Holy mother of God, no.

My Sega Mega CD broke. This is awful. It never got used much, because most of the time, I don't have time for games, but when I do, oh, when I do...

I looked inside it. It's certainlt getting power. The board that receives the power definately has ir all, but it doesn't seem to be getting transmitted to the mother board or disc tray. The AC adaptor is a 9 volt, but gives 14 volts, but it is not uncommon for an AC adaptor to give a few more volts than it says.

And, they don't seem to sell the right parts for it anymore.

Have you tried looking in any stores?
DaRn.....I've never had that happen before.

Yeah, all sorts of electronic stores. And boy, is this modern technology different. My best bet is to scavenge from other broken Sega Mega CDs (which my brother has), but it's unlikely that I'll fix it with that.

The sad thing is, I'm dealing with technology from 1991 - that's more or less ancient compared to today's electronics.

But yes, the video sums up my sentiments perfectly. Now, I have to play Sonic CD, Prince of Persia, Earthworm Jim (I have the SMCD version), etc on an emulator. Totally different experience.

And my Sega MegaDrive (Genesis) looks awfully small without that system sat beneath it.

It's really terrible when you lose something really old...even if you don't play it much it's still special.

It's worth a try though.

Sucks for you. I don't have any old consoles so I don't know what I'm missing. Hope you get it fixed somehow.

I think I'm getting somewhere - when it bust, I was using a Sega MegaDrive/Genesis model 2, which has a positive output, whereas the model 1 has a negative output. My problem is that I've been using a negative output AC adaptor instead of positive.

I think that might have bust it though. Time to try the model 1.
