I'm Bankrupt.

Posted 10-27-2009 at 12:05 PM by OddjobAbe
I lost a game of monopoly today. I'm a bit pissed of, because I didn't get to be the car.

A friend of ours visited with her daughter (hence the game of Monopoly). It was quite nice until she got to watch her DVD. It's hard to hold a conversation with people when Angelina fucking Ballerina is playing in the background, purely because my eyes are always drawn to the television despite what's on. It's difficult not to watch. Apparantly, my brother had the same problem.
We did, however, enjoy a good game of tennis in the yard. I only wish that I was any good at it.

and that's a coincidence you mentioned Monopoly. i was going to post a reply to someone here yesterday about how i rarely play games anymore, apart from Monopoly on my computer.

the computer one isn't as good as the old fashioned board original, in my opinion, what with not having to look under the sofa for little green houses, laboriously counting thousands of pounds in Monopoly money, and pretending you cant find the car piece until everyone else has picked theirs.

god. memories.

No computer version will ever top the original. Do you remember Cross Over the Bridge?

And should my supposed financial situation ever become reality, please don't feel that you should help. Your money is yours, I will have to manage on my own.

i actually don't remember that. one game i do remember getting when i was a young 'un was that Screwball Scramble, but it also went by the name of Run Yourself Ragged. loved that.

i seem to remember a kid on the box cover that i swear had a tooth missing.

Funnily enough, I have no recollection of that whatsoever. How about Headache? I love that. Don't know many people that know it, though.

no i never heard of that one. this is odd, usually i'm good with this sort of thing.

ones i could never get into though were Frustration, the one with the dice in the plastic dome in the centre of the board, and you had to click it down to flip the dice inside. i don't think it was anything more than a glorified version of Ludo, which i still think is great. don't know why, just good.

Come to think of it, I think I do recognise that game.

Headache had one of those domes with the dice, but it had an extra dice which had five blank sides and one with a red dot. If you got the red dot, you got an extra go.

that sounds pretty good, actually. last time i used dice in a board game was whilst playing Ludo, and i rolled about six 1's in a row. very frustrating, but fucking hilarious at the same time.

EDIT: oh god. that makes me sound like a right boring bastard. to clear up any confusion, i don't find the number 1 on a die amusing.

Monopoly: Capitalism - The Game. Top hat is epic win. Childhood board games, I liked Careers, Buccaneers, Labyrinth (the game that taught me how to spell 'Labyrinth'), Monopoly and Sky Runner.

I've owned that Snafu game. I'm pretty certain it wasn't called Snafu, though.

I remember Snafu, but I knew it as Screwball Scramble. The metal wires always pissed me off, bloody impossible as a 5 year old.

the bit that pissed me off was the part where you need to bounce the ball bearing through that hoop/mouth thing using the button for the blue fucking short tube things- BALLS.

No: 5 on the button row.
