard Munch experienced. Symbolism is used in traffic lights as well. Red meaning that there is danger and that you should stop, yellow meaning caution and green meaning that you can proceed. In public places a toilet is usually indicated by a sign on a door that depicts a sitkc man or a stick woman, it does not show that of a toilet but we understand that by seeing the stick figures it is a public convenience. I have used this approach in creating my FMP by way of designing a series of informational images based on the traffic light system |
