Yea yea two blogs n all that. But Im only really pushing a duplicate off anyway.

Anyway I wanted to give an update on stuff.

Specifically on my.... grandma...
Jeez. Id forgotten what it's like living at a grandmother's place ._.
I sort of cant wait till I get to Cluj and get some damn privacy.
It's not even that she's bad. She's lovely and full of life. At an age of 71(i think), she looks 50-60. She still walks around like normal. She's funny and smiles a lot. Also she has her own little button/zipper business(she sells em to shops in her city). She doesnt make a lot off it(in fact the people never pay her cos they claim they never sell anything with the bad economy and all that), so they mostly get on her credit.
She says she keeps the business cos it keeps her busy and its one of the things that make her actually go out and walk a lot during the day.

But yea... It didn't take long for her to comment on the fact that I spend too much time on the comp lol x_x
Thing is. I actually spend way less now than I did at home.
But there's not a lot to do unless I do it with her, cos I dont really know anyone here except my uncle and his wife and their kid.
THeir kid is ok... Knew him when I was a kid too. He's 15. But he doesn't say much. And neither do I. It's not a good combo cos we barely speak to each other. But we have a few of the same interest.... So the fact that we dont speak is funny. maybe its the age difference(And my sorta blocky romanian).

But yea, my uncle is at work til late. He used to be my fave family-member. He always played with me when I was a kid. But things have changed.
His wife is really bad. Well, I'm a friend to her and mostly comply cos I dont want conflicts. But ever since she got into my uncles life, shit had hit the roof. Shes like... Manic depressive or something(my guess). She seems fine at some points. But she also likes to play the victim. She often acts tired and annoyed with my uncles, and I guess she feeds off the attention she gets.
She also sort of split the family apart. Uncle barely talks to grandma anymore.

But yea. My grandma seriously overfeeds me x_x and then she has the nerve to talk about how she shouldn't eat too much cos its bad for her. But I think I've found a balance to not eat too much. Its certainly not like last time when I was here with Chris. We seriously felt nauseous and ill at the end cos we had eaten too much lol. If we didn't she'd guilt us. Not on purpose of course. But yea... grandmoms.

Bleh. And Now i have to go to some family reunion tomorrow. Which was interesting last year and fun. Buuuut. I really really don't like the fact that EVERYONE has to shake hands with everyone AND kiss each other. You know the kiss on each cheek kind of greeting. It was the most awkward fucking time of my life.
Here's a picture from last year's reunion to demonstrate why:

Anyway besides that, they decided to make it even more awkward. And no offense to all you religious people please, this is just my personal feelings. But this time they are all gonna go to some church and mourn our dead ones or something. Well at least show our respects. Me not being even a tiny bit religious fine this extreeeemely awkward.
My grandma wanted me to demonstrate that I know how to do the cross, and it just felt so wrong. Like... Not me at all, and I hate having to fake who I am for others sake. But it's for my family sake so I need to endure x_x
Then of course my grandma said: You'll have to learn the prayer too(you know.. that ... general one that everyone knows except me).

I was like: Noooooooooooo....... *slow motion head shake*.
That where my line goes. I'm not gonna fill my head with some prayer that I don't care about. it might push out a useful knowledge that I actually need. I don't think this was related to the church thing either.
She does sometimes ask: You and your sister dont really go to church do you?
I said: Nope.
And then she said: Well... I do. I pray for everyone I love. i pray for you and your sister too.
Well all I can do is say thankyou x_x

Well she doesn't pry too much.
But yea. In general my granmother is wacky, and she does also sometime slip out a little adult joke. Which is heartwarming I'm happy she's not some stiff prude.

But she does also have that grandmotherly thing where she's like: Lemme iron your clothes, Lemme make this food for you etc.

Well... bless her heart x_x She only means well.
But It's a bit too much cushyness and stuff for me. So Im looking forward to finally starting on my internship in Cluj on Monday. Yay! Im looking forward to learning and finally putting my skills in practice. I think this time it's gonna yield a lot of rewards to me. My last internship wasn't so challenging. But I feel this will be, and I'll have to push myself.
I'm so happy about that, because I REALLY really want to get up to date on how on earth I can actually put my skills to use. It will be important to future job applications and such.

I read and enjoyed it. The picture made me laugh. I'd be the exact same in your position, I know nothing of those sorts of greetings.

Its really common in Romania with close relatives. I can deal with doing it when I meet like... Uncle and aunt and stuff... But... 80 people in the same place.... It's hell x_x

I live with my grandparents, so I can attest that I am fully aware of how persistent grandmothers can be when trying to feed their grandchildren. Not that I mind, but I have a good few kilos I'd like to lose - and yet they still call me skinny

Also, have to say, that photo, before I read further - had thought that it was our resident Italian Fabio making moves on you

My grandma always used to have me some form of sweet for me every time I'd see her. From the age of 4 I've been declining, because I've known I eat that stuff at home anyway and I don't need any more. Eventually 2 or 3 years ago she get the message and stopped trying.

She still tries to feed me lots when I visit them. She's always mentioning how I'm all "skin and bone." I'm not just skin and bone, but I'm still quite thin. I don't think she will be content with my weight until I'm a little bit fat.

Yeah, I get that from every single family member any time that I turn down seconds of dessert. I don't know if it's a family thing, if it's a fatter-person-than-you thing, or if it's just our society teaching us that anyone who doesn't actually have a gut projecting half a metre in front of them must be skinny.

I think we can count this out. I think in american culture at least even skinny girls are considered fat. In some cases.

Truth. You can have zero percent body fat, but if you're "bulky" in any way, you're guaranteed to be called fat by more than one ignorant pleb in your lifetime. Sad.

Everybody has fat on them though or they'd probably die because they'd have no stored lipids or anything, they'd be very fragile and I doubt they'd be able to move around much.

Ironically, I just came home from visiting my grandparents. I'm still amazed that I'm related to my grandfather: he's quite the storyteller, and a loud one at that. Awful stubborn too, and if you don't get his jokes, he'll simply claim that you have no sense of humour. But on the goodside, their garden always looks a bit better after I look for refuge there, and have a bit of peace and quiet while I work there...

Greetings... Yeah, I always have trouble with that when it's someone I haven't met before. Like last Sunday. :P How awkward was my greeting?

...for the record, it wasn't anything obscure, but feel free to speculate, the rest of you.

OOOkaaaayyyy... So I just got back from yet another awkward family meet.

There was less kissing this time but still some.
Buut... but but but... The church thing. jesus.
It was worse than I imagined. And yet again.. I super-duper apologise to all you religious people x( Its just... I dont have even one religious bone in my body.
Plud this was one of those boring churches where everyone is supposed to be humbled and the priest sings rather than talks(Sooo friggin awkward).

So yea, we arrived directly at the church. Went in, and listened to the singing priests. I was a bit thankful that my ears were too untrained to really make out what they were saying(wouldn't want those subliminal messages reaching my brain).
Had to make a lot of crosses on my chest. And then they mentioned all the dead people who we had put on the list including my grand dad.

Bleh ... It just... felt so wrong. But Im doing it for my family. So yea.. Hm.

Then we went to the restaurant we had to stay at. And to my horror... A prayer before the eating. THe guy went on with the usual "Thank you lord for the food on our table, bless it etc"
I didn't like it. Im paying for the food myself so I only really have myself to thank and the means in which I got the money. I don't want to be thankful to someone else that I don't even know to eat.

Sigh... x_x ... sorry I had to vent about this. But put this in perspective.
If you are religious and your whole family had another god they worshiped, and this was sort of.... obligated at a reunion. Wouldn't you feel wrong and icky worshiping another god than your own? I bet the first thing you'd would go home and beg for forgiveness for such a sin.

Other than that it was pretty fun. Got to meet these two ladies who are 40 something. But they look SO incredibly good for their age. Even prettier than my mom, who is pretty... pretty.
But smokes have aged her.
Well I dont really remember how im related to those ladies. But they took me to see their old(not abandoned) home in the nearby village. SO cozy
I like the romanian countryside cos it's surrounded by mountains and forrests. I remember having a lot of fun when I visited these places as a child.

Then I also talked to a guy who works with branding. He seemed to love everything about Mac and kept talking about how great they were.

I talked to random people, but I seriously dont remember who is who and from where x_x ... Maybe next time.

My dad's side of the family used to do this. It was really awkward the first few times, because I had no idea what I should have been doing while my grampa was talking. Occasionally they'd ask "Would someone else like to say grace?" Nobody would say anything, and I would sit there thinking something like: "Fuck fuck fuck fuck don't pick me don't pick me fuck fuck fuck" until someone else was chosen.

She's very pretty. Looks must run in the family.

Those comments aside, you must be stoked meeting up with the entire family again, even if you had to go through the awkward howdy do ritual. And Church and all that praying.

Also, your granny sounds like how mine did. Every time we went round to hers, she's try and makes us put on half a stone before she was satisfied. I always felt very bad because of her money situation, but god rest her soul she was the kindest person I've ever had the good pleasure of knowing. She would offer her whatever money she had and you would be some sort of god if you managed to not take the money.
