Fucking Awesome

Posted 08-03-2008 at 12:21 AM by OddjobAbe
In the space of a week, I found two of my what I thought were forever lost gaming consoles - the SNES and the Sega Mega CD. I have to say, pretty much the only decent games I have for the Mega CD are Sonic CD and Earthworm Jim Special Edition.

But man, are there a lot of gems I have for the SNES. Super Mario World, Yoshi's Island, MegaMan X, Super Bomberman, Super Metroid, but best of all:
Super Noah's Ark 3D. It is fucking awesome. You plug Super Mario World or any other game entitled 'Super...', and you play Wolfenstein 3D...
on Noah's Ark. Goats try to kill you, and you shoot them with a slingshot. It's all exactly the same, it's just a palette hack. God bless Bible violence.

Why's everone talking about finding these gaming systems from the nineties? Though, if I actually had a SNES somewhere, I'd dig it up and try to play it. NOSTALGIA. Maybe I'll breathe some life into my Gameboy Color...

My parents gave me a Genesis a while back. I'm not sure if it was an old system or not, but the only decent game it had was Echo the Dolphin. Man, I never knew dolphins were so poetic/literate/full of crap. I had one that kept repeating "GREAT WINDS OF WATER" and "THE MARKS ON YOUR HEAD ARE LIKE STARS IN THE SKY" and I was left going "Okay, what the fuck?"

I also saw a store nearby selling Gameboy Minis', or something along the lines of that. They play Gameboy Advance games, and they're absolutely tiny. They're like comparing the original Ipods with the new Ipod shuffles. I wanted to buy one just for the sake of showing it off.

Because no game beats a retro game. Not sure if a nineties game would be classed as 'retro', but seeing as though Sonic is, it most probably would.

I still have my original copy of Earthworm Jim for Genesis, it's something that I'm proud to own.

Yep, everyone has a retro console, except you can't use to pull chicks because you're married, so you may as well just give it up now.

No cool points.

It's always a great feeling when you find your old game system and it still plays the games. =P

Nostalgia is great. Sadly I can say that the most nostalgiac thing I have is my Windows 95. Almost as old as I am and still works. I don't have anything nintendo other than a Wii, no Sega, no Atari, or anything. The oldest gaming console I have is an original Xbox. But I do have a good and well working game for my Windows 95... Wolfenstein 3D.

WoF, that animation is destroying my mind as I try and catch every bit of it involuntarily.
